CHARLESTON, W. Va. (WSAZ)--West Virginia Senator Robert Byrd was back in Charleston Tuesday night, just weeks after being released from the hospital.
He attended a fund raiser for his former staff member Anne Barth, who is running for the 2nd Congressional seat.
This marked the Senator's first public appearance since being released from the hospital.
You'll remember he was hospitalized twice, once for injuries suffered in a fall and the second time was because of an allergic reaction to medication.

It is time for Sen Byrd to retire with dignity and Anne Barth should have never had him come out in his condition! She should be ashamed of herself for asking him to do this in his frail and ill condition, he is long past his prime and was not even aware of the day let alone the issues!! This is a PRIMARY!!! not the the general election and as far as I am concerned Anne Barthe has lost votes in this horrible attempt to gain votes by having Sen Byrd throw his 2 cents in before he passes away. Anne has lost my vote and many others in my local. I say Robb is the better Democrat for this race if their is one? our brothers and sisters will remember this.
