CATLETTSBURG, Ky (WSAZ)--The man some have called the “Duct Tape Bandit” is competent to stand trial.

That is the ruling from Boyd County Judge.

Back in November, Kasey Kazee's trial was postponed so he could get a psychiatric examination.

A psychiatrist told the court Tuesday that Kazee was capable of understanding the charges against him.

Police say Kazee robbed Shamrock Liquors in Ashland back in August with his head wrapped in duct tape.

He faces first-degree robbery and second-degree persistent felony offender charges. Kazee says he not guilty.

Kazee’s trial is now scheduled for May 12.

This is hilarious. This brings a new meaning to "a few fries short of a happy meal". A few children in my neighborhood dressed up as him for Halloween.

What happened to the good ol days when we could produce a criminal here like Charles Manson that had a 120 I.Q. ?

Maybe if Dubya Bush wrapped his head in duct tape the American people would never know who run this country in the ground? I cant say that because the kid with duct tape on his head only got some change and got caught, while Bush will get away with a fortune. Duct Tape Bandit for President 08 Do the maff

Posted by: Anonymous on Apr 3, 2008 at 06:50 AM
To Dustin... The commenter that said "maff" was putting into writing EXACTLY how the Duct Tape Bandit pronounced the word "math". LOL He was making a joke. :-)

Posted by: I Can't take anymore!!! on Apr 2, 2008 at 03:48 PM
I heard that when the medical people removed the duct tape that some of his skin went with it. Now that is funny! This guy is obviously short a few marbles. All I can hope is that no one puts a video camera in his face again! I'm begging you WSAZ, no more interviews! Ashland doesn't deserve such a bad reputation!

Posted by: Frank on Apr 2, 2008 at 03:14 PM
I'll bet he "adheres" to his story. He is in a "sticky" situation. Well I guess that just about "wraps" it up.

Posted by: Mike on Apr 2, 2008 at 12:32 PM
What's he going to plead? Hey I was just a stunt double. I think he should do a guest appearance on the Red Green Show.

My friend went as the Duct Tape bandit for Halloween and it was the greatest costume. Everyone has to admit it was kinda funny, especially when he denied it was him.
