HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police have arrested the man they say stole nearly $1000 from the back room at Empire Books in Huntington.
34-year old Shannon Lee Johnson of Catlettsburg, KY has been charged with robbery, and breaking & entering.
Police were able to use surveillance video from the store to catch Johnson
Police say the crime happened Monday afternoon when Johnson sneaked into back room and waited until a bookstore employee to finish her lunch.
“I got chills when she told me someone was back there while I ate lunch,” Kayleigh Stevens, a bookstore employee, said
Jessica Messinger, a manager, said the office was left unlocked for ten minutes, and she missed the thief by about 30 seconds.
Johnson is also accused of robbing two businesses last month. Police say Johnson stole a wallet on May 6th from the back room of the CVS at 2901 5th avenue.
Then last week, police say Johnson stole a wallet from a purse in a locker from Cabell-Huntington Hospital.
Johnson is being held on a 70 thousand dollar bond in the western regional jail. Johnson's court date is set for June 13th.

this man is a constant problem. He stole items at a local hospital on Tuesday afternoon just after robbing this book store. He should have to stay in jail and hopefully return all of the items that he has taken from people.
