Then why report something like this? All this does is waste time of the reporter and the world. I will agree some people need these "scooters" but not all that I see ride them.

I agree with Clyde wheelchairs of this type need the big orange flags or something else to make them more visible to drivers. My son very nearly hit a man in Barboursville who uses a motorized wheelchair to travel to Kroger from the Veteran's home. My son wasn't speeding, and he was paying attention. The wheelchair was just very hard to see in the low light situation. Surely there is a way to make it safer for both wheelchair users and for the drivers. No one wants to hit and hurt anyone. There are more people using these chairs so there will be more incidents unless safety regulations are enacted.

The story doesn't say whether or not she had sent the text on her phone, or if the accident interrupted it. Come on women, let's put away our phones and drive!
