SEATTLE, Wash. (NBC) -- Washington state police are investigating a vicious sucker-punch caught on tape after a youth baseball game.

The incident occurred following a tournament game in Snohomish County over the weekend.

As the teams were shaking hands after the game one player pulls back and strikes another in the face.

The player who was hit and his family don't want to be identified, but said he was given stitches at a nearby hospital after the incident.

I've known this boy for most of his life and he is an extremely talented ball player and has not a mean bone in his body. I commend him for not retaliating and those of you who think otherwise should be ashamed of yourselves. In this day and age I do hope the child who threw this punch is punished severely for his conduct and hopefully be banned from all future sports in his high school career, perhaps that will teach him and all others that violence doesn't solve anything. While officials are at it perhaps his parents should be put through some CPS observation to determine if he has been taught this behavior in anyway. It is obvious that this child has some severe issues that need to be tended to otherwise his parents would not think it acceptable; it is appauling to think that they even find a way to acknowledge it in any way. BTW this was not little league for those of you who dont understand- this was a tournament played by select teams who pay $500 to register.

Ohioan, you got it right. People don't teach their kids anything these days. Respect, discipline and manners seem like a thing of the past. Only a few strive to instill goodness in their children, the rest are left to fend for themselves and however they can make it. I'm sure the little boy that did the punching was punished and if the boy that got punched did something vindictive to the other boy, I'm sure he'll think about what he's doing next time before something like that can happen again. Parents should not be proud of a bully. If parents don't teach their kids any better they'll never know. If you're raised the wrong way, you'll most likely end up doing the wrong thing, over and over again. I hope proud papa stops to think about the next time his kid bullies some other kid and instead of giving him a pat on the back, give him a swift kick in the rear.

To Ol'Redneck; I'm not an eloquent man, I am a woman, I did play softball, all thru grade school, middle and high school. I never said a thing about the league taking care of the situation, only made a comment to Proud papa, as many others have. He thinks it's grand to let your child beat up and bully other children. I was meerly pointing out his ignorance. It had nothing to do with the sucker punch that took place. I'm sure that's being dealt with. Like everyone else on this site, I don't agree with what proud papa said. He only showed his ignorance by submitting his thoughts here. Maybe you would be proud to have a thug of a son, but the majority of parents who love their children want the best for them. And last time I checked, going to jail or juvie wasn't the best thing for children. People need to raise their children with discipline, manners and respect. It's not taught at school, it's left up to the parents and these days some parents don't bother with it.

This is the third time i`ve tried to submit my thoughts on how wrong this kid was,but i guess they don`t want to hear it........

Good Lord!!These comments show just how uneducated and ignorant our society has become...The Fathers that left the ignorant comments should be hunted down and there children taken...Im not saying a person should not defend theirselves but try and teach your children right from wrong...

Posted by: Kids repeat their parents on Jun 2, 2008 at 09:14 PM
As a father of a past Little League player - I saw first hand the way some of these kids and parents conducted themselves. Parents could not control their own emotions and yelled hateful things at opposing players. They clearly have no respect for the game or anyone else. The kids repeated their parents actions and attitudes. Now I get to see the kids again as adults. I am in law enforcement. I predicted back then 6 kids that would be in jail before they hit 21. 5 of the 6 are now felons. So yes - parents - go ahead and be proud of your little 'slugger' now. I will see him eventually again - in an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs. Too bad you encouraged him to be just like you. Instead of teaching him courtesy and respect, you sent him to me. Hope you are proud now.

To Bigmamma, if your child got sucker punched by another player you'd get a little hyped up to!

Posted by: Bev on May 31, 2008 at 10:46 PM
This boy should be punished. I agree with SO CAL DAD. Some of these people need a LOT of education. ALLI: very funny lmao.

Posted by: worried on May 31, 2008 at 09:39 AM
This behavior is not 'standing up for what someone believes in' this is simply an excuse to hurt someone. That's what our society is about these days and this is what we're teaching our children. You do not have to keep self-control, you just hurt others and say whatever when you don't get your way and then make a bunch of excuses why you shouldn't be responsible for your deliberate actions. If you don't like someone saying things or hurting your child or yourself then why do people insist on behaving the exact same way in return. You're suppose to behave differently if you don't like the behavior someone else is doing not copy it and look for reasons why its ok when you do it but not the other person. WE REALLY NEED HELP IN THIS SOCIETY!!!!

Posted by: bigmamma on May 31, 2008 at 03:42 AM
Is this all we have to worry about here is a little league player hitting another kid? Who killed Leah Hickman?

Posted by: Coach on May 31, 2008 at 12:56 AM
Thank you So Cal Dad - just like scouts there are principles invested in little league. All of you promoting hitting, retaliation, violence, better go back and reread the point of playing - if you can read. Pro (paid) players are suspended and/or fined all the time for hurting others or violating their rights. As a coach I can guarantee you any player on my team with unsportsmanship attitude or behavior will be severely punished by physical activity but no game time - If they do it twice their gone no questions. I will not tolerate this absolute foolishness nor parents who promote it - no matter who starts it. I teach the kids if they loose control of themselves then they loose their chance to play. That's how it should be not this violent, trashy, dirty, foolishness.

To: Proud Papa... You don't have enough sense to raise a child.. Your child needs to be removed from your home..

Posted by: Ol' Redneck on May 30, 2008 at 08:06 PM
What's the matter, Ohioan? Didn't make the team as a kid? Or, maybe you were bullied and lost your lunch money every? In any case eloquence doesn't make the man. The league has rules to deal with this situation. Little League Baseball has a great history and is rich in tradition, however this is not the first time this has happened, nor will it be the last. Now, everyone have a Zoloft, let the League Officers do their job, and get back to running your own lives... Jeez.

Posted by: Alli on May 30, 2008 at 07:56 PM
My guess is that Proud Papa and Proud Dad are the same person because surely God did not create 2 identical idiots! How bout teaching your boy how to smash a beer can on his head! Now thats bonding!

Posted by: So Cal Dad on May 30, 2008 at 05:13 PM
Wow, seems to me like a little reading is in order. Maybe you knuckleheads who think this was acceptable behavior need to read what Little League stands for and the tenents it was based on. A little education goes a long way and by the attitudes, grammer and spelling below, it would NOT be wasted!

Posted by: Sorry for your son on May 30, 2008 at 04:15 PM
Hey Proud Papa, maybe you should change your name to "Proud Papa of a future convict." Wonderful life lessons you are teaching your child. (SARCASM ALERT)

Proud dad and proud poppa: Keep this in mind. The kid that your kid beat up, has a dad too. I just hope that the kids dad is 6'9" 300 lbs of anger management flunkie that will find you and show you a REAL beating..

Posted by: Amazed on May 30, 2008 at 12:57 PM
Proud Papa/Proud Dad, what a horrible thing to teach your child...You should be ashamed of yourself. Your line of thinking sickens me.

Posted by: mom on May 30, 2008 at 12:26 PM
What an idiot that Proud Papa is. If his child ends up like him, he'll be destined to a life of ignorance. From the father's grammar I'd say the son had better not miss a day of school or he'll end up just like his father. What a shame.

WHAT HAPPENED PRIOR? IT WAS'NT A SUCKER PUNCH; HE SAW IT COMING, BEING BIGGER THAN THE KID THAT SOCKED HIM WHY DID'NT HE RETALIATE? CLAN RECRUIT

Posted by: Chad on May 30, 2008 at 11:20 AM
What the kid did was clearly wrong. Sucker punching is gutless and everybody knows it. I'm sure that kid will get his in due time. What I find so interesting are the pathetic "adult" responses I read here. Proud Papa, you're obviously of limited intellect so I won't waste my time explaining why sucker punching someone in the face is wrong. I just feel sorry for that son of yours who is receiving such shotty guidance. I get the feeling someone tore into you as a kid and now you feel the need to compensate by rewarding your kid for being a punk. Hmmm I wonder why the other kid never got a punch in when he got into a fight with your boy. Maybe because the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. He's just emulating his father, a simple-minded neanderthal.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 30, 2008 at 11:04 AM
My kid would've hopped in my truck, driven over that little punk, all the while screaming out, "Don't vote for Obama! Haven't you had enough of Husseins?!" That's good parenting. You have no idea how hard it is to teach ignorance.

Posted by: booger on May 30, 2008 at 10:24 AM
I hope you parents who are proud of your kids for fighting have enough money saved up to bail out your kids. Your kids are going to grow up to be stupid, uneducated, rednecks who think sucker punching people is fun. Nobody likes those people.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 30, 2008 at 10:03 AM
And here we have a prime example of the problems our society faces. Way to go, proud papa! Lead by example! "As soon as my boy came home I said thats my boy and patted him on the back. I was off for a few days so me and him went fishing during his suspension. Thats my boy!"

Posted by: Baseball Mom on May 30, 2008 at 08:34 AM
With comments like these "Proud Papas" are making, it's now wonder why things like this happen. It's definitely a result on parenting, obviously. God, I hope their wives have more sense than they do about how to raise their sons. If they act like this now, how are they gonna be able to function in the real world. All they know now is to throw a punch and you get to go fishing with "daddy". GOOD LESSON TO BE TAUGHT EINSTEIN!!

Posted by: Ohioan on May 30, 2008 at 08:19 AM
Proud Papa, what a loser you must be, promoting your son to fight. No wonder things are the way they are now. We can see your intelligency level isn't very high according to your wording. "I dealed with it alright". Did you not go to school? The correct terminology is "dealt" with it. Poor kid for having you as a dad. What a waste of life.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 30, 2008 at 02:42 AM
THE KID WAS SHAKING HANDS WHEN HE WAS PUNCHED IN THE FACE. HE GETS RIDICULED BECAUSE HE DIDN'T HIT BACK...HE WAS THE MATURE ONE IN THE SITUATION. AS FOR CALLING HIM A WHIMP...HE WAS CAUGHT OFF GUARD WHEN HE WAS HIT IN THE FACE, AND HE DIDN'T EVEN FALL. HE JUST WALKED AWAY, HIS PARENTS SHOULD BE PROUD.

Posted by: Michael on May 30, 2008 at 02:01 AM
Whatever happened to sportsmanship? That thug should be kicked off the team and out of the league. What if he had done worse damage, or worse yet nailed the kid in the eye and left permanant damage. There is no excuse to what he did and no room for that kind of behavior in sports at any level. If that kid was wronged on the field, he should have been the better person and left it on the field, not stoop to such a low-class action. I'm embarrassed to be an American, let alone a human being for some of the absolute stupidity that some people in this nation and world display. There are animals that are more civil out there than some of us. Shame, shame, and more shame on this kid and I pray to God that he is taught a lesson for his action.

Posted by: Proud Papa on May 30, 2008 at 12:56 AM
My kid beat up another, and so what! I was proud of him. Told him he better win his battles or not come home. You know? I mean I want my kids to be good but I want them to stand up for what they believe in. I posted a comment before, and it wasnt posted. True story. My son got into a fight and the principle called me at work. I asked if he won and was told that the other kid never got a punch in. I told my boys principle that it would be dealed with. I dealed with it alright! As soon as my boy came home I said thats my boy and patted him on the back. I was off for a few days so me and him went fishing during his suspension. Thats my boy!

Posted by: Bill on May 29, 2008 at 11:12 PM
The kid who got hit should have gone after the punk with a bat. This type of stuff needs to be dealt with right away. The punk who threw the punch is most likley going to end up in prison or worse if he keeps it up.

Posted by: Proud Dad on May 29, 2008 at 10:30 PM
I can only hope my kids will take matters in to their own hands when something goes down. My motto to them is, "if you start it, finish it. If he starts it, and you dont finish it... dont come home!" My kid got into a fight the other day and when the princple at Midland called, I asked "Did he win the fight?" The principle said "The other kid didnt get a punch in." I told him I would deal with it. When my boy got home I said "I'm proud of you son" and patted him on the back. My boy knows that he better be the one who finishes it. He did, and I love my boy.

I think the kid should be removed from the team and never be allowed to play in the league again , because he is not a sportsman, he is a punk !!!! , it is a game for fun and should be treated like a game , parnets are to blame for the poor sportsmanship .

All the negativity! What a shame! It is up to the adults to teach the children right from wrong and I can assure you that most comments on here are mearly to start trouble. What a pitty!

Posted by: Lola on May 29, 2008 at 04:23 PM
How ashamed most of y'all should be. You make character judgements on a young kid that you DO NOT KNOW, saying "he probably deserved it" or other such nonsense. How would you like people halfway across the country posting such things about your child? And for grown people to say such things about a kid anyway.... if y'all had any common sense or decency, you would be ashamed, but somehow I think that'll never happen.

Posted by: momma of 3 boys on May 29, 2008 at 04:16 PM
I agree on teaching sportsmanship but, I also feel you should teach your kids stand up when they believe some one is in the wrong. The court has NO place in any of this, the kid that got punched must be just like his parents. Tattle tales get it in the end, or in their mouth in this case!!

Posted by: Christian Segura on May 29, 2008 at 03:47 PM
The player who threw the punch should be suspended for one year from baseball.

Posted by: Big Daddy on May 29, 2008 at 02:44 PM
From reviewing everyone's comments it is clear why our society has turned into what it has. When we grew up and you had a problem even in baseball you settled it on or off the field... not in the court room. People need to stop trying to "charge" or "imprison" every person for every little thing and go back in time when kids like this one had B@LL$ and handled it right at the timea it happened... or shortly after. Forget the wheat grass, suspensions, and charges and get back to kicking someone's @$$ when they need it! If the other kid couldn't stick up for himself it is obvious how much of a man he will grow up to be... most likely JUST LIKE DAD!!!

Posted by: Anonymous on May 29, 2008 at 02:39 PM
I say this child done such a horrible crime, he should be put on trial as an adult and given the death penalty. We all know he is going to grow up and be a mass murderer !!!!

It was a fight between teenage boys. Get over it. From some of the comments here I can tell that the wussification of America is clearly underway....SISSIES!

Posted by: Hero on May 29, 2008 at 01:37 PM
Ha this is great. The pansy shoulda went after him but no he didnt. Why, cause that punk deserved it. I hope my kids will do the same if a punk runs his mouth during the game. If you cant keep your mouth shut, you deserve to be decked!

Posted by: Nadine on May 29, 2008 at 12:07 PM
Come on folks, it was one hit. There were plenty of boys' fights when I was in school, especially in sporting events, and those boys grew up just fine. I'm sure there had to be some reason behind it. That doesn't make it right, but understandable. It was between 2 boys and no weapons were involved. The only reason we are hearing about this incident is because it was caught on tape.

Posted by: kat on May 29, 2008 at 10:57 AM
What happened to the good old days? You get into a little scuffle, you go home and take your punishment. It's over. Things today get blown out of porportion!!!!!

Posted by: Shari on May 29, 2008 at 09:43 AM
I can't believe some of the comments here. The kid that got punched had to have stitches. That's horrible! And you all condone that?! God help your kids. It's behavior like this that causes kids to grow up to be hoodlums, thieves, murderers, and end up in jail. The kid that threw the punch should definitely be punished, and his parents should pay the hospital bills for the kid that was punched. I don't care if the kid was mouthing off or not, he didn't deserve to get hit like that.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 29, 2008 at 09:29 AM
You're all idiots who are saying big deal here. Teach your children sportsmanship and that it's not OK to walk through the line that is supposed to be teaching them sportsmanship and punch another kid in the face. You are the kind of people who are raising children who end up violent criminals.

Posted by: Mom on May 29, 2008 at 09:19 AM
I've had kids playing in Little League for 16 yrs. Its hard to believe that the kid doing the hitting just did it randomly. I'm not saying that he should have hit anyone...we just don't know the entire story. At this age, boys are very passionate about sports, winning and doing their best. I think the boy was wrong for putting his hands on anyone, he should be punished and then let it go. This is the kind of thing that gets the parents involved and people go to jail. I had a coach throw an bat through the dugout and bounce it off the fence 2 ft from a group of kids heads...it took all of 3 seconds for all the moms(including me) to clear the stands and corner the idiot. Needless to say, he was informed HIS head would be in danger if he did that again! He was mad because they weren't winning! Pathetic!

Posted by: Percy on May 29, 2008 at 08:59 AM

I think that the young gentleman throwing the punch should be suspended or kicked out of the league entirely. Given community service for 1 yr that involves learning the meaning of good sportmanship.

Posted by: AnonymousII on May 28, 2008 at 03:51 PM
Its really a sad thing that's happened here. Its actions like this that lead to someone getting killed. Whatever happened to a friendly game and sportsmanship? There should be serious consequences for the one who threw the punch. That's no way to support the team. It gives every kid that does want to play a bad name. What a shame!

Posted by: Likely Story on May 28, 2008 at 03:23 PM
I wonder what the kid did to deserve the punch. The fact they did not want to be identified means that their son most likely instigated the whole situation.

Posted by: Disgusted Parent on May 28, 2008 at 02:52 PM
How barbarous! I'm not talking about the children, I'm speaking of parents who would allow these boys to participate in such unenlightened activities. Organized sports just festers violence in our society. This boy is a victim of bad parenting! Yes, this boy should be punished. Perhaps a few envigorating anger management counseling sessions, but the parents also need to be taught more progressive parenting techniques. The ways of the past simply won't do any longer. I would also submit that the comissioner of this "league" also be incarcerated. In my opinion all juvenile sports should be banned. Imagine, it's easy if you try. Besides if the parents aren't driving their kids to these events they could reduce their co2 footprints. Less violence and a cleaner environment, It's a win-win if you ask me. Perhaps activities such as jogging would be appropriate after which a nice glass of wheat grass juice would be quite refreshing! Ah yes, life is good!

Posted by: Anonymous on May 28, 2008 at 02:25 PM
the boy who threw the punch needs to be taught more self-control. if the boy who was punched did say or do something in the game that still does not give the puncher the right to resort to violence. the temptation to use violence as an equalizer is in every person but it does not make it acceptable behavior in most situations. it is up to the puncher's parents to decide what is acceptable but i think what he did should have some consequences. standing up for yourself does not necessarily mean punching someone in the face because you are mad and fustrated.

Posted by: Stan on May 28, 2008 at 02:21 PM

The kid that got punched must be a real wimp or he would have hit back.I would rather my child be kicked off for holding his own and earning some R-E-S-P-E-C-T.That sissy boy will grow up to be a girlie man. If my child got hit like that and didn't retaliate, they would surely get a butt busted when they got home.

Posted by: JJ on May 28, 2008 at 01:20 PM
I echo Jason's thought...The boy who done the punching needs to be punished, more then likly the boy who got punched asked for some of what he got. A return to the old days would likly cure this. Today a big deal will made of this probably a law suite, adults fighting, if either boy has to take a trip to the wood shed the parent will be investigated for child abuse and it go's on and on. The boy who punched needs to publicly apologize for handeling this wrong then let the boys alone, they will work it out on their own. Most likly being good friends one day.

Posted by: yeah_Bill on May 28, 2008 at 12:22 PM
Yeah Bill, why don't we just kick that boy off the team and out of school? Well, ok, let's let him sit around the house all day, angry, feeling mistreated, thinking of ways to get back at his tormentors. Then, as he gets older and has no schooling, he'll have a hard time getting a job that pays anything, so, he'll resort to crime. How about this instead? The boy that threw the punch gets to go to ball practice everyday and run laps around the fenceline until he feels like dropping? Also, for the next 3 or 4 games he will not play but must sit on the bench? If the team loses, the other team mates can bring up how they were weakened by the loss of one player. If they win, they can comment on how they won without anyone having a bad attitude and throwing a punch. Either way, punishment from the ones that this boy seeks acceptance from, his team mates would be far more effective than the judicial system.

anonymous, you are ridiculous. I played ball as a kid and yeah trash talk goes on, but this brat needs put off the team. people who try to justify this behavior are the reason it goes on.Kids are suppose to learn sportsmanship. The brat needs his rear kicked.

Posted by: Ben on May 28, 2008 at 11:32 AM
What the kid did was wrong. However my questions is what did the kid who got punched say or do during the game or at another location. I observed on the video that the puncher was smaller than the punchee. Was there verbal taunting from the punchee or any type of bullying that led to this incident. There usually is.Sometimes physical retaliation settles a riff quickly. Having said that the puncher will still have to face punishment of sorts including medical bills unpaid by insurance.

Good one Anonymous. You go on thinking that the next time someone socks you in the teeth. It's going to happen as you say so don't cry when it happens to you. Change tires for a living do you? Grow up.

I had a combination coach/ parent/ umpire screaming at my son to "dry-up" because he showed emotion (cried) after he struck-out during an All-Star game last year. We figured it was best to keep him out of organized sports than to have to deal with abusive idiots. Parents that can't control their own kids shouldn't be coaching some one else's kids.

Posted by: Jason on May 28, 2008 at 10:34 AM
The player that got hit was probably mouthing off. Or this was a way to get back at him for something he did in the game. Everything has become so competitive and even sometimes dangerous. What happened to the days where Little League games were fun? Yes, you wanted to win but we didn't knock someone out and parents weren't yelling at the coaches.

Posted by: WOW! on May 28, 2008 at 10:04 AM
After reading some of the comments on here I am appalled!! What kind of parents are you saying that it is okay for your children to fight? I know the old saying that kids will be kids but kids can also be given other options if the parents are responsible enough to teach them other options. Shame on all of you barbarians!

Posted by: me on May 28, 2008 at 09:52 AM
To proud parent...I have never seen anyone bring a couch to the ball field. Usually just a lawn chair. Ha Ha

Posted by: Beth on May 28, 2008 at 08:40 AM
I don't see how some of you can sit there and call this boy a sissy or whatever. Let me say this, my son got jumped a while back in school, and he didn't have a choice, but to hit back. He got 3 days suspension for it, because he hit back. Even when the other kids said the other kid started hitting my son first. So this kid probably didn't want to get kicked off the team or whatever. How dare you all call him names like that.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 28, 2008 at 08:09 AM
I have read all the comments and as a parent of a little league player I see kids get upset all the time. 99% of the time words are exchanged and the game goes on. Of course this doesn't make the news, it doesn't get talked about. Only the ones who fight are newsworthy. Unfortuneatley boys will be boys and they are probably playing a game today and the parents are the only ones upset. Do any of you remember being a kid and getting caught up in the moment? I don't condone the action, but it is going to happen. We have become a society of wimps and scream jail time any time something happens. Get over it. They are kids.

Posted by: Joe on May 28, 2008 at 08:09 AM
The rest of his teamate's should have cleaned house on the punk.

Posted by: proud parent of 2 on May 28, 2008 at 07:11 AM
if my kid gets picked on them my kid has every right to sucker punch the other, now if they start it that is wrong and mine will be punished for it, we need the whole story not just part of it. alot of PARENTS are out of control at these games as well as the couches. example the couch will pout and throw a fit if his team losses. great sportsmanship

Posted by: DIRTY on May 28, 2008 at 12:55 AM
I THINK ITS GREAT.AT LEAST HE STANDS FOR WHAT HE THINKS IS RIGHT.DID YOU SEE THE YOUNG MAN THAT GOT HIT?HE WAS READY TO RUN AND CRY LIKE A SISSY.WAY TO GO SLUGGER!

Posted by: Al on May 28, 2008 at 12:52 AM
have any of you been to a little league game lately? some of the parents act worse then the kids do, i don't condone kids doing this but it is a part of playing sports it will happen no matter how much you teach your kid not to or they wouldn't be playing, however most if not all is started when the parents get into the mess, for example my brother plays little league and at a game he threw a wild ball and the person that was supposed to catch it didn't and it hit a car window and busted it and the owner of the car showed their a$$ wanting my parents to pay for the window and trying to get her son to start a fight with my brother over this thing, so it's not always the kids starting stuff like this the parents have a lot to do about it

Posted by: Anonymous on May 28, 2008 at 12:38 AM
I say we let the kid that got hit take a bat to the other one. THAT'S some news.

Posted by: Mike on May 28, 2008 at 12:37 AM
I have to admit I did something similar as a kid. I was suspended for a week, in witch i had to run at every practice, and every game that week. I also had to apologize to my team, and to the other player. Then I got to visit the ole wood shed with dad. Even though I thought the other guy gave me a cheap shot earlier, I learned that there is a right way and a wrong way to handle situations. These are in fact kids just like I was, and an approriate punishment is not condoning, but don't go to extremes. Any parent that says they would go to jail if another kid hit them really bothers me. If we are talking about an adult hitting a kid thats one thing. Are you going to fight your childs battle all of your life.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 28, 2008 at 12:27 AM
this is behavior is uncalled for! this kid should not be allowed to play any sport and should spend alittle time in jail

Posted by: Anonymous on May 28, 2008 at 12:08 AM
Nothing will prob. be done at all. If anything he will be banned from a couple of games if not the rest of the season (the season is about over) So once again a slap on the wrist. This little deliquent needs to be used to set an example. There is no room for stupidity like this in sports. It will keep getting more dangerous. What if the punk had a ball bat?

Posted by: Christi on May 27, 2008 at 11:53 PM
circumstances we might not know...did the kid beam him? if he did he had it coming.Did the kid run his mouth?if so he had it coming,so lets not rush to judgement..."if the fist didn't fit,we must aquit"

Posted by: Austin B on May 27, 2008 at 11:50 PM
hmmmm, your such a brave soul, how about teaching your kid to hold his ground and fight back, gosh,is your child still nursing the teet or what?

Posted by: Anonymous on May 27, 2008 at 11:43 PM
first off the kid is probably a spoiled brat but definately a delinquent in the makeing second why would this even make our local news i only care about seeing what happens around our communities who cares about washington

Posted by: self control on May 27, 2008 at 10:18 PM
I am so tired of 'kids will be kids'! They believe doing this type of behavior is ok because we as adults either condone the behavior or choose to not really teach against it. Kids and especially boys need repeatedly taught if they want to be accepted in a group, on a team, in their family then the violence has to stop. Our indifference to it sends the message that this behavior is ok. The only way this type of behavior should ever be ok is if you want your son or daughter locked up behind bars or completely unable to participate in families, schools, or later work places. If you don't like that idea then teach them and make them understand they MUST have self -control including physically and verbally to survive life.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 27, 2008 at 10:03 PM
That was low and no class what so ever but it was kids no need to an investigation or charges. You know it was thrown for some reason. We have enough cases in the justice system already we don't need a fight no matter how guttless in the court system.

Posted by: hmmm on May 27, 2008 at 09:44 PM
Let any kid hit my kid like that and I'd be in jail...

Posted by: Beth Ann on May 27, 2008 at 09:34 PM
That is awful. That boy should be kicked off the team and never allowed to play for that school again. I think his parents should have to pay for his doctor bills also.

Posted by: j on May 27, 2008 at 09:23 PM
the little brat should be banned from all sports, I am sure this is a learned behavior, product of his homelife.

Posted by: hunter on May 27, 2008 at 09:05 PM
He gave 5 the wrong way.

Why is this on Local News? A man is injured in a mining accident, And i have to search toward the bottom of the page, but a kid getting hit in WASHINGTON is at the top. Surprised it was "Breaking News"

BAM! AHAHAHAHAHa

Posted by: Emily on May 27, 2008 at 08:05 PM
This is ridiculous. I think the child that threw the punch should have some kind of punishment.

Posted by: bill on May 27, 2008 at 07:56 PM
kick him off the team and kick him out of school. permanently. then, he will find out about being a s--- head.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 27, 2008 at 07:48 PM
It's clips like this that show that media outlets are only concerned with rating$. How does society benefit from watching these types of video clips over and over again? Why do we glorify these actions? I have heard that the media used to be more responsible.

Posted by: annoymous on May 27, 2008 at 06:51 PM
Only a punk would throw a sucker punch. There are at least nine guys on a baseball team. At least nine people should have been beating the crap out of this kid. He'll probably get some "time out" and be required to get counseling.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 27, 2008 at 06:45 PM
they are kids. things happen. maybe they shouldn't...... however they do.

Posted by: coach on May 27, 2008 at 06:30 PM
This is awful. I coach 6-8 year olds and you'd be surprised at the mean things boys do and say even at this age. While our team was shaking hands after a game last week a little boy kept telling our team, "You suck". I've heard baserunners call other players "loser" if they miss a ball. The one that surprised me,though was they boy making a slashing motion across his throat towards other boys and nobody said anything to him. I guess this stuff doesn't really "surprise" me in this day and age but it's a shame that children are already acting this way at such a young age.

Posted by: kathleen on May 27, 2008 at 06:13 PM
This child seems to have no self control and is displaying poor sports manship. This kid needs to be ban from all sports until graduation. Also, the parents need to pay for the medical bills of the injured kid.
