PINCH, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Three people have been arrested in Pinch in Kanawha County. They are accused of making meth.

Mike Balser of Pinch, Dee White of East Bank and Karla Underwood of Elkview were busted Saturday morning. State troopers say they found the things needed to make meth, along with 20 grams of the drug.

The house has been condemned by Kanawha County. Underwood and Balser were both living inside that home.

Dee keep your head held high. I know that you will beat this addiction. You are a good person and a very strong person. I wish you the best of luck.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 11, 2008 at 03:49 PM
what kind of rumors went around that store @ Crosslanes? just curious!

Posted by: afriendfromkc on Sep 10, 2008 at 08:09 PM
People on here have been really open and honest about their feelings about "meth" and instead of her getting mad, she apologizes. That's means alot. I believe she will succeed and the reason I think that is this. Anybody else on here taking the heat the way Dee has would be defending their actions but she didn't. She admitted to her problem, thats the first step of rehab. Good luck Dee, I am wishing you and yours the best. Brooks, I am hoping that your dad finds himself again for your sake. I am pretty sure that you are angry right now and that's ok. Just try to remember your dad prior to Meth.

I must admit this is the first time that I ever heard someone being addicted to meth apologize to the community they way she did. The Dee that I knew always met the challenge head on and I am sure that she will be in that 6% too. She was a cool co-worker and a good friend to me. You still have a friend...

Posted by: anon on Sep 10, 2008 at 01:10 PM
I knew Mike and Dee from working with them @ Cross Lanes. I kinda figured this was coming. There were always rumors around the store. But, I hope Dee does straighten her act up. She was a pretty cool co-worker.

everyone is saying good luck to Candice, I just want to say keep your head up brooks and show them you're better than they are. You're in our prayers too!

Where is this store in Nitro? I am a concerned parent and I think my daughter might be visiting this establishment. Please let me know!

Posted by: Dee on Sep 10, 2008 at 10:37 AM
Not to uphold anything I have done but I feel the need to explain, my children are 19,20 and 22 so I have driven them to soccer practice and also raised them on my own, maintained employment and taught them to stay away from "the bad people". I am very proud of them and feel as though I did a good job. We also were considered a nice family and will be again. Be aware you can't just determine by looking at or assuming you know someone to tell if this drug is a secret part of their life, it does not discriminate. I hope that everyone who touches this drug has an eye-opening expierence like my own.

It is very big of Dee to apologize to the community and to her family. I hope it is a sincere statement. I also hope that we never find you or your friends in our neighborhood again. We saw Mike and Karla trying to get into the house again last night. You owe it to your child to stay away from them and this terrible lifestyle. There are very nice families on Summit Park that do not deserve to live in fear of having drugs or crank heads around our homes. Young children have had to learn about the "bad people" who were doing drugs feet from where they ride their bikes and play ball. It is a sad and scary lesson for them. There are older couples who sleep lighter due to fear. We all feel fooled for not knowing it was going on right under our noses. Dee, you should want better for yourself. I hope the State Police did open your eyes and that you see that they have saved your life. Karla should be ashamed for disrespecting her deceased mother's home. She and Mike are pitiful.

Posted by: Dee White on Sep 9, 2008 at 06:05 PM
I want to first thank my family for standing up for me and to apologize to them, I did'nt try to hurt anyone. I want to thank the WV Sate Police for opening my eyes to what I was subjecting myself and others to. Iam not a monster or your typical "meth addict" but someone who made a huge mistake. I will be one of the 6% who get away from this.I also want to apologize to the community, Iam very sorry.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 9, 2008 at 11:42 AM
Why have they been released from jail? No pictures on inmate search. Somebody tell me that?

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 9, 2008 at 11:03 AM
dang, whese people are already out, that's a way to rehabilitate huh?

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 9, 2008 at 10:59 AM

What Nitro store and why?

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 7, 2008 at 04:26 PM
Dee you should have stayed away from the nitro store huh???

Posted by: methhater on Sep 7, 2008 at 04:24 PM
I see this teenager defending her mom for her addictions when it should be the mom standing behind her daughter or running her to soccer practice. People get tired of houses blowing up next door, thieves stealing to support their habits and etc. What I know is they were busted for making meth and possessing meth and that's all I need to know. You say that rapists, murders and child molesters don't get enough of a sentence, most people feel the same way with meth too. Nobody wants a prison in their neighborhood because of the hidden dangers, I feel the same way with about meth labs..

Posted by: Brooks on Sep 7, 2008 at 03:35 AM
Hey Dad i love you very much

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 7, 2008 at 02:08 AM
GOOD LUCK CANDICE, I THINK YOU'RE GOING TO NEED IT....

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 7, 2008 at 12:54 AM
Candice, you said in one of your comments below that mike and karla were caught a few times before. Do you know when? Why were they released? Did they even go to jail? Not being mean. Just curious. God bless you and your family.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 7, 2008 at 12:47 AM
Candice. I will remain anonymous because I don't want anyone to know who I am. I won't say who I know either. I just wanted to say that my heart goes out to you. This horrible drug really messes people up and takes a toll on everyone involved. They will lose site on what's really important, their families. I'm sure your mom's not a bad person, she just got mixed up with something she lost control of. You stay strong and keep your head up. Eventually people will stop talking about this. This drug definately needs to be stopped. Your mom is not the only one whose been caught up in it. I can tell by reading your posts that you're so hurt over this. It's good that you got to see your mom. She must feel really ashamed to have such a mature daughter having to see her in jail. I'm a mom too and I can't say I'd even have the guts to look at my daughter if that happened to me. I'm very sorry for you and I want You to know that you're in my prayers. Keep your chin up babe!

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 6, 2008 at 06:22 PM
Candice has more people behind her then anyone out there thinking they know what is going on. The best you all can do is give up i can tell by the way she speaks she a strong & also a very wise girl and i believe she knows way more then any of us do so i support you also candice

Posted by: Candice White on Sep 6, 2008 at 06:19 PM
thanks to all of you who are supporting me in this we went and seen my mother on the 4th and she doing very good yall dont know half of what happend so ima let you think you do and sit back and LAUGH ! thanks for lettin my mother be the highlight of your pitiful lifes :)

me too candice

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 5, 2008 at 10:34 AM
you people need to learn respect that little girl is trying her best i suport you CANDACE!!!!!

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 4, 2008 at 06:42 PM
I read that Mike and Karla were locked up before for this. Do they not learn? Obviously, they need more time away from their addiction. I don't know how long that is though because people have been locked up for 2-3 years and when they get out, they go right back after the high...I don't think that people mean to be rude, they just get tired of the people next door cooking the stuff and taking the chance of blowing their families up.. That's not fair either...

Posted by: Candice White on Sep 4, 2008 at 12:29 PM
First off i want to thank who ever wrote that comment my family and i really appreciate it we need support. i kno that only 6% get clean and stay clean but in all honesty i kno my mother can be one of that 6% but on the other hand i wanted to say to the people that want to be rude and once again live for the media and news that there is rapist & also child molesters out there that are hurting Kids Adults ETC and my mother never once brought this around my family and i we had no idea because my mother is such a good person we dident suspect such a thing i kno the mike and karla that my mother was with has gotton caught a couple times befor my mother has just got caught in something horrible She is a very strong lady I have two older sisters that watch over me to make sure im okay and my Grandmother who is here with us night and day will make sure we get thru this . but the point i was trying to get to with the childmolesters and rapist's is that they never get a good enough jail sentence

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 3, 2008 at 11:26 PM
Candice, it is really admirable that you come on here and defend your mom. Yes, your mom needs rehabilitation but that's not going to happen in a 28 day rehab center. With the love and support from you and your family, I am sure that she will survive. But she has to want it first...Noone can do it for her...The truth is that only 6% of meth users that get clean stay clean.I know people that have blown there house up, was in a burn center for a couple of months and then to jail for a few more months only to start looking for a place for his next lab on the day that he got out. I am wishing you and yours the best Candice, you have a long road ahead of you.

Posted by: candice white on Sep 3, 2008 at 08:09 PM
my mother was one of the three and yes i know she was in the wrong but sometimes people make mistakes all of you who want to point fingers and say omg this is horrible they need to be locked up make sure your hands are clean befor you point any fingers im not saying they should just let them go but my mother is a good person . you people live for the media and the news im sure if your mother father daughter or son did this you wouldent be sitting there pointing fingers you guys hear and see what the news says but dont know what really happend it hurts me and my family but you people say dosent mean anything like i said u people feed off this type of stuff thats why u have to stay ANONYMOUS so dont judge people because in my eyes thats gods job

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 3, 2008 at 09:28 AM
I would guess that Myssi knows Mike.

WHERE IN PINCH WAS THIS HOUSE?

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 1, 2008 at 07:19 PM
How in the hell does someone get their hands on 700 pills? Yeah Fort Gay Citizen that is pretty intense but so is 20 grams of meth and had more to make...

Posted by: Fort Gay Citizen on Aug 31, 2008 at 11:17 PM
I am really thankful this lab was shut down, but am very upset that your news station has not followed the story on Vicki Stepp of Louisa, Ky. You reported Saturday night at 11 she was busted in Scioto County Ohio with 700 oxycodone pills. I think this is a big deal and a even bigger concern for us in Fort Gay. She is the biggest known dealer in Louisa and Fort gay areas and we would like to see her stopped and publicity is the only way to do that and she has not been mentioned again, please explain.

because huntington has the crack and heroin

Posted by: Napalm on Aug 31, 2008 at 08:29 PM
Why are their never any meth bust in Huntington?

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 31, 2008 at 07:08 PM
I used to work with Dee and Mike, boy have they changed in the last 8 years. There was another girl that used to hang around with them and she was busted a couple of years ago in Clendenin. Dee told me once before that if I ever had the urge to try this, not to. She said that it consumes you. She said the addiction is the worst thing that she could ever have imagined. The last time that I spoke to her, she told me that she had been clean for a few months. She told me it was getting really bad and she had to get away from it. She said that to many people were starting to suspect things and she was going to end up losing everything that she had. That was a year ago. I really hate this because Dee and Mike were both good to me, but she knew what was coming.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 31, 2008 at 04:43 PM
why cant they stop just stop why cant they see the people they are hurting or even care heartless i hope and pray they all get caught the rehab centers dont seem to be helping if they were helping so many people would'nt be going back to the drugs at least keep them in jail longer but see there even in jail you hear about them getting drugs someone has to know how to fix this drug thing hell i need a new pair of shoe's but you wont see me out there stealing them ive seen to many good people go down the tubes because of drugs

Posted by: Kathy S on Aug 31, 2008 at 04:02 PM
On a side note, does anyone here know how on earth some of these little towns or really just wide spots in the road in WV got their names? Like PINCH? I shudder to think. BIG UGLY???? Can only imagine that doesn't say much about someone lol Theres a bunch more that I've always wondered about Did no one have any imagine other than say "oh hey, the mayor or the founding father's ugly so oh well...it's BIG UGLY"! Or well, I'll leave Pinch alone lol Just curious

I not an expert by any means, yet I find your site non-threating for someone like me. I check your site twice daily and though I usually do not like change, I like this one! I'm thankful for WSAZ's coverage of Southern Ohio. You treat Ohio with the same level of importance as West Virginia. Thanks for a job well done, with heart.

  • Posted By: CathiThanks for the new website. I think it is truly great. Lots of information, great design. I get on this site many times each day and love the new look and info.
  • Posted By: drsenileIn the spirit of this joyous season, let us remember what it celebrates...the love and compassion for our fellow man. So, those of you who do NOT believe the way I do, get out of town! Sound like anyone you know? If you missed the sarcasm, may I suggest you also leave town.
  • Posted By: mooonieI like the new layout , it is easier to find what you're looking for . I can't understand what others are complaining about . Great job !!
  • Posted By: drsenileWell, I just attempted to submit a comment and it disappeared. And no, it wasn't my computer. My basic problem with this site...too much glitz, not enough substance; slow to load information; and, it appears none of the WSAZ staff ever read much of what's here and it might actually improve.
  • Posted By: drsenileIt is the season for honoring a man born 2000 years ago and to celebrate what he brought to all of us in the spirit of love and compassion for our fellow man. So, all of you who DO NOT BELIEVE as I do, get out of town! If you fall to see the sarcasm, by all means, find another planet.
  • Posted By: drsenileI realize I live in the ultra-exclusive suburb of Milton, but I am curious as to the reason gas prices (for one) are consistently higher than our less fortunate neighbors (like Huntington). As of tonight, there is still a 16 cents per gallon differential between Milton and Huntington (and we are NOT lower). I guess we are helping to pay for improvements to the mayors pet projects.
  • Posted By: PaulYour new web page is greate, Your local and national coverage is so much easier to surf. You will have critics out there, but any change that is new will not be accepted for a while, this is common for the region that we live in. Keep up the good work WSAZ. It is not clear why the lawmaker is holding up the nomination. Please call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 to connect with your Senator's office and find out whether they are responsible for holding up this nomination of the watchdog for the massive bailout package.

  • Posted By: BibleThumpersIt's actually a pagan festival for the Winter Solstice. The Christians adopted it as Christ's birthday later on and even adopted many of the pagan items, such as putting up a tree and having a great feast.
  • Posted By: git is the stupidest thing I have ever heard, to be offended by the word "Holiday", this all comes from you bible thumpers that all want to tell other people how to think and what to say. You offend me! This is the Holidays! Even 50 years ago before all this ridiculous crap started, cards said Happy Holidays, because it covered Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's, it is the Holiday Season! So Season's Greetings and Happy Holidays Y'all!
  • Posted By: to Lady A:The "holiday" season also encompasses Hanukkah, a major holiday for those of us who follow the Jewish faith. We also give gifts and do "holiday" shopping this season; thankfully WSAZ is less ignorant than you are and recognizes that their viewership reflects more than one faith.
  • Posted By: to Lady AFYI, Hanukah is also coming up and we of the jewish faith also exchange gifts during this HOLIDAY season. I, for one, am thankful that WSAZ considers all of their viewers. Your comment was incredibly ignorant.
  • Posted By: What the heckI agree with Pat, I'm not liking the new page AT ALL.
  • Posted By: Christian not offendedOk there Lady A, just slow down a minute. Huntingtonian made a good point. Have you ever heard of Hanukah? Some people shop for Hanukah. Jesus was Jewish, so don't tell me that being a Jew is a sin, & Christmas is THE ONLY HOLIDAY this time of year. Yes, I too love to hear MERRY CHRISTMAS, but I refuse to become upset when someone says happy holidays. How do you know if when you say MERRY CHRISTMAS to someone, your not saying it to a Jewish person? Do you ever hear them make a big fat stink about it? NO!!!, you don't. So I think you should just be happy that God has given you another day on this Earth. So that you have the time to celebrate, with your family, whatever holiday you choose. I've decided to say HAPPY MERRY KWANZ~MA~KA that way I've covered them all.
  • Posted By: PatMuch like New Coke and the new Marco I think you've made a mistake with the new web pagedesign. I don't use Yahoo because the site is too cluttered and I feel the same about your new page. More is not necessarily better!
  • Posted By: AriIt is CHRISTMAS it is the time we celebrate Christ being born, not Kwanzza or Hanukah. Kwanzza is racist anyways it's a celebration of being black. I have no problem with people saying Happy whatever it is but I am NOT going to watch what i say and not say Marry Christmas becasue it might offend people
  • Posted By: LadyA`The question was, Did you do any Holiday shopping over the weekend? The shopping they were referring was Christmas shopping. What other holiday shopping would we be doing? Thanksgiving was over. It offended me like many others. It is the Christmas season and I want to see the word Christmas used, not holiday or xmas.
  • Posted By: HuntingtonianI agree with Anonymous!! It is the "holiday season" and by definition, it encompasses all of the holidays that are coming, not just Christmas. I also am a christian and see something inherintly wrong with pigeon holing this time of year to simply "Merry Christmas." What I find really offensive is those of you who believe that it is ok to say "Christmas" but would be outraged if "Happy Kwanza" or "Happy Hanukah" appeared anywhere. So, that being said: HAPPY HOLIDAYS and a JOYOUS NEW YEAR to all!!
  • Posted By: Holiday is in referance to ALL holidays this time of year. I have been saying Happy Holidays since I was a kid, growing up during the 80's. Christmas is not the only holiday this time of year. We did just celebrate Thanksgiving, remember. I am a Christian, that is not offended by the phrase HAPPY HOLIDAYS.
  • Posted By: annI agree with ladyA its CHRISTMAS
  • Posted By: LadyAWSAZ- Could you please change the word Holiday to Christmas on your question? The word Holiday offends me.
