WINFIELD, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man from Putnam County who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a young girl could spend up to five years in prison.

A judge sentenced Danny Cecil Friday to one to five years in prison. However, the judge will give him credit for the time he's already served, which is 578 days.

That means he could be up for parole in 11 months.

Cecil pleaded guilty to the charge back in April.

Investigators say there were actually two victims who were friends of Cecil's daughter, but as part of the plea deal, charges involving the second victim were dropped.

Back in 2006, Cecil was found guilty on the charges, but he took his case to the West Virginia Supreme Court and won.

The supreme court decided there were too many problems during the jury deliberations.

At the time, family members told WSAZ they agreed with the plea deal to ensure Cecil was labeled as a sex offender for life.

The court systems need to be policed. I'll bet if this was a family member of this "so called judge" 5 years wouldn't have been enough. It's no wonder that this country is in the condition it's in, our law makers, and I use the term loosely, are asleep on the job.

WSAZ....Quit using the word "judge" when you write these stories. The public has the RIGHT to know which of these idiots are making a mockery of justice!

Keep on electing these liberal judges (or electing liberals who appoint these guys)and this is exactly what we will continue to get. The entire judicial pool should be cleared out. Fire them all and start over because most of them are totally incompetent at their jobs!! I, for one, am SICK AND TIRED of the mess (and the joke) they have made of JUSTICE!

I'm sorry but I think that this should tell you something about the court system.Does no one understand that there was two girls not just one and they both have to go through the rest of there life thinking that nothing is going to be done if it happens again.I think any person be it man or women should be punished for abusing any under aged child. Because when you look at the big picture these people abusing children seem not to be suffering like the kids are. The kids have to suffer everyday not just the time they are in jail like the offenders do.These kids are scared forever there is no getting over being abused or raped.Sorry but this guy should have gotten life without parole let him suffer the rest of his life like the ones being abused.Children are not brought into the world to be abused every child deserves the best of everything. They are GODS gift to us .So these sick people abusing kids need to think before putting there nasty hands or any other part on an innocent child.

What kind of jail time is this? He will be back out on the streets in no time doing it again. It's like there was no justice at all handed down "promise you won't do this again?" What about the victims in this crime.

He ruins a childs life and gets five years. Its no wonder we have repeat offends. I'm all for cruel punishment when it comes to crimes thats the only thing that will work!

Just a slap the wrist!

5 years you've got to be kidding me. why didnt u just slap him on the hand and say bad boy. u give a man 30 days for sharing a little debbie cake and a man 1 to 5 for sexual abuse.whats wrong with this pic. this world is falling apart, when u let a man basically walk for sexualy abusing a young girl. the legal system sickens me.
