CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - If embattled West Virginia University President Mike Garrison were to lose his job over a master's degree scandal involving the governor's daughter, he could get up to $255,000 in severance pay.
That's if the Board of Governors were to fire him without cause before June 30.
But Garrison's contract also says he would get nothing if he were fired for cause. Reasons could include dishonesty or incompetence.
The board has said it's unlikely to act on Garrison's future until after June 6, when the president is due to present a corrective action plan.
Faculty have twice demanded Garrison's resignation over his administration's decision to retroactively issue Heather Bresch an executive MBA degree she didn't earn.
