ASHLAND, KY (WSAZ) -- A husband and wife from Ashland have been killed in a motorcycle crash in Grayson, Kentucky.

Kentucky State Police say 55-year-old Mark Stone and his wife, Teresa, 56, died in the accident. It happened in the 6800 block of State Highway 773 in Grayson Sunday night.

Troopers say Mr. Stone was traveling east when he lost control of his motorcycle in a S-curve. Investigators say the motorcycle ended up in the westbound lane where it was hit by a car.

Mr. Stone was pronounced dead at the scene. Mrs. Stone died later at Huntington hospital. Troopers say both of them were wearing helmets.

The driver of the car was not hurt.

The crash happened about 6:00pm Sunday night.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Stone family. I only had a chance to meet with them a few times through a business relationship, however it only took a few times to realize they were truly great people. God bless their family and friends.

My sympathy goes out to the Stone family. This was called an accident for a reason, there is no one to blame. The lady in the car is a wonderful woman and she is upset enough about what has happen. No one needs to be talking about her. It could have easily been you or I that came around the curve. She did nothing wrong, just on her way to church. Both familys need our prayers not our gossip. Get your facts right before you open your mouth.

the old lady that was driving the car maybe she should'nt be driving at her age . But regardless, 2 wonderful people lost their lives that's what really should matter. My heart goes out too the family.

I just passed the Bridges church where the viewing is being held and there was not one spot available for parking. People were standing in line to get in. Again, this goes to show you how awesome this couple was! I started crying as I drove by. I just feel so sorry for the family because I can say from PAST EXPERIENCE that I know what they are going through. They will never, ever be the same. Many prayers to all of you this evening and tomorrow especially when they are laid to rest and many prayers for the sad days ahead that face you. May God reach down and wrap his arms around each and every one of you. I pray for comfort & peace. God Bless you all!

My thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and families that have been affected by this tragedy. My husband was in a motorcycle wreck just last month and was very lucky to have made it. Its like Ashley said "accidents happen everyday". God has a reason for everything and I know that is sometimes hard to understand when you are hurting so badly but he is with you every step of the way.

To the family; There are no words to say, except this is a horrible tragedy for all of you and I will be praying that GOD will give you comfort and peace in the days to come. May you find solace in knowing how many people and lives that they touched and the legacy they leave behind in you. The comments speak volumns about them. God Bless You

To the Stone family: Mrs. Stone was a wonderful teacher and not only that, but a truly gifted woman. She has helped so many students believe in themselves and establish many foundations for great things that would take place throughout their careers and personal lives. She helped me with my very first resume, the first interview, and then landing my first paid employment. I will forever appreciate the influence that she has left in my life, as well as others. You are truly blessed people to have them as parents. May God comfort you in your time of need and give you gracious strength in the days ahead. Many prayers are with you all.

This is to all of the family members & employees of Air Equipment-my thoughts are with you at this time-I personally ride a motorcycle and love every minute of it I am sure both Teresa & Mark enjoyed their time together during their rides-it is just a tragic accident that could happen to anyone of us whether in a car or on a motorcycle no one is to blame it was just their time to go and they went together doing what they loved to do -take care

Posted by: Katy on Aug 20, 2008 at 09:52 AM
Prayers need to go up for both families! I am sure the Stone's would want us to pray for the lady involved. That is just the kind of people they were. Look to the Lord for strength and guidance now and in the coming days ahead. I am so Sorry. Words cannot begin to express how I feel.

My husband done business with then @ their store... He works for a Local Sign company in Ashland. My thoughts and Prayers go out to their family. Im sorry for your loss.....

Posted by: Frank on Aug 20, 2008 at 07:57 AM
Bill. You said "not to place blame" and then you did. I also am a proponent of testing past a certain age, of which I am quickly approaching, but it said that Mr. Stone lost control of the motorcycle. What about that don't you get. They would be alive if he had not lost control of the motorcycle. Who knows why he lost control. I have a friend who lost contol of his motorcycle when a deer ran out in front of him. Was it his fault!? NO! Why can't there be such things as accidents. Blame must be placed for everything that happens! REDICULOUS!

Mark and I were close all through high school at McKell. We had some really good times together. After high school, we went separate ways and lost track of each other. When I heard about the accident, those good memories came back as fresh as the days they happened. My condolences to the families.

I had Mrs. Stone for 3 of the 4 years I was in High School. She was truly a great teacher, and person. She often came into my place of employment and still 11 years after I have graduated, she called my by my nickname that I had in school. They will truly be missed and my thoughts and prayers go out to their children and family.

I was the 1st one to come along and it wasnt that old womans fault. IT didnt matter who was coming along this still would have happened. And trust me that old woman about died because of what happened she felt so bad about and even said she wished it was her and said she would have never done that to anyone she didnt mean to do it. bad things happen to people everyday things like this we cant stop. its in gods hands not ours,, So done go blaming that old woman because she feels bad enough about it.

I live less than 1 mile from the accident. I know the lady who was driving the car. This was truly an accident. She is not at fault. She even tried to get off the road to avoid them, but they were already on the ground. The real fault is the nasty road. That curve goes over the old rail road bed and is a horrible circumstance - waiting to happen again. My heartfelt sympathy to the family of the Stones. I heard they were both wonderful people. But, in this instance, please stop and think, what would you have done? What would happen if it had been you with your children in the car? We need to pray for both sides. If ever there was an accident, this was it.

i knew teresa for a long time. i grew up with her and her brother. they were her chip her dad and mom. they were a fine family, my heart goes out to all of them in this great loss. i also know mrs. tussey real well. she is a fine christain lady and sharp as a tack, to blame this lady for this terrible accident only makes the situation worse. knowing teresa`s family they would never place blame where it is not called for. we need to pray and support these families at this very sorrowful time.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 19, 2008 at 06:43 PM
for all those who commented back...nobody said blames the lady...the elderly are less quickly to respond to someone in the road...i know the elderly lady and she is a good christian woman.. nevertheless, it was tragic and prayers go out to all involved....

To Chris>> Accidents happen every day. When it's your time to go, it's your time to go. You can't stop it and there is no reason to live your life in fear. From what I've heard, the Stone's were a wonderful couple and the world is at a loss without them. My heart and prayers goes out to the loved ones they've left behind.

I AM SO SORRY FOR THE LOSS OF MR. & MRS. STONE, BUT TO BLAME THE LADY DRIVING THE VEHICLE IS NOT RIGHT. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT MR. STONE LOST CONTROL OF HIS VEHICLE AND WENT INTO HER LANE. I ALSO RIDE A MOTORCYCLE AND I KNOW HOW QUICK A CURVE CAN COME UP ON YOU. BUT IT IS NOT RIGHT TO BLAME THIS LADY FOR BEING ON THE ROAD IN THIS SITUATION AS MR. STONE WENT INTO HER WESTBOUND LANE FROM WHAT I READ. I WAS AT THE IRONTON RALLY THIS WEEK AND I HAVE TO WONDER IF THEY WERE PERHAPS THERE FOR THE ENJOYMENT. I AM SO SORRY ANYTIME TO HEAR OF SOMEONE LOSING THEIR LIFE TO THIS AS I TOTALLY ENJOY RIDING MYSELF AND MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE STONE FAMILY. MAY GOD BE WITH YOU AND THE LADY INVOLVED IN THIS ACCIDENT.

It seems like its not worth owning a Motorcycle cause every week we hear about someone getting killed, Its just not worth owning one. Another sad story!

Posted by: BILL on Aug 19, 2008 at 03:06 AM
MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE FAMILIES INVOLVED...ESPECIALLY THE STONES. THIS IS HORRIBILE. NOT TO PASS BLAME AT ALL. THIS GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT I AM A FIRM BELIEVER THAT AFTER A CERTAIN AGE YOU SHOULD AND MUST PASS A DRIVERS EXAM TO CONTINUE DRIVING AT AN ELDERLY AGE. I SEE ELDERLY PEOPLE ALL THE TIME WHO HAVE NO BUSINESS DRIVING A MOTOR VEHICLE. THAT IS A HUGE WEAPON THEY ARE DRIVING THAT CAN CHANGE A LIFE SO QUICK DUE TO THE ELDERLY NOT HAVING THE ALERTNESS, IMAGINE THE MEDICATIONS ELDERLY PEOPLE TAKE TODAY THAT AFFECTS THERE DRIVING AND ABILITY TO PAY ATTENTION. THE KENTUCKY JUSTICE CABINET NEEDS TO CHANGE THIS. THE STONES MAY STILL BE HERE IF WE HAD SUCH A LAW TO ENFORCE ELDERLY DISABLED DRIVERS.

I was at the accident and tried to help. I was ahead of the vehicle involved and had just past the Stones. I tried to help as much as I could and to reassure Mrs Stone. Her voice will remain with me the the rest of my days, and she will be apart of my life. I hear they were great people and a blessing to the community. My heart and prayers go out to the family. I will never forget them.

Teresa was a wonderful teacher, a good friend, and a valued colleague. She touched many lives throughout her teaching career and did so many extras for her school and her community, expecting nothing in return. Her family meant everything to her, and I hope her children take some comfort in knowing how much their parents loved them. My heart goes out to the family, and I will miss my friend.

I had Mrs. Stone for accounting the first year she taught at Raceland. I can't begin to say what an impact she had on her students. She was a great teacher and she had such a way of making her classes fun and enjoyable. She was young and right out of college when she came to Raceland but she fit right in, it was like it was meant for her to be here with us. My prayers go out to her children, losing both parents at once and at such a young age is hard to imagine. My heart goes out to Mark and Teresa's families, we have lost two wonderful people.

  • Posted By: L.A little feedback on the site redesign; I like the layout, but it's very crowded and cluttered. I browse the site frequently on my iPhone and I have great difficulty doing that with the new layout - I can't scroll using the touchscreen because all of the columns are crowded together and when I try to scroll I end up clicking on something.
  • Posted By: I DO NOT LIKE THE NEW PAGE. THE OLD PAGE WAS SO MUCH BETTER!!!
  • Posted By: MelindaTHE ONLY THING THAT NEEDS FIXED ON YOUR NEW WEB SITE IS THE VIEWING OF THE VIDEOS LIKE YOU HAVE GOING ON AROUND THE WORLD I HAVE A POP UP BLOCKER THAT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO VIEW IT AND BEFORE IT NEVER STOPPED ME.
  • Posted By: MelindaI LIKE THE NEW WEB PAGE KEEP THIS ONE! ITS EASIER TO READ AND GET TO THINGS.
  • Posted By: Volley MomThe only thing in life consistent is change. We all need change to keep life interesting. Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% how you deal with it. Learn to deal with things in life a little better. I happen to like the new site.
  • Posted By: Bling BlingLike the new site, but like asked before why are you running the competitions headlines? Also another recommendation - somewhat croweded but hey it is the news so I will live with it
  • Posted By: BuckeyeI like the new site. Just get sick of seeing the shaking "classmate.com" advertisement. But, they pay a bill I'm sure.
  • Posted By: annI HATE THE NEW SIT IT WONT FIT ON MY SCREEN RIGHT ITS MESSED UP CHANGE IT BACK PLEASE HURRRY
  • Posted By: annlove the new site
  • Posted By: JenniferI don't like the new page either, I know change is something you have to get used to but....just my opinion.
  • Posted By: IdiotsUAreThe United States of America was founded under God! The creator of this earth, the father of our Savior Jesus Christ. He is why we even have Christmas. So say Christmas an not holidays! If you want to say holidays then go to another county or even California it might as be its own.
  • Posted By: yuckI don't like change, please go back to the other website.
  • Posted By: BobWSAZ, Why are you linking to WOWK headlines on your website? Even linking to the Daily Mail, Gazette, and H-D isn't smart - because in the online world, they're even more of a competitor to you.
  • Posted By: BobSomeone could be shopping for Hanukkah gifts. Read a book other than just the Bible.
  • Posted By: BibleThumpersIt's actually a pagan festival for the Winter Solstice. The Christians adopted it as Christ's birthday later on and even adopted many of the pagan items, such as putting up a tree and having a great feast.
  • Posted By: git is the stupidest thing I have ever heard, to be offended by the word "Holiday", this all comes from you bible thumpers that all want to tell other people how to think and what to say. You offend me! This is the Holidays! Even 50 years ago before all this ridiculous crap started, cards said Happy Holidays, because it covered Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's, it is the Holiday Season! So Season's Greetings and Happy Holidays Y'all!
  • Posted By: to Lady A:The "holiday" season also encompasses Hanukkah, a major holiday for those of us who follow the Jewish faith. We also give gifts and do "holiday" shopping this season; thankfully WSAZ is less ignorant than you are and recognizes that their viewership reflects more than one faith.
  • Posted By: to Lady AFYI, Hanukah is also coming up and we of the jewish faith also exchange gifts during this HOLIDAY season. I, for one, am thankful that WSAZ considers all of their viewers. Your comment was incredibly ignorant.
  • Posted By: What the heckI agree with Pat, I'm not liking the new page AT ALL.
  • Posted By: Christian not offendedOk there Lady A, just slow down a minute. Huntingtonian made a good point. Have you ever heard of Hanukah? Some people shop for Hanukah. Jesus was Jewish, so don't tell me that being a Jew is a sin, & Christmas is THE ONLY HOLIDAY this time of year. Yes, I too love to hear MERRY CHRISTMAS, but I refuse to become upset when someone says happy holidays. How do you know if when you say MERRY CHRISTMAS to someone, your not saying it to a Jewish person? Do you ever hear them make a big fat stink about it? NO!!!, you don't. So I think you should just be happy that God has given you another day on this Earth. So that you have the time to celebrate, with your family, whatever holiday you choose. I've decided to say HAPPY MERRY KWANZ~MA~KA that way I've covered them all.
  • Posted By: PatMuch like New Coke and the new Marco I think you've made a mistake with the new web pagedesign. I don't use Yahoo because the site is too cluttered and I feel the same about your new page. More is not necessarily better!
  • Posted By: AriIt is CHRISTMAS it is the time we celebrate Christ being born, not Kwanzza or Hanukah. Kwanzza is racist anyways it's a celebration of being black. I have no problem with people saying Happy whatever it is but I am NOT going to watch what i say and not say Marry Christmas becasue it might offend people
  • Posted By: LadyA`The question was, Did you do any Holiday shopping over the weekend? The shopping they were referring was Christmas shopping. What other holiday shopping would we be doing? Thanksgiving was over. It offended me like many others. It is the Christmas season and I want to see the word Christmas used, not holiday or xmas.
  • Posted By: HuntingtonianI agree with Anonymous!! It is the "holiday season" and by definition, it encompasses all of the holidays that are coming, not just Christmas. I also am a christian and see something inherintly wrong with pigeon holing this time of year to simply "Merry Christmas." What I find really offensive is those of you who believe that it is ok to say "Christmas" but would be outraged if "Happy Kwanza" or "Happy Hanukah" appeared anywhere. So, that being said: HAPPY HOLIDAYS and a JOYOUS NEW YEAR to all!!
  • Posted By: Holiday is in referance to ALL holidays this time of year. I have been saying Happy Holidays since I was a kid, growing up during the 80's. Christmas is not the only holiday this time of year. We did just celebrate Thanksgiving, remember. I am a Christian, that is not offended by the phrase HAPPY HOLIDAYS.
  • Posted By: annI agree with ladyA its CHRISTMAS
  • Posted By: LadyAWSAZ- Could you please change the word Holiday to Christmas on your question? The word Holiday offends me.
  • Posted By: madTo the doofus deer hunter who knocked my mailbox over on gritt rd if you cant drive any better than that you shouldnt have a GUN and thanks for letting us know you smashed the mailbox. MERRY CHRISTMAS DOOFUS
