BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Recycling always has been a priority for Jack Frost.

He and his wife Susie take advantage of a free recycling program that started last month in Barboursville. Two containers that accept paper and plastic have been placed on Depot Street. Most plastic containers are permitted except PPC containers and Type 2 plastics. Almost all plastic containers from grocery stores are accepted.

While the community welcomes the free recycling service, resident Bill Meadows said he would like to see it expanded to include neighborhood pickup.

For more information on similar recycling programs in your community, you can contact your county officials about possible drop-off locations.

Most people in WV drink enough pop and beer to pay for a tank of gas. Come on people, quit giving and throwing those cans away.....take them in to be recycled and get paid for them.

I don't understand why AWI charges you to recycle...don't you think more people would recycle it is was FREE. I already pay them 18 dollars a month... Some things just don't make sense.

Everyone in our neighborhood recieves the recyling trashcans from Cummings Collections, but what gets me is when i see them put the regular trash and recyclable items in the same trash truck and smoosh it all to the back. What is the point of recycling if they are going to put it all together? What a waste of time and money...

FYI, a PPC is a plastic pesticide container. Are you absolutely sure Type 2 isn't part of the program? Types 1 and 2 are the most common recyclable plastic. Type 5 in some areas (not where I live though) and the rest don't bother with.

PLEASE expand this to more communities. We as Americans, as the world can not continue to make mounds and mounds of trash daily. We have got to recycle. Not for profit making or any monetary potential, but as a world pollution problem. Most everything can be recycled, but still, we bury it in the ground. Out of sight, out of mind!! Stand up people, we need to act.

I wish there were recycling programs everywhere. I have looked at recycling places around here, but for most you have to live in that county or city to take stuff.
