HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WSAZ) -- Two-time Huntington Mayor David Felinton beat three challengers to maintain his party's nomination for another term in office.

Felinton picked up 3,195 votes, 182 more than his closest challenger, Cabell County Commission President Bob Bailey. Shawn Bresnahan, the owner of the LeCook store in downtown Huntington, collected 1,085 votes, while Lucille Wight had 550 votes.

Felinton advances to the general election where he'll face Republican Kim Wolfe, also the outgoing sheriff of Cabell County.

For city council, Democrats Steve Williams and Rebecca Thacker advanced for the two at-large seats. They'll face Republicans Alex Vence and Mike Davis in November.

In District 1, James Ritter advanced for the Democrat party. He had no opposition and no challengers in the fall from the Republican party.

In District 2, Teresa Loudermilk beat Pete Gillespie by 9 votes in the Democrat primary. She'll face D. Everett Fullerton (R) in November.

In District 3, Democrat Frances Jackson won. She has no Republican opposition in the fall.

In District 4, Republican Nate Randolph was the only candidate to file in either party.

In District 5, Democrat Sandra Clements advanced and will run unopposed in November.

In District 6, Republican Mark Bates will face Democrat Raymond Browning.

In District 7, Democrat Scott Caserta will face Republican Teddy Kluemper III in November.

In District 8, Democrat Russell Houck faces Republican Levi Lovett.

In District 9, Democrat Jim Insco won the seat by 26 votes. He has no Republican opposition in November.

"Pothole" Felinton rides again. I will be voting for Kim Wolfe in November and I am a Democrat. "Pothole" Felinton has ruined this town. I say we get a class action lawsuit on behalf of everyone whose car has been damaged on his pitiful streets. I say we start a campaign against him: have T shirts made and everything. Maybe we could paint all the potholes MU green to attract attention to the issue. What's that line in the Beatles' "A Day in the Life" about 4000 holes in Blackburn, Lancashire? Ha! Apparently John Lennon never saw Huntington WV!!!

Wow, that's all I can say. I knew the people of Huntington were by and large apathetic idiots but I had no clue how bad it was. It's no wonder your city is broke, your police and fire departments are pathetic bare bones, and people are leaving in a mass exodus, with no one moving in to balance the exodus. I bet you old school Huntingtonians are regretting letting the interstate pass 5 miles outside the city now and pushing the mall to Barboursville aren't you?

I hope Mayor Fellington does not get elected again. If he does we will have to put up with the H.P.D Donut gang again. He will not, or can not, make the Donut Gang do their jobs. Remember folks if he is not mayor anymore maybe someone will make the Donut Gang go to work.

What I think is a travesty is the fact that the same magistrates were voted in. These people continually set low bails or sometimes no bail for the drug dealers that our police bring in. I don't want to hear you complain about it because a lot of you voted for them. Unless they somehow fanagled the computer system.

why would the people of Huntington still elect this man after all the cuts to your police and fire and city services. this mayor is not about the people he is all about himself. If you all care about police, fire and city services think hard because this mayor is wanting to put every citizen in Huntington in harms way and economic hardship. Democrats which I am a hard core Democrat it is time to wake up and vote for who is more quilified remember this guy just ran as a fraternity joke against Jean Dean and won with no experiance. There are families of police, fire, and city workers who need the insurance and wages that this man is trying to take away some friend of the unions he is. they must give some in todays economy but he is wanting to take it all. Wake up Huntington it is time to act and vote for a leader not just vote against someone because we may not like them for who they are look at their true ability to lead and protect our city and communities.

You want to know whats sad, the fact that the Mayor has not helped this city improve since he's been in office. He didn't know what he was doing when he was elected his first term and he doesn't know what he's doing now..he just got in because noone liked Jean Dean. There are somewhere around 45,000 residents in Huntington, and only a little over 5,000 voted on the Democratic Ticket??? As a 22 year old student I'm smart enough to know that changes need to be made, and you should have no opinion if you don't even vote. It's truely sad that citizens of this potentially great city could care less about voicing who they think should be in office. Good thing Kim Wolfe is going to beat out Fellinton in November. It's time for a change, and Fellinton is not it.

I, for one, am glad Felinton was chosen. Huntington had zero progress when Jean Dean and Bobby Nelson were in office. To the person who said Felinton had nothing to do with Superblock... why was this project not completed when Dean or Nelson served? At least Felinton took the reigns and made something happen. But hey, I suppose Jean Dean could have gotten Huntington a better deal on paving, right?! Granted, I am an Ohio resident, but I do 90% of my business in Huntington. I attend school in Huntington. Therefore, I have the right to voice my opinion! And, by the way... if you didn't vote, don't whine!

First of all I dont live in Huntington. And some will say you don't have the right to say anything oh well, I think Mayor Felinton is doing the best that he can do. Remember he doesn't make all the decisions by him self he has council to deal with and just because he may say yes they may say no or vise versa. Also running the city is like running your home if you don't have the money to buy a new car or remodel your home then you can't, just the same with the city's budget. We all have a budget to work with and the budget is getting smaller and smaller. The thing that I most like about Mayor Felinton is that I haven't heard him bad mouth others. I hate that. And he seems to be a good family man. God Bless you Mayor Felinton and your family. Keep you head up high.

More of the same Huntington....Don't complain about streets of disrepair, user fees, not enough police protection, and so on. The sad part is those of us who didn't vote for him are forced to suffer through another term.

Let's see... City User Fee is being misappropriated and our roads are not getting fixed. Crime is up, yet police force has been cut back. Businesses are being run out of town. Then again, last time, he let a chemical spill happen near a school and he was voted back in. I guess one way to get the pain from a gun shot in the foot is to shoot the leg off completely. Unbelievable!!! This man wants to impose a CITY SALES TAX!!! AND YOU VOTED HIM BACK!!! Those of you who voted for him are idiots... doing the same thing, yet expecting a different outcome. Wow!! I can't wait to move out of Huntington!!

I moved to Huntington nine years ago, and from my time here, I've learned that Huntingtonians are complete idiots. I had considered staying here to raise a family, but honestly, how can I even justify it? Just when I think these people can't do anything more stupid, they turn around and out-do themselves again.

It is true that Felinton continues to provide a shining example of how a Mayor should NOT lead. However, the thought of Bob Bailey (and his "bosom buddy" Scott Bias) in the Mayor's office was too much for many Huntingtonians to bear.

well, for there to be sooo many Huntingtonians to complain about all the issues in town, and then turn around and put the mayor(who got credit for a superblock building up which he had nothing to do with)back in office speaks volumes! Either those with vital signs didnt vote,or they've given up on any intelligent life showing up, or they're planning a slam dunk in November. Should be interesting to watch, or, another in a long line of blundering through another term! Come to think it, ya realize if Huntington was an animal and acted this way, we'd have all the signs we need to mercifully put it to sleep!
