PIKETON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The U.S. Department of Energy estimates it will cost five to 12 billion dollars, and take 36 years to clean-up the old Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Pike County.
The exact amount will be determined at least in part by a new Site Specific Advisory Board.
Members of the board were formally introduced Thursday night by DOE Portsmouth Manager Bill Murphie who promised to work with the community on the clean-up.
The 19-member advisory board will provide advice and recommendations on clean-up standards and waste management, among other things.
The board has nine members for Pike County, five from Scioto County, two from Ross County and one each from Athens County, Jackson County and Greenup County, Kentucky.
