CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A father from Charleston charged with child neglect faces up to two years in jail.
Matthew Martin pleaded guilty Monday to domestic battery and that he contributed to the neglect of a minor.
Martin was arrested last fall along with his wife, Ashley.
Police say they found the couple's 7-month-old baby alone in her crib.
Investigators say the baby was also found with major blisters on her genitals and backside. We're also told dirty diapers were everywhere and maggots were crawling on food in the home.
Martin faces up to a year in jail on both charges plus fines up to a $1,000. He's expected to be sentenced on July 9th.
The judge ruled Monday Martin will remain on home confinement until his sentencing. Right now he has supervised visits with the child.
According to court records, Martin's wife, Ashley has also pleaded guilty in the case. She has not been sentenced yet.
