SISSONVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department says the accident victim was 53-year-old Hilda Wines from the Sissonville area.

A truck crashed into Wines while she was trying to turn off of Route 21 Sunday afternoon. The Sheriff's Department says excessive speed played a factor.

The collision caused the truck to spin and crash into several parked cars in a nearby parking lot. A total of six cars were involved in the crash. No one else was seriously injured in the accident.

So far, no one has been charged in the crash.

I read about this terrible tragedy online tonight. I was close friends with the Wines family when I lived in Sissonville as a younster. I loved that family like they were my own. My heart goes out to Cricket, Sandy and the rest of the family. I don't know if you remember me, but I think of you often. My prayers are with you.

Kendra: If you and your boyfriend are the people I am thinking of, then he drove a Dodge Ram 1500 - silver. Honey,I had that very same truck and it doesn't red line or shut off. We went to the drag strip with mine and it will do 110 mph!

KENDRA.....Maybe, You should go back to school or if you are still in school you really need to study your English and Spelling before you post your comments. Looks like you might need some help. So if I were you I would not comment without the dictionary near by. Hilda was my dear friend.

Your post makes NO SENSE AT ALL....The police reinactment states Chris was traveling in excess of 110 MPH....Please get your facts straight before you post....Chris is guilty and he knows it...you know it...and so does everyone else...He just doesn't want to go to jail....OH WELL HE SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BEFORE!!!! He took an innocent woman's life becuase he does not care about anyone's well being but his own....Chris has been in and out of trouble for quite some time. THIS TIME he WILL pay for his actions....And yes, I would say this to his face....but it probably wouldn't be a happy time in his life. He nor you realize exactly what he has done...A family lost thier daughter....her only daughter lost her mother...Those who knew her lost a wonderful friend...YOU CANNOT TAKE THAT BACK....but we can keep this from happening again....I say lock him up and throw away the key....He needs to rot in jail...God Bless You Hildee. RIP.

The police pulled the data recorder out of his truck. It said he was going 53 during the impact. When he was stopping his front left tire gave out. There was no way to stop or control any vehical like that and that is way he ended up in the oposing lane and even if he was trying to pass that is not a double line it is a passing lane so how much do you know MAD! So that is my point in keeping you so called facts to yourselves! And on a personal note he is not hiding out espacely from any one around here! So every one can keep running your mouths about something you dont Know and about someone you dont know and you dont have the brass to put your name so say what you want over the computer but im sure you would be sounding different if you was face to face with him or if you were in the same place. Some advice quit commenting on something you dont know jack about. and one more thing if you had half a brain you would take in account the weight differince of the vehicales.speeding is notafact

Kendra: you can't spell: STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!!!

Posted by: MAD on Jun 14, 2008 at 10:29 PM
Kendra: have you seen the pictures of the car? Do you think going the speed limit would do that to a car? NO, IT WOULDN'T. Everyone has the right to point fingers at Chris, he was the driver that killed someone.. She was making a left turn, and he tryed to pass her over a double line while speeding. THAT IS ILLEGAL...... Besides there were people at the accident reporting that he passed them like they were standing still..... You can defend him all you want but the fact is this: SHE WAS KILLED BY A STUPID, SELFISH, THOUGHTLESS TEENAGER.. He is the one that has to live with killing someone for the rest of his life..... Oh, and i am sure there are more than just a few that would like to get there hands on Chris right now. I am sure he is hiding out and that is the best thing for him.

Posted by: kendra on Jun 13, 2008 at 10:47 PM
bill, you don't know the facts yourself, nobody really knows all I know is that his truck can't even do 100 or 110! Do not piont fingers until the whole story comes out. I done the very same thing when my grandfather was killed by a drunk driver not 2 months ago, I know how it feels first hand but know one has the right to judge know one if you dont know them. And by the way i really hope you do get the chance to meet him that should be a sight to see. Deepest sympathys for the family and friends.

For those of you who are posting to be sympathic to the kid who killed Hilda, you are being disrespectful to Hilda's memory, her friends, and family. Defend what you feel you need to, but this is not the place to do that. If you look above, the story doesn't even mention the IDIOT's name that hit her. This story was about Hilda. A VICTIM who had her life ripped away from her. She didn't have a choice in the matter. Christopher Hudson had all the choices as his truck came speeding and crashing into the side of Hilda's car, and he gets to live to try to defend himself and his negligent actions. Hilda was a wonderful person to everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her. Everyone who knew her had their hearts and lives touched by her laughter, her smile, her caringness, her honesty, and her thoughtfulness. She left a huge impression in the heart of the lives she touched and will always be remembered in our hearts. My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family.

An innocent person was killed by another person's ignorance. Speeding, apparently NOT having car under control. No remorse, no excuses...slam the book at him. He killed one of the most wonderful, life loving people in the world. May you be in a better place Hilda! Your smiling face will be so missed. Love be wit you

Posted by: Mad on Jun 11, 2008 at 09:39 AM
The facts are: Hilda is gone. She will never met her grandchldren, a daughter without a mother. If this "chris" would have been going the SPEED LIMIT, this would have not happened....Regardless of the fact he TRIED to stop..there was no way he could have kept from hitting her going as fast as he was.. And do not forget people, there were witnesses on the wreck, people saw how fast he was going. He is just scared of the charges that WILL be filed against him, and he deserves to spend the rest of his life in prision for what he has done to this family. So, Chris, you deserve what is coming to you!

My thoughts an prayers go out to Hilda"s family, Mr & mrs Wines, Crittet,Sandy, an all the rest of Hilda family i don't no.Such a wonderful person to be taken at such a young age. I am so glad to have known Hilda.May God bless this family in the weeks , months an years to come ,you just don't no what this guy took from Hilda's family unless you have walked in this family shoes. every one who prays remember Hilda family.Hilda will truely be missed by so many people. Kendra: FACT:Per the Police report he was going 110mph, Don't defend what you don't know I will stop short of saying anything else except Christopher Hudson, Pray we never meet.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 10, 2008 at 10:43 PM
Sorry, but he was indeed speeding...not pointing fingers, just stating facts. He was traveling in excess of 100 mph when he struck the victim. His actions were neglegent, and because of that, an innocent person lost her life. I'm sorry, but charges should be filed. What message are we sending to our youth if the courts stand by and do nothing when an innocent person dies because of the irresponsible actions of another?

you have no right to post that bob, no one knows the facts. he was not bumming money, he did not ask nobody. How would you feel if you lost someone that close to you? He is a good person I don't care what anyone says and he was not speeding and he was not under the influence of anything. He does have a license, and the vehicle was legal! My Grandfater did not have a problem with him, it was just issues that we were going through at the time with my mother's ex husband, and that is none of no one's concern, so keep your comments to yourselves until you know the facts! Plus he has not posted anything on this site or any other. and Miranda charges will be pressed on you for telling info. about him. My deepest sympaths for family and friends

Posted by: Was There on Jun 10, 2008 at 06:01 PM
He told three different stories in 15 min. Three motorcyclist said he past them around 100 mph on Whittington Hill. I seen first hand what Hilda went thru. Also the temp tags on the truck were dead as of 5/21/08 and the only thing in the truck was an unpaid speeding ticket. No insurance card.

Posted by: Disgusted on Jun 10, 2008 at 03:07 PM
"I tried to stop". Yeah, right. If you were going 110 when you hit her, then how fast were you going before you applied those imaginary brakes??!!??

Hilda was a wonderful lady and mother to a great daughter. My daughter, Marissa and Sara have been friends since grade school and Sara was like a second daughter. May God hold Sara and her entire family in the palm of His hand. We will keep the entire family in our prayers. Hilda's memory will live on in the beautiful daughter she leaves behind. Much love.

Hilda will be greatly missed by many. A great person and hard worker. One of the true good people in this world. Through Hilda's own struggles, I think she understood the value of life and how fragile it can be. I'll never forget the happiness she brought me on bad days and how she insisted we all bring new pictrues of our children to work. I miss you Hilda!

I went to high school with Hilda's daughter Sarah and I was sick to hear about her passing. Deepest sympathies to her family especially Cricket whom has always been so nice to me.

Posted by: T on Jun 10, 2008 at 10:33 AM
Regardless of how or why this happend, you have one daughter who is left without a mother and a women who will never get to see her grandchildren. You have family and tons of friends who loved her dearly and who will never get over this. This didn't have to happen. While I realize the driver may be sorry, sorry just doesn't get it in this case. Please keep this family in your prayers for months to come, because they are going to need it. My heart goes out to all of them.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 10, 2008 at 10:10 AM
P.S...and let it not be said that I am not sympathetic towards the family & friends who have lost this woman. Again, I know how horrific this accident was & how badly she was injured & all have been in my prayers since I heard about it. But please do not judge someone until all of the facts are brought to light completely. Mechanical failures do occur. People do have to react when something unexpected happens & things like this happen. The truth will all come out.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 10, 2008 at 10:04 AM
Let's try to use our brains & not our emotions. If this man didn't have a license or insurance, he would have been arrested on the scene. They call in licenses & do checks. If he had none, he would've been hauled off. If he had been high or drunk (which they check for on the scene) he DEFINITELY would have been arrested at the scene and in jail. None of that happened, folks. Obviously, speed was a factor, but he was not cited. You do not know the reasons. Do not judge others unless you know the whole story. This was a terrible tragedy, but people spreading rumors that aren't true are just as bad as a drunk driver? Why? Because you might just get someone killed or hurt in an act of revenge based on false info. I don't know either person, but I do know the facts & the obvious. Let those of us who have never EVER broke the speed limit cast the first stone. WSAZ should screen these comments better, they are going to end up getting someone hurt needlessly.

I live within site of the accident scene - this kind of passing - speeding - irresponsible driving goes on all the time - unfortunately this lady lost her life due to this type of driving - this area needs monitored all the time - just yesterday I had to pull off abruptly to keep the driver behind me from hitting me as he was "in a hurry" I was doing 55 which is the speed limit, he passed me like I was sitting still - maybe if the police would monitor this area for more than a day people would slow down and drive the speed limit

Posted by: Laura Deming on Jun 10, 2008 at 09:53 AM
I have been friends with Hilda for many years and it saddens me to know she won her battle of cancer only to have her life ripped away by an idiot who obviously should have never earned a driver's license to begin with. Was it so important that the other driver get to his destination a few minutes earlier that it was worth killing someone in the process? Why hasn't he been charged with vehicular manslaughter, failure to maintain a vehicle, speeding, and passing in a no passing zone, at the very least? If the Kanawha County Sheriff's department does not press all applicable charges against this man, it would be a great injustice of their public duty. How would you feel if it had been your mother, daughter, or friend? How could you live with yourself knowing your carelessness caused the death of such a wonderful person? Would it be worth it? If the person posted below really was the driver of the other vehicle, and is reading these postings, what do you have to say for yourself?

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 10, 2008 at 09:29 AM
Eye witnesses at the scene tell a much different story....speeding was a factor....passing on a double line was a factor....and from reports on the scene NO INSURANCE....an innocent life was lost because of very poor judgement. I understand that you feel bad, but people's lives are changed forever by this tragic and easily avoided accident. I hope you reflect on this and that God guides you down a better path. My prayers are with the family of Hilda Wines.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 10, 2008 at 08:51 AM
Forgiveness is the first step in healing. This is not a time for anger or judgement. It does no good at this point. The driver was clearly negligent. He, I am sure, is suffering right now too. He will have to live with this for the rest of this life. We all will. Hilda was a wonderful person. She was not just a co-worker; she was our friend. She was the bright spot in our day and will be greatly missed. My prayers are with her and her family.

Posted by: bob on Jun 10, 2008 at 08:40 AM
you post a note and sign it as "the other driver". unreal... we know who you are. your sorry? i have no doubt, but your not sorry over the woman , your sorry cause your looking at jail. look at the womans car then the 4 other cars you hit.. were you going fast enough? your a low life period. not 2 months ago you were at your girl friends grandfathers funeral (who died the same way this poor woman did) because of her age you werent allowed near her while he was alive. but this was your chance . you went and were hanging all over each other like it was a date. then you walked around to the people there and bummed money!!!! your a con man who has NO respect for anyone. now you took someones life who wasnt doing anything, and you want sympathy? your right kiddo, your sorrier then most people know!!!!

Posted by: Friend of Hildas on Jun 10, 2008 at 01:19 AM
The driver, whether he/she was drunk or on drugs, needs to be under the jail. Because of his/her acctions, alot of people are left without one of the best women, if not THE BEST, on this earth. The acctions of someone driving as eradically and as careluss, should reflect the sentence the driver should get dor the remainder of his/her life.

This is typical for the way things go...this guy didn't have insurance, was probably drunk (or high on meth) and walked away...of course he hasn't been arrested yet. Why would he be? It's only obvious he was the cause of the accident. My prayers are with Hilda's family.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 9, 2008 at 09:59 PM
Why are people so careless when it comes to driving???? All because this jerk could not wait to get up the road, a precious life is lost. I hope the courts throw the book at him. He should not have been speeding, he should not have attempted to pass on a double line. No License...No Insurance...obviously not an upstanding citizen. Now, someone has lost a mother, a daughter, and a friend. If the courts do not bring her death to justice, then the Lord surely will. God Bless the family of Hilda Wines. You are in our prayers.

This seems to be a poorly written article (whats up WSAZ?). Speed was a factor? If so it seems it would have to have been the fault of the truck driver. Who is he? Why hasn't anyone been charged? Was he on a mobile (cellular) telephone and not paying attention? Did he fall asleep at the wheel? Drunks aren't the only ones that kill on the road. Sleepy drivers, those on phones or fooling around with the many gadgets in vehicles kill too. I think in addition to a field sobriety check, a mobile telephone check needs to be made on all motor vehicle crashes to see if the driver was using a mobile phone while driving. The phone company would have a record with phone useage times. It would be easy for law enforcement to check. One final comment. This is no accident. Accidents can't be prevented. This could have. Tornados and hurricanes are accidents. Not bad drivers on the highways. Lets start treating them as crashes and not accidents.

The man driving the truck needs to be arrested. He should not be out on the roads. This accident was un called for. No one should be driving as fast as he was.
