JACKSON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The last of the three original conspirators in the murder of Carol Evans was sentenced Tuesday.
A judge sentenced Randy Faught to five years in prison with credit for time served. Faught pleaded guilty to extortion. Prosecutors say Carol Evans' husband, David Evans, Sr. tried to hire Faught to kill his wife. Faught then tried to blackmail Evans.
Terry Vance and Heather Speakman both pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges and have already been sentenced. All three have agreed to testify against David Evans, Sr. He is accused of hiring Terry Vance to kill his wife and make it look like a botched burglary. Carol Evans was found strangled in the couple's home on Camba Road near Jackson.
The trial for David Evans, Sr. is set to begin November 12th. If convicted, prosecutors say they plan to seek the death penalty.
