HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - A 43-year-old Kenova woman has pleaded guilty in federal court in Huntington to embezzling $704,606 from a conservation district.
Marcia L. Masters entered her plea on Monday and was released on personal recognizance until her sentencing December 1.
Masters faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to twice the amount she embezzled.
Masters testified that she embezzled money from the Guyan Conservation District while serving as the district's administrative officer from 2004 to 2007. The district is under the control of the West Virginia Conservation Agency.
The district receives federal funding to implement various conservation projects in a six-county region that encompasses Boone, Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Mingo and Wayne counties.

It is amazing how a man who owned a car dealership gets busted for a $6 million scheme, gets 26 months in a country club prison and only pays back $1000.00 per month. This lady gets a plea, the children get off the hook, she may get 120 months and $1.4 million fine. Looks as if she has a bad attorney or the other guy had a great one. But her biggest crime was involving her own children, what kind of guidance is that?
Hey all you Bush haters, what say you when one of your own gets caught?
