After burning strong for a day and a half, the Nitro warehouse fire is finally out. But the clean up process is just beginning.

Kanawha County 911 lifted the shelter in place around 11 Friday morning. Just moments after our noon newscast, crews put the fire out. Police also reopened Nitro entrance and exit ramps on I-64.

At this time firefighters don’t know what caused the fire.

There were between forty and fifty thousand tires on fire in the building. There were no injuries, but the fire commanded a significant response from Kanawha Valley firefighters.
