FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Senate has approved a plan that would
ease requirements for building nuclear power plants in Kentucky.

State law forbids nuclear power plants from being built unless a
permanent radioactive waste disposal operation is available. The measure would lift that restriction that has essentially put a moratorium on such plants in Kentucky because the U.S. has no permanent waste storage facility.

The proposal passed the Senate 23-12. It now goes to the House for consideration.

The legislation is Senate Bill 156.

Its hard to accept that a state that leads in coal mining would consider a nuclear plant, but that is called progress. Get used to it.

Everyone in Ky and this country had better try to stop this kind of, putting everbody in danger. What about clean coal technology, something would provide good paying jobs. Hasn't enyone learned anything from what happened to Russia? It looks to me like Ky has got some Senators about like WV ! You and Only you the citizen, can do anything about it ! Vote these guys out or blame yourself ! Just talk don't count !

If they remove the restriction for the RADIOACTIVE waste operation, where will the waste go? It will probably end up in the air, streams etc. Does KY need a nuclear power plant that bad?

NO permanent waste storage facility. Hmm - Talk about BAD planning. WHERE, just WHERE will ALL this radioactive material be shipped to once the plants are built? I know, I know - we will ship it by rail through Cinci or wherever and talk about a major accident waiting to happen or lets see - hmm - Once it is built, Ky. to give major, major discounts or $$$ to build a permanent facility, after all safeguards are no longer in place to protect its people. S A F E G U A R D S are there for a reason and "We The People" ARE the reason.
