NEW YORK (AP) - It's going to cost you even more for a fill-up today at Ohio stations.

Triple-A this morning puts the price of gas at $3.89 for a gallon of regular in Ohio. Premium is a whopping $4.31. Both are slightly higher than the national averages.

That about 71 cents a gallon higher than this time last year. And the price is expected to climb at least until the Memorial Day weekend.

The Energy Department forecast recently that prices would top out next month at an average of $3.73 a gallon. Many analysts now expert the national average to hit $4 a gallon in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the price of crude oil today has steadied above $124 a barrel. Crude prices slipped from record highs following a mixed report from the government yesterday on U.S. petroleum reserves.

that plan souns good xcept the government will impose the wrong regalation like a strike prevention method forced labor bill or jail you for not goin to work instead of going to the source

Posted by: ricky on May 21, 2008 at 04:27 AM
Hell yeah! lets strike, bet they cave in in a week...tops

Look people, the answer to this crisis is sooooo simple, noone can see it. UNITE AND QUIT DRIVING TO WORK..better yet, don't go to work at all...MASSIVE LABOR STRIKES WILL BRING ABOUT GOVERNMENT REGULATION.... when it becomes clear that we ,as americans, won't work for free, or work to make big oil barons rich, the government will impose regulations pertaining to the max price...but it will take a whole hell of a lot of us... If we are going to lose our homes because we can't afford to pay for them, lets at least get some resuls in the process.break free from the bonds of slavery that now envelope us. IT'S TIME AMERICANS FIGHT BACK...or are you so complacent in your wanna be middle class dillusions you forget WE THE PEOPLE matter too? A joint refusal to pay for gas (by not going to work) soon has corporate america siding with us to lean on the government. There is no law that says you have to go to work...you make yourself do that..for money...money you won't get to keep anyway

How long will it be before we can no longer afford to drive to work, buy food, afford our homes, or utilities? The oil companies are getting richer by the minute. Their profits are higher than ever. Middle class and lower class Americans are having to cut back on the every day necessities of life just to be able to afford to drive to work. Truck drivers are paying outrageous prices for diesel. The cost of living has increased for all of us, but the amount of money we earn hasn't increased. The cost of gas has burdened all of us and I see no end in sight. The President plays his usual blame game. He believes everyone other than himself is responsible. He believes the stimulus package will boost the economy. Wrong! people are going to use their stimulus payments to pay down existing debt. The extra money they would have normally had has been used for fuel, increased cost of utilities, increased cost of food...when does it end?

Why are we selling oil to other countries if there is such a shortage, It was on the news this week. Maybe if they ever get their pockets full enough the price might come down.LOL

Posted by: poor on May 17, 2008 at 08:20 PM
the rich are getting richer and poor goofy folks are making them that way cause we are all to lazy to walk or ride a bicycle, guess they are dishing it out and we are taking it and nothing we can do about it!

what am I doing wrong, I've tried to give an opinion and it never comes up. Thanks

Posted by: anonymous on May 17, 2008 at 05:13 PM
WHY ARE WE SELLING OUR OIL TO OTHER COUNTRIES, WHEN WE ARE PAYING SO MUCH FOR GAS HERE. IT WAS ON THE NEWS ONE DAY THIS WEEK??????????

Posted by: Anonymous on May 17, 2008 at 01:46 PM
ohio doesnt need to suck anything up Dwayne, i think you are way out of line, we've paid way over the average for gas for a couple years now, its getting old.

3.95 for gas, try desiel at 4.49 per gallon. Desiel used to be cheaper than gas. It takes less to refine, but costs more. I saw a bummper sticker that said it all, it read "If John Kerry won as President the only thing that would be 4.00 a gallon would be ketchup."

I agree thaqt gas prices are way too high. The prices eventually have an effect on most products. the cost for transporting products rises also, and consumers end up paying more for everything. At least it's not like it was back in 1973 and 1979 when gas was hard to find, motorists could only buy so many gallons at a time depending on your license plate number you could only buy gas on certain days of the week. Now if you have enough money it is readily available.

Stop whining! I am sick of everyone complaining. 4 bucks a gallon is great. Look at England, gas there is 8 bucks a gallon. Stop wasteful driving and ride a bike, or walk. If people stop using it, it will go down.

Posted by: Dwayne on May 15, 2008 at 11:18 PM
I agree that $3.73 per gallon of gas is high. However, Ohio needs to suck it up, for those of us in WV are paying $3.95 per gallon at the moment.

Ironton prices were at 3.96 this evening. Decisions, decisions... What else to cut out to be able to go to work to buy gas to go to work... Yea, minimum wage went up a little bit so the Oil companies had to jump the band wagon and raise the prices for thier chunk of it, the domino effect, now groceries are beginning to look like a "luxury".

Posted by: ANON on May 15, 2008 at 02:28 PM
$3.89? That's luxury! It's $3.95 here in West Virginia. I remember the days of paying $3.89. Those were glorious times. The sun seemed to shine brighter, the air was cleaner...
