CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- AARP West Virginia is now as old as its youngest members.

The group celebrated its 50th birthday Tuesday with the theme
"Generations Connecting For Change."

During the celebration, volunteers handed out free cake and ice cream to customers at the BB&T on Summers Street.

Besides helping people who are 50 and older, the group says it
works to nurture the next generations.

AARP West Virginia was incorporated on July 1, 1958.
