HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police from several agencies conducted a city-wide drug sting Wednesday morning.

We’re told at least a dozen arrests have been made so far.

Several arrests were made in the same neighborhood where a man was found murdered last week. That was in the 18-hundred block of 9th ave.

Those arrested were taken to Huntington Police Headquarters for processing and then to Cabell County Magistrate Court for arraignment.

Chief Skip Holbrook WSAZ.com that part of the reason for the raid was to shake things up and get a little information following last weeks murder.

Huntington Police, Cabell county Sheriff, DEA, FBI, and WV State Police are taking part in the raids. They are attmepting to serve about 40 warrants for various drug charges involving heroin and cocaine.

The raids began around 9:30 Wednesday morning

RIP RASHAWN HARLESS

Posted by: Linda on May 12, 2008 at 02:20 PM
I think anyone who does, sells or makes drugs should be ready for the consequences, and those who steal to get their drugs should be aware that they might get a 9mm between the eyes in the process. The idiots don't have any fear, since they've gotten by with so much. God help them if they happen onto the wrong house--they just might be going back to Detroit in body bags after all.

Posted by: Shonuff on May 11, 2008 at 12:42 AM
FACT: Smoking marijuana once will KILL you. No questions. Not only will it kill you in the slowest and most agonizing death possible, it will eliminate the entirety of your family, friends and all your ancestors. If your ancestors are dead it will unbury them, bring them to life, and kill them again.

Posted by: EK on May 10, 2008 at 10:25 PM
Remember when the users were dying from the bad heroin? Was that really a bad thing? Send a great big batch out and finish off the rest of them, it would make the job a lot easier. I work with the public and the amount of crack head theives in Huntington makes me sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Tim on May 10, 2008 at 06:20 PM
People complain if people the police dont do anything, people complain if the police do something.....it just shows people will never be happy. And I know/knew Misty Emery....what a shame, she used to be such a good person....she hated drugs, ect...

Posted by: To MOJO on May 10, 2008 at 02:37 PM
I agree. I think ALL Detroit drug dealers should be sent back home in a body bag. Let them kill each other so we don't have to.

Posted by: To Bobo... on May 10, 2008 at 12:36 PM
What it tells me BOBO is that you only look at things through one side of your rose colored glasses. If you look at the other side it may allow you to see that perhaps not always is the justice system applied equally to all who commit crimes.

Posted by: Devon on May 10, 2008 at 11:37 AM
BOBO, for one thing it tells us that the government used to have stricter sentencing guidelines for crack cocaine which blacks in poor communities use and powder cocaine which is the drug choice of the elite. The Supreme Court has since overturned the unfair law. Another great statistic is that we spend $7.5 - $10 billion per year arresting and incarcerating individuals for simple possession of marijuana. Over 90% of those arrested and in jail for marijuana are for amounts of an ounce or less. If you think this is a good expenditure of our time and resources, so be it. Ohio has decriminalized marijuana in amounts of 100 grams or less. Our U.S. Supreme Court in Gonzales v. Raich even said a ban on medical marijuana was okay because free marijuana negatively impacts the illicit marijuana market. They used a depression-era precedent where a guy violated a wheat production limit for his own personal use. Study up on the issue and maybe some of you will learn a bit.

If your going to talk bad about the cops and any other form of agency don't be a "COWARD" a put your name down. I'm glad to see them getting these people off the streets. Look how many kids have to suffer because of drugs from the parents. 1 of those men that got arrested had gave me a problem so his karma came back around. The police try to do the best they can and if anyone wants to mock them lets see you try to be one and how better you can do your job. And to mike donuts are so old by now, GROW UP!

Posted by: BOBO on May 10, 2008 at 08:37 AM
Unless I am mistaken. approx 25% of the population in the U.S are African American. 75% of the Prison Population in the U.S are African Americans. What does that tell you? DUH.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 9, 2008 at 09:33 PM
Nice job on catching the crack heads and dealers but I'm pretty sure a big motive on these busts are the elections coming right up. somebody wants votes..

Posted by: To Anonymous, from To ALL that posted! on May 9, 2008 at 06:52 PM
I'll point the finger to whom ever I please. HPD FBI STATE UNDERCOVERS DAE MAGISTRATES MAYOR RATS SNITCHES whoever they all live under the same roof, and its not the publics job to do there jobs. So someones not doing there, and it starts with the HPD cause there on the front line just trying to make there quoted for some arrest. 2 The detectives live under that roof as well

Posted by: MIKE on May 9, 2008 at 05:54 PM
The H.P.D Donut Gang had to bring in The Real Police to do the job for them. Drug Dealers were on the street the same night. The Donut Gang just drove past and did not look their way. This is all a ploy by Fellington to beef up his Re-Election Bid. Folks dont be fooled by fellington or the H.P.D donut Gang. Also if you want Police Protection call the Local Donut Shops.

Kudos to Skip Holbrook. What a fantastic start to scraping the scum off of our streets. Let's put them all under the jail, and send out a clear message that we will NOT tolerate the drug filth that keeps trying to infiltrate Huntington. Huntington used to be such a nice town, but with the crackheads and drug dealers flocking into town, it's become a scary place to live. Anything that can be done to remove these vermin is greatly appreciated. Thanks again to Skip, the HPD and the other fine police officers for putting their lives on the line to try to help us honest citizens take back our town.

Some people say the police aren't doing their jobs because the people they arrest are out the next day. Not their fault. How about the people that let them out on bond? Ever think about blaming them? Ever think that the police are just as frustrated as you are because they have to arrest the same people over and over and nothing ever gets done to them? Someone may have already mentioned that, but I don't feel like reading over all 85 post on this article. It cost money to keep people in jail. I (unfortunatly) know people that are accused of murder are out of jail right now until their trial date (2 are out, 2 have already been convicted but were out for months prior to trial). How freakin' safe is that? It isn't the police, it is the people it goes to after the cops do their part. As far as unsolved murders, there are detectives for a reason, might want to start pointing fingers that direction.

You say you've been to court with both races and that white men are treated better. Here's a thought...How about you begin making some better life choices. I have NEVER been to court with ANY person I have EVER dated. Maybe I just can't pick them like you can!

Posted by: MU student on May 9, 2008 at 12:47 AM
When are some of you going to realize the duties of the police. Its not to solve the 'Leah Hickman' murder, it's not to solve the quadruple homicide murder in 05'. It wasn't even the duty officers that made the arrests during the raid. Federal agencies get involved when there is federal charges to be processed. The police dept. just does what the government tells them to do. Don't blame the police department for doing a job.

Posted by: LL on May 8, 2008 at 11:12 PM
The public complains when law enforcement "doesn't do anything" about the drug problems and the public complains when they do try to do something about it. They can't win.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 8, 2008 at 07:46 PM
As an African American man I an ashamed of the way many of the younger blacks act! Quit crying that the police only target minorities! The police are doing their jobs and targeting the criminals. That just happens too be many black men who deserve to be locked up. Good job HPD!

Posted by: Anonymous on May 8, 2008 at 07:22 PM
Wow!! I would love to see a drug raid come to Louisa cause Im tellin ya its getting bad. Drugs are getting horable around here u hear of all ur neighbors going to jail for oxy, meth, and all others and in a few weeks u see them out on the streets again wondering who they're saling too. could it be ur family member or even ur own child. but then thats all u hear is that they went to jail. and i know of this one person in particular who was caught with oxy and needles along with two other guys and after getting his bond 10% he waved it over to grand jury and never was endited. so i wish state or someone would intervein and help Ky. out a bit. Good Job WV is all i have to say wish that Ky would improve on the drugs dont want my children to grow up around all of this drugs are getting way out of control..

hpd just done this for media attention after all whos is the drumming up votes

Posted by: mojo on May 8, 2008 at 06:32 PM
they made arrests to help them in a murder of a detroit man. Who really cares? He should have stayed home how about the home boy paul blake who was murdered by a detroit thug who should have stayed home. if they would have an open season on drug dealers then they would pack up and go back home. HPD WHERE IS PAULS JUSTICE HE IS FROM THIS TOWN NOT DETROIT

they need to stop the doctors who over-prescribe narcotics for a lower back pain, etc. These doctors are a big a part of the problem as dealers.

hey just wanted to give mr. skip holbrook a round of applause for his wonderful job as police chief keep up the good work now all you have to do is figure out how too keep them off the street and how to get rid of the prostitutes off of every corner cause it seems as fast as u hall them in they r right back out there. well god bless u all

Wait, I thought that all HPD did was harass Marshall students??? Some of you all are as goofy as it gets. HPD does a great job and you still slam them... Way to go HPD

Posted by: Out So Soon??? on May 8, 2008 at 04:01 PM
For those interested, a quick check of the Western Regional Jail's website confirmed my suspicions...many of the individuals arrested yesterday are out on the street again today. Those people include Alberta Sullivan, Connie Hemmingway, Ronald Smith, Misty Kissinger, Tara Eplin, Jason Reed, Markus Mayo and Dylan Hickey. That amounts to 1/3 of those arrested on the various drug and solicitation charges. Pitiful!

Posted by: atv on May 8, 2008 at 03:53 PM
it wont last long because they will have to go and chase that atv off of the street

HPD IS DOING THERE JOB????? ARRESTING FOLKS THAT WILL BE OUT IN A DAY???? HALF THE PEOPLE THEY ARRESTED HAVE BEEN LOCKED UP A FEW TIMES AND OUT IN A DAY LIKE TELESE, CONNIE, RONNIE, WESLEY. AS YOU CAN SEE ITS POINTLESS, CAUSE NONE OF THEM LEARN, AND HPD DOESNT LEARN. AND WHY DO THEY DO THESE RAIDS "AFTER" SOMEONE GETS KILLED??? DETECTIVES ARE NOT DOING THERE JOB!! HAVE WE FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE 4 KIDS ON CHARLESTON, SHAWN SCOTT, STANLEY RUSSELL, LEAH HICKMAN, ETC??? I GUESS YOU HAVE, BUT I HAVEN'T!! SO THE HPD DOESNT GET ANY PRAISE FROM ME, FOR POINTLESS RAIDS TO SAY WERE LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON A MURDER, AND HOW MUCH DRUGS DID THEY GET OFF THE STREETS YESTERDAY??? DEA, FBI, STATE, AND HPD A LOT OF CARS AND SUV'S RIDING UP AND DOWN THE STREET LIKE CLOWNS IN A PARADE, IT WOULD SEEM AS GAS PRICES ARE SO HIGH, THEY WERE WASTING TAXES PAYERS MONEY, WHEN THEY COULD BE LOCKING THE HEADS UP IN PRESTRA. THE STREETS ARE TALKIN, BUT THEY CANT HEAR IT!!! IN THE WORDS OF FLAVA FLAV "WOOOOOOOOOOOW!!

Your language is so stereotypically over the top that it raises serious question as to the motives of your post. If you are trying to stir things up through acting, shame on you. We have enough problems as it is without you doing something that stupid. If you are indeed someone who is trying to insinuate this has nothing to do with guilt and everything to do with race, we don't want to hear it. Guilt is guilt no matter the color of one's skin, so don't start with the race thing!

Posted by: To Anonymous at 12:35 (and to No one) on May 8, 2008 at 02:28 PM
Keep quiet until you have something intelligent to say. I noticed that you did not mention the 4 kids killed on Prom night, the house riddled w/ automatic weapons, the prostitute killed on 6th ave., or the guy killed at Speedway on Hal Greer with a sword when you were mentioning the "better things" for police to do. That's because they were ALL drug related, and would have been poor examples of your "leave the users, pushers alone" suggestion. The ommission of these examples proves your not so stupid that you don't realize that most of the crime in Huntington would go away when the drugs do, so we have to assume your motives for such a post. But, if you both feel so strongly, show some guts and post your name. And if you would "hate to live near a nosey snitch", by all means MOVE. We don't want you, or anyone like you around. Go create problems elsewhere!

Posted by: To Latisha Latisha on May 8, 2008 at 02:21 PM
I think she means that druggies aren't safe. Just let us smoke and shoot up. I'm willing to let a few innocent people die so I can get my high. Girl I know got sent to the hospital when her boyfriend was on pot. She should've known to not be around when he's smoking. Stupid innocent bystanders getting in the way of our good time.

Posted by: Rocks on May 8, 2008 at 02:15 PM
ATTN: anonymous!!! Don't you realize that most of the crime in Huntington is the direct result of the drug problem in this city! GET A CLUE!!!!

Posted by: Another fed up person on May 8, 2008 at 01:57 PM
Some of the comments here stun me...why are you DEFENDING these people? Police have got to start somewhere to get the "bigger" fish. At least they're doing SOMETHING! THEY aren't the ones who turn them loose, it's our "judicial" system such as it is. I don't think anyone's saying it's pot that's killing people so you potheads here shouldn't get your knickers in a wad..we ARE saying we're sick of the crack, heroin, pills & hard stuff that is killing people here AND getting them killed by other druggies/dealers AND which have ruined young people in this area as well as adults. We're talking about the way drugs have taken over this entire City AND area to be fair, it's EVERYWHERE around here that's true & NEEDS to be cleaned up EVERYWHERE in Cabell & Wayne Cos. It won't be b/c too many important people aren't going to allow it to be cleaned up. Too many of them profit from drugs themselves or use them. At least HPD is trying. Good for them. BUT they'll get out like usual

Posted by: Bev on May 8, 2008 at 01:23 PM
I don't care WHY some of you people think they are being arrested. The fact remains they ARE being arrested. I think it's hilarious! And it is not just black people. I saw a lot of whites too, so stop with the race card again. Get a life and you won't care WHO is being arrested or WHY. You'll just be able to say that you live in a safer place. Amen ANOTHER VOICE!!

Posted by: Anonymous on May 8, 2008 at 12:59 PM
they (lawmakers) need tougher and stiffer penalties for these goons. hpd and the involved agencies did a good job, but the said part most if not all of them will be back on the street up to their old ways in no time. they need to make an example out of some of them

Posted by: ARNEESA on May 8, 2008 at 12:49 PM
Latisha, tell them girl. i have dated both black and white men, and i know for sure that the police treat them in a different ways. i have been to court with both colors and the black guys i have been with get treated worst then my white men, but the black guys treat me nicer. before to long they will take all of the good bleck men Latisha, YOU GO GIRL

Posted by: Anonymous on May 8, 2008 at 11:57 AM
RE: drug raids. Everything starts & stops at the top. Get rid of the big-time dealers! I feel sorry for the users. Most don't know what they're getting into when they use for the very first time. Drug use effects everyone in the community, especially loving and caring families of the user.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 8, 2008 at 10:50 AM
The only thing this proves is how drugs can comepletely waste tax dollars. Huntington and America are never going to win the war against drugs. Legalize them so the prices go down, the violence goes down, and tax them so we can make some extra tax money as opposed to throwing it down the drain. I am not trying to be negative, but realistic. People are never going to stop because it is illegal or they would have a long time ago, legalize them and give the american people the choice to throw their lives down the drain or not.

Posted by: To Latisha on May 8, 2008 at 10:05 AM
Really?! It sounds to me like your "man" is in jail for a reason...further, I saw more than just African Americans in handcuffs. Also, when you say "we are not safe in this city no more, let our people lone" are you referring to Huntington residents or are you referring to only members of the African American community? Just curious.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 8, 2008 at 09:41 AM
even if it was just the crackheads they will still get information. so actually this was a good idea. and besides at leasts it shows there out here doing there job instead of setting around. good job hpd!!!! keep taking them off the streets!!!

Posted by: this is funny on May 8, 2008 at 08:01 AM
they are arresting crackheads to tell on the dealers because they are clueless where they live and their names! hpd is a joke a real hahaha funny joke!!

Posted by: Another Voice on May 8, 2008 at 07:36 AM
To Lost Cause...It would seem so, but it seems more that the good people of Huntington have went inside, locked their doors, and cried, "Wo is me!". For all the Christians who live in a mindset of fear of the drug community, remember 2 Chorinthians 1:4 which simply says "Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." If every Christian in Huntington would reach out to one person imprisoned in the drug community, what kind of change could take place in Huntington? Just a thought.

Posted by: Lost Cause on May 8, 2008 at 01:13 AM
90% of those that posted on here so far appear to have some sort of compasion or empathy for these criminals. Case in point that the good people of Huntington left long ago and the low lifes appear to out number the good ones by 10-20 to 1.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 8, 2008 at 12:51 AM
They also need to do the same thing in Wayne County, They need to start thr raid in the small town of Fort Gay

Posted by: Anonymous on May 8, 2008 at 12:26 AM
YEA HPD IT DOESNT TAKE A ROCKET SCIENTIST TO ARREST A CRACKHEAD. HAS ANYONE HEARD ABOUT LEAH HICKMAN? NO, I BELIEVE THERE IS MORE WORK TO BE DONE. THE NEWS AND THE NEWSPAPERS SHOULD NOT JUST LET THEM BRUSH IT UNDER THE RUG EITHER. I WANT MORE UPDATES ON THE HICKMAN CASE. IF IT WAS A COP WHO GOT MURDERED, THERE WOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN AN ARREST. GUARENTEED! IS THERE ANY CLUES AT ALL. LET THE PUBLIC KNOW. ITS USUALLY THE WAY YOU ALL SERVE MURDERS ANYWAY IS THE PUBLICS HELP.

Posted by: nlj on May 7, 2008 at 11:06 PM
I'm glad to see they are cleaning up 9th ave but thats not the only place this stuff goes on in,those girls that are selling themselves for drugs are always arrested but never stay in jail, the one is suppose to be sentenced,so what happen she been on the run again until she was blasted this morning unexpectedly?she done time in prison before and it didn't teach her nothing so what now?once a thug always a thug?I guess so.they use these kinda people for information and then they let them walk,if you run your mouth you can get out of a lot in this town.they are guilty too so they need to do their time in jail just like anyone else whether they tell on others or not.PERIOD.

Posted by: It Does Hurt... on May 7, 2008 at 10:54 PM
It does hurt everyone when drug dealers and users are free to do as they please, someone craving drugs will do anything (rob, shoot, steal, kill) to get them. What we need to do is stand up for ourselves and our children, let not only the dealers and users, but also the police, judges, courts and everyone else know that we are not going to sit by and watch our town and our lives destroyed by drugs. We have voices, Let's demand we be heard!! Stand up for what is right and just! We shouldn't complain if we aren't willing to help make things right!! Good Job and Pat on the back to everyone involved in getting the trash off the streets.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 7, 2008 at 10:27 PM
Hell with the gas prices being so high, I wouldnt mind to spend some time in jail so I could get a warm meal. Why doesnt the police worry about the living instead of the zombies that like to smoke crack. At least the crackheads are getting a free meal and shower tonight. The drug scene will never end. This has been going on for years and it will never stop.

Posted by: Concerned citizen on May 7, 2008 at 10:21 PM
Keep up the good work HPD! But don't forget about the houses on 11th and 12th ave near 21st and 22nd street. I see so much traffic in that area and it all leads back to Sunoco. I hope all of your good efforts don't end after election is over. Please prove all of your critics wrong. We need to clean up our town and take it back from the dealers in Detroit and other large cities. To everyone else be sure to vote!

Posted by: anonymous on May 7, 2008 at 10:19 PM
way to go hpd you arrested a small portion of the drug dealers and smokers.what about the other areas of town.you know most of these people will be out and back to their way of life.i hope to see more arrests and soon.you arrest people and as soon as the cops are gone people are back out on the street.this cycle will never end unless people stand up and say no more and mean it.

Posted by: EDdaMAN on May 7, 2008 at 09:58 PM
I live in the area and have'nt been to the Sunoco gas station in over five years ,because of the crack heads and bums. The way gas prices are they are losing alot of money from me and alot of others that DONT WANT TO GIVE A BUM A QUATER FOR A FORTY.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 7, 2008 at 09:01 PM
Everytime there is a bust you only get the phenes, not the dealers. Hmmm, maybe the dealers are tipped off by the police. If there were so many warrants how many were actually served. Almost all arrest came out of the same house which is the house they bust in frequently. Phenes do not care they are like roaches, you spray one day and the next they are right back. Seems to me this an easy way to try and like they are doing something. This does not impress me, do some leg work HPD.

Posted by: hmmm.. on May 7, 2008 at 08:46 PM
Jamie said it best. They arrest them the court house just lets them go! Good job HPD! You know I think they should do some raids in Barboursville but they won't because they'd have to put their buddies in jail. By the way to the person who said Ashland is bad have you been there lately? The streets are clean and not filled with hookers and dealers!

Posted by: Brian on May 7, 2008 at 08:27 PM
FYI: Those that did not get arrested have now moved over to 12th & 13th Ave between Elm St & 17th St. I came home from work today & they were standing next to the church doing their dealing in broad daylight. I think I may quit my law abiding job and start selling in my hood.

Can't any of you just live with the fact that some people like to do drugs and smoke pot? Legalize and let them do it. Mind your own business. Cops just love this kinda media attention, it makes the drooling masses think they're actually doing something. All the "crackdowns" in the world will never stop anyone from using or selling drugs. It's illegal. There's a great market for it. All because of being ILLEGAL. Duh.

WELL WELL NO COMMENTS? WHAT NO ONE IS HAPPY THAT THEY DID GET SOME OF THE DRUGS. LET'S CHALK ONE UP FOR THE GOOD GUYS! SEE IT DOES PAY "SOMETIMES" TO RELY ON THE JUSTICE SYSTEM. AND HELP OUT AS MUCH AS WE CAN. STOP LETTING FEAR RUN YOUR LIVES. GOD DID NOT GIVE US A SPIRIT OF FEAR, BUT OF POWER, LOVE AND A SOUND MIND!

thats great and half of the arrest were at or around the gas station on the corner of 20th and 9th...you can get more at that gas station than gas.

I think it's great the HPD are attempting to clean up our streets, but what is disheartening is that our wonderful judges will slap these thugs on the wrist and have them home in time for dinner. Kind of makes you wonder what's the point?

Posted by: Puzzled on May 7, 2008 at 04:18 PM
I know people have had comments regarding this raid. I posted one this a.m. and it is not posted. Why is WSAZ not posting people's comments?

while i admire the work of the drug force why are they wasting their time these folks will be out of jail and home before the reports are finished. it really is a shame but good luck

This all fine and dandy, but shouldn't Huntington's finest be trying to solve unsolved murders? Did drugs have anything to do with the Hickman case or the teens that were gunned down three or four years ago. It seems to me like it is just another example of our tax money being spent on something that doesn't benefit any of us. I suppose the police can bust people, but don't ask them to crawl through a hole to find a dead body.

Posted by: MIKE on May 7, 2008 at 02:26 PM
The H.P.D Donut Gang brings in Professional help to do their jobs. Why dont they ask them to work all the murders that the Donut Gang can not solve? Hope the Feds stay away from Crispy Cream or they will end up with the Donut Gang.

I hope the HPD's and Chief Holbrook's hearts are in the right place in the right concerning this "sudden" sweep.....Isn't Felington up for re-election in less than a week?

Posted by: JOHN on May 7, 2008 at 01:39 PM
WAY TO GO GET ALL THE DRUG THUGS BUT DONT LET THEM OUT BEFORE YOU GET THE PAPER WORK DONE..

Posted by: Jamie on May 7, 2008 at 01:38 PM
Some one said it best in the Herald Dispatch's article on this.....the police are out there doing a good job but once they bring the arrested to the courthouse, its up to the Magistrates and Prosecutors to decide a bond and proceed with the case. I'm glad someone in the public is finally seeing how the system is failing them. We must vote for knowledgable Magistrates and when given the chance....a NEW PROSECUTOR.

From what I've heard Ashland is just as bad.

Posted by: :-) on May 7, 2008 at 12:48 PM
This is great! Now, if only they could KEEP them in jail! It's sad how quickly they get out. Good job though guys, I hope you get the murder information you need.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 7, 2008 at 12:35 PM
Well what a waste of more tax dollars. For goodness sakes, let them do the drugs if they want and why don't these stupid police officers just work on finding murderers. They still have no clue about Leah Hickman.... guess why the focus on drugs is b/c that's about the only "easy" thing for them to figure out!

Posted by: Anonymous on May 7, 2008 at 12:25 PM
Geezeeeee

Posted by: Joe on May 7, 2008 at 12:22 PM
Why are they doing the raids at 9:00. Won't these people be at work. Just kidding. How can people go through life with absolutely no positive effect on the world in which they live?

Posted by: Julia on May 7, 2008 at 12:05 PM
Excellent work HPD! All that drugs lead too is more crime and violence and to its utmost conclusion of death. As a victim of crime due to someones addiction I for one support the HPD's effort to get these people off the streets.

Posted by: LA on May 7, 2008 at 11:57 AM
Great job! Hope they get alot more!

THE ASHLAND POLICE SHOULD DO DRUG RAIDS. THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT I KNOW OF THAT COLLECTS WELFARE AND GOES TO OUTREACHES AND GETS PILLS AND SELLS THEM IN HUNTINGTON. GO JOB HUNTINGTON POLICE!!

It is about time the hard drugs are being siezed. meth, crack cocaine, and strong meds like oxycontins are destroying our youth and communities. Parents are distraught, babies are not being taken care of, burglaries, murder, and who knows what else occurs because of the problem with these drugs. And those so called methadone clinics DO NOT help the problem at all, they only get mega rich. Keep tracking those drug dealers and send them away. Protect our future and keep it bright.

I live in the west end of Huntington and believe u me drugs are running rapid down here too, seems like the police are just focusing on the end of Huntington and the druggies are moving west. Please focus on all areas of Huntington and come take the druggies out of my neighborhood too. I have a 14 yr old son and i can make one promise to police if my son is offered drugs by the druggies in my neighborhood they won't have to wait and watch to get them i will take matters into my own hands and clean up the neighborhood myself. I'm very fortunate to have a good child who knows drugs are wrong but whose to say what a druggie will try. So please as a parent please come west young guns and help us out to..........

It is GREAT that the police are trying to help clean up & take this trash off the streets of Huntington. Even if they have to run them through the system several times before they get sent to prison. Folks these drug dealers are killing the minds of our young. Help stop this by calling the police EVERYTIME you see drug activity going on. It takes everyone's help in acheiving a drugfree area.

Posted by: Kathy S on May 7, 2008 at 10:52 AM
Excellent! Now let's just hope the magistrates & judges don't let them beat the police back out before the paperworks finished like they usually do! KUDOS to all the police agencies involved. GOOD work! Thank you.

Kudos to law enforcement! In addition to illegal drugs, prescription drug diversion and theft are now high on the list. The more recent coordination and frequent drug bust "sweeps" indicates law enforcement is utilizing all the various sources of information to help track the dealers, users and these criminals down. Information collected and reported by the various state agencies and businesses who keep log books, records and also report suspicious prescriptions, as well as those who keep track of persons who make frequent inquiries or seek identification for controlled substances helps pinpoint areas and persons for surveillance. Everyone should report suspicious activity or concerns to law enforcement or anonymous tip phone lines.

YEAH!!!!! I hope they round up as many crumb bums as possible! I take my child to school every morning right near the area where that Detroit native was found murdered last week and I am always appalled at how the illegal activity seems to go on right out in the open for everyone (including my child) to see. Prostitutes soliciting vehicles, drug dealers hanging out in the parking lot of that Sunoco...Again, kudos to the law enforcement officials who are participating in this morning's raids!!!

Charleston PD needs to do the same thing. Starting with the 1200-1300 blocks of Milton Street and Piedmont Road

About time you all do something about all these crack heads...and drug dealers.

  • Myanmar's junta-backed constitution OK’d

epa01344159 A Burmese cyclone survivor searchs through the debris of his house at a cyclon devastated area in Kunyangon, Southern Myanmar, 14 May 2008. A storm in the Indian Ocean could be upgraded to a cyclone as it heads toward landfall in Myanmar, which is already reeling from Cyclone Nargis, the Joint Typhoon Warning Centre said Wednesday. Nargis has killed about 100,000 people and has left 1.9 million people in need of food, water, shelter and medicines. Hundreds of thousands of people living in the Irrawaddy Delta and the outskirts of Yangon have gone without relief supplies for the past 12 days because of a combination of poor infrastructure impeding deliveries and a reluctance by Myanmar's ruling junta to facilitate the rapid distribution of aid and allow an influx of professional relief workers who could speed up the process.
