I personally know the Wyrick Family, and they are a strong Christian family. I could only imagine the hurt they are going through with all of this. Unfortunatly, Stephen and Joshua have chosen the wrong paths in life. I know throughout the years, Stephen's Mother has done all that she could to get these two cleaned up. Long talks and lots of prayers, but still no changes. Everything happens for a reason, and maybe in some weird way this needed to happen to Steve and Josh. Some time in Jail might be what it takes for these two to clean up and follow the path they need to follow. All of my heart and prayers go out to Mrs. Wyrick and all of her family for the wrong choices these two have made in life.

This man dated my mother for over 5 years and put my family through plenty of turmoil.I certainly hope justice will be served and he will have time to think about his behaviors. My thoughts go out to his family, the ones who actually make moral decisions.

josh, my heart goes out to your family. i'm sorry it had to turn out like this. good luck.

Quality family time in West by god Virginia for ya. hahaha

Posted by: isaac on Jul 8, 2008 at 06:54 AM
To Rachel; It is because these two morons were so stupid that one of them went in minutes before the robbery and cased the place in the same clothes he was going to rob them in minutes later !!!! What a true bone head !!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least they had enough class NOT to wear duct tape!!!

Posted by: melissa on Jul 7, 2008 at 10:53 PM
if our government would worry more about helping this country than other countries maybe these people would have gotten the help they so desperately needed.

Posted by: Pablo on Jul 7, 2008 at 10:18 PM
Well, even if these two weren't heading off to prison soon, I don't think we'll be seeing them on "Jeopardy." I mean, talk about dumb crooks. I hope they put father and son in different cells at Mount Olive. As a West Virginian, I'm tired of all the inbreeding jokes.

About a month ago, I heard on the radio that a little girl in a town away from here did get robbed at her lemonade stand. The girl chased him into a nearby house but got locked out. She then called 911 and they arrested him and charged him with a felony for 12 dollars. That's pitiful!

Posted by: Justice For All on Jul 7, 2008 at 06:29 PM
this is why some people should never have kids! ooops!! How sad for this young man to have never learned that its wrong to steal! This man should have an extra charge added to him for teaching his son no moral values! Would it not have been better for him to have had no father at all then one to partner with him in crime. This breaks my heart!

Posted by: dd on Jul 7, 2008 at 05:45 PM
Why rob a donut shop??!!! Like they really have lots of money. Some people are just plain morons. Next, somebody will be holding up little Mary Sue at her lemonade stand. STUPID!

Posted by: Ron on Jul 7, 2008 at 05:24 PM

I guess fishing and ball games don't qualify for father/son bonding activities anymore. "Hey son, we have't done anything together for awhile; lets go rob the donut store!" Like father, like son.

Well well, The Sheriff Dept Arrrested these robbers. Good Work. The HPD Donut Gang stands in AHH of you. If The Jollie Pirate was in the city limits of Huntington these guy would have had to make More Donuts before HPD called the Sheriff Dept to make an arrest. This is Great LMAO. A Donut Shop. Maybe the Donut Gang can contract the Sheriff Dept to Investigate the Murders of Four People within the city. Also the HPD Donut Gang are still the Laughing stock of the law Enforcement Community.

Posted by: Apology to officials 4 other post on Jul 7, 2008 at 08:51 AM
Just want to clarify earlier post I made about local officials supporting the drug trade in H'ton etc. 1st of all I dont KNOW that & shouldn't have mouthed off about something I dont know for a fact so I apologize to them ALTHOUGH none of them are doing their job. I think THAT is what underlies not only my venting/ranting but everyone elses here & elsewhere. All of us are just SO sick/tired of all this increasing crime in H'ton that we're frustrated, angry, afraid & fed up. We don't know why officials, police, etc are putting up with it especially here in a City as small as Huntington without doing more to run it out of here. They know where the trouble areas are for the most part so why not run them out BEFORE they get worse? The magistrates/judges & our "laws" are the worst though. IF they bother to sentence these criminals at all they're either put on home confinement which is a joke OR they let them go entirely Like everyone else I'm just angry, frustrated, scared

Posted by: To Tired, JMHO on Jul 7, 2008 at 08:45 AM
To Tried: I don't think people were specifically trashing HPD or officials for just the donut thing. All of us are just so frustrated with ALL the increasing crime in H'ton & this area so I think we're all just venting about specific incidents when it's the overall lack of police response AND mostly lack of response by public officials to curb all this crime AND also the stupid laws/judges in this state/country who keep letting thugs & criminals out of jail IF they even put them in there to begin with. Yes we realize the murder trumped the donut shop robbery so the HPD SHOULD have been on 4th Ave BUT theres such a HUGE increase in crime everyday all over town & people are venting their frustration, anger and fear on just the cops alone. THEY can't do what they're not allowed to do though so until our "leaders" ha, judges/magistrates AND the laws do better, the cops can't really do anything else We're all just tired of the thugs, drugs & crime. We're frustrated, mad, afraid

Posted by: mom on Jul 7, 2008 at 08:26 AM
This looks like some quality father and son bonding time.Maybe they can bond in jail together.I seen the father on the wrj website already this morning, so it looks like the cops are doing there job dispite what some of you think

Posted by: Anon on Jul 7, 2008 at 06:21 AM
OK, for those of you who think that all these crimes in Huntington AND the surrounding area(s) (because the thugs/druggies FROM downtown are now spreading out - thanks a LOT by the way) are "fine" apparently, check out per capita crimes here compared to larger cities and areas. The amount of crimes here is way out of proportion to the size of the place so that is OK? AND at least other cities and areas TRY to curb crime! Not just sit there & let it get more frequent and worse like H'ton and this area does! No, it's not all the police depts fault, they can only do what they are ALLOWED to do & IMHO anyway too many rich old politicians & "important" people in H'ton & the area are getting rich off the drugs so they don't WANT them stopped & they don't care about the crime b/c they can afford high tech security systems at THEIR homes, security people etc. The rest of us peons are just screwed. As for robberies they ARE going to increase b/c people need $$$ to just survive

Posted by: cc on Jul 7, 2008 at 05:00 AM
its time people arm themselves , robery and violent crimes are on the rise ,I was in livermore california several years ago and I went to a convience store to buy some things . when I opened the cooler door to get some drinks I was face to face with a guy in a parka holding a riot shotgun . the guy at the cash register said it was common practice to have armed gaurds at stores in that area.he said robbers will kill witnesses in a robbery . meet force with force I bet thats the reason the county is putting out so many concealed weapons permits .

Stupid is as stupid does.....

Posted by: cosmo on Jul 7, 2008 at 03:02 AM
sure looks like they worked really hard at getting so little, didn't even get a donut. I bet they was not more than 20 dollars in the register. what a way to get jail time for so little to show.

Posted by: Tried on Jul 7, 2008 at 01:12 AM
Ok this is getting old, people want to make fun or down grade Huntington or the cops here. Well I do not see anyone running their mouth running for office or trying to become a cop. So if you think you can do a better job then do something about it and if not shut up. If I do recall as I was passing Fulids Saturday night every cop in Huntington was there. So the donut shop to 2nd place to a death. I also work uo on Rt 60 and Barboursville or the state boys who sit right across from the donut shop look into this,

Posted by: Joe on Jul 6, 2008 at 10:06 PM
Maybe Mike shamed the HPD away from Jolly Pirate so he could get all them donuts for himself.

Posted by: Bev on Jul 6, 2008 at 09:49 PM
There are at least 6 police cars on rt.60 at any given time. These are not Huntington PD but Cabell County Sheriffs and Barboursville PD. That doesn't even include the State Police who have a detachment about 3 blocks away. It doesn't seem to matter to these people if the cops around or not. Obviously they are desperate or just don't care about anything. Crime will happen any time any place.

Posted by: booger on Jul 6, 2008 at 09:39 PM
This will be the only crime solved all year...

Motor-mouth Mike is always saying that the HPD donut gang is not doing their work. Where was the HPD donut gang when this happened? At the other donut house?

  • Posted By: drsenileI realize I live in the ultra-exclusive suburb of Milton, but I am curious as to the reason gas prices (for one) are consistently higher than our less fortunate neighbors (like Huntington). As of tonight, there is still a 16 cents per gallon differential between Milton and Huntington (and we are NOT lower). I guess we are helping to pay for improvements to the mayors pet projects.

  • Posted By: git is the stupidest thing I have ever heard, to be offended by the word "Holiday", this all comes from you bible thumpers that all want to tell other people how to think and what to say. You offend me! This is the Holidays! Even 50 years ago before all this ridiculous crap started, cards said Happy Holidays, because it covered Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's, it is the Holiday Season! So Season's Greetings and Happy Holidays Y'all!
  • Posted By: to Lady A:The "holiday" season also encompasses Hanukkah, a major holiday for those of us who follow the Jewish faith. We also give gifts and do "holiday" shopping this season; thankfully WSAZ is less ignorant than you are and recognizes that their viewership reflects more than one faith.
  • Posted By: to Lady AFYI, Hanukah is also coming up and we of the jewish faith also exchange gifts during this HOLIDAY season. I, for one, am thankful that WSAZ considers all of their viewers. Your comment was incredibly ignorant.
  • Posted By: What the heckI agree with Pat, I'm not liking the new page AT ALL.
  • Posted By: Christian not offendedOk there Lady A, just slow down a minute. Huntingtonian made a good point. Have you ever heard of Hanukah? Some people shop for Hanukah. Jesus was Jewish, so don't tell me that being a Jew is a sin, & Christmas is THE ONLY HOLIDAY this time of year. Yes, I too love to hear MERRY CHRISTMAS, but I refuse to become upset when someone says happy holidays. How do you know if when you say MERRY CHRISTMAS to someone, your not saying it to a Jewish person? Do you ever hear them make a big fat stink about it? NO!!!, you don't. So I think you should just be happy that God has given you another day on this Earth. So that you have the time to celebrate, with your family, whatever holiday you choose. I've decided to say HAPPY MERRY KWANZ~MA~KA that way I've covered them all.
  • Posted By: PatMuch like New Coke and the new Marco I think you've made a mistake with the new web pagedesign. I don't use Yahoo because the site is too cluttered and I feel the same about your new page. More is not necessarily better!
  • Posted By: AriIt is CHRISTMAS it is the time we celebrate Christ being born, not Kwanzza or Hanukah. Kwanzza is racist anyways it's a celebration of being black. I have no problem with people saying Happy whatever it is but I am NOT going to watch what i say and not say Marry Christmas becasue it might offend people
  • Posted By: LadyA`The question was, Did you do any Holiday shopping over the weekend? The shopping they were referring was Christmas shopping. What other holiday shopping would we be doing? Thanksgiving was over. It offended me like many others. It is the Christmas season and I want to see the word Christmas used, not holiday or xmas.
  • Posted By: HuntingtonianI agree with Anonymous!! It is the "holiday season" and by definition, it encompasses all of the holidays that are coming, not just Christmas. I also am a christian and see something inherintly wrong with pigeon holing this time of year to simply "Merry Christmas." What I find really offensive is those of you who believe that it is ok to say "Christmas" but would be outraged if "Happy Kwanza" or "Happy Hanukah" appeared anywhere. So, that being said: HAPPY HOLIDAYS and a JOYOUS NEW YEAR to all!!
  • Posted By: Holiday is in referance to ALL holidays this time of year. I have been saying Happy Holidays since I was a kid, growing up during the 80's.
