gene my brother was having chest pains and we called an ambulance, they told him he needed to go and be checked out just to mane sure because he started to feel a little better when they arrived,he said he didnt have insurance and they would kill him at the va,the paramedic told him we have to take you to the nearest hospital when it concerns the heart,so he was taken to kdmc, was having a heart attack by the time they got there, was taken straidht 4 angeoplasty, stint was put in,he had a 100 percent blockage.the bill was sent to the va and they had to pay it,so no thats not true, call an ambulance, and go to the hospital, tell them you only have va they WILL help you.god bless

funny my brother was inpatient there in 2003 and they were constantly pumping blood from his stomach,i awoke at 445 am to find him gurgling, ran to get a nurse ,but she couldnt leave the station as there had been a code blue around the corner, and she would come as soon as possible,i ran back to the room ,she came in just a little after me,she then seen that the container that the blood was going into was full,so basically from where they didnt keep a check on this, his stomach filled with blood and he died,he had cancer and wasent going home with us,but still they were neglecent.and no we didnt sue them, they have to live with this the rest of their lives,i dont.so i dont agree that they are so great, not if its a very serious condition you have.

I've been to other VA hospitals and Huntington's hospital is the best by far. Most everyone there is pleasant and helpful.

I agree with dd. Some of the nurses there are rude and they do not care about the patients. I have had family members that have been patients and employees and they have told me HORROR stories about the VA. It is proof that employees that are treated unfairly and dislike their jobs or supervisers that they will in fact not do a good job of taking care of the patients.

they need more responsible help not money. i have a heart problem and cannot get in until 7-30-08 and have been waiting for 2 months for a ultrasound on my heart and still no appointment. have to use va since i have no other insurance.

VA Medical Center best in this region? The VA system is, in fact, horrible! How can it get good marks? Im a veteran and Ive experienced horrible treatment and care. Are they hiring "rejects" from other hospitals? Who is paying whom? That place is just a hospice for poor old vets to die. We deserve better!!!

I love the VA Hospital. My Dad would be dead if it weren't for the great care he has received there over the past 15 years. We've never had a bad experience.
