IRONTON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Just a week ago, many people were completely unfamiliar with the name "Sarah Palin."
On Thursday, however, they were talking about the Alaska governor's speech accepting the Republican nomination for vice president of the United States.
At the Peddler restaurant in Ironton, Ohio, customers were talking Thursday about the impact of Palin’s speech on the campaign.
"I was very impressed," said Juanita Southers, who supported Hillary Clinton.
Ruth Langer, who was having lunch with her daughter, said she is perplexed by the election choices – both on the Democratic and Republican sides.
"From the time I was able to vote, I have never not voted," she said. "I don't know who to vote for this time. I don't know if it's worth going to the polls. That's depressing."
Jennifer Barton, meanwhile, said she was very impressed by Palin.
"I felt negative about it when he just up and did that," she said of McCain’s choice of Palin as a running mate. "Nobody knew who she was. After listening to her and what she feels she can do for the American people, I'm impressed."
Palin’s next big test will be the first week of October when she debates the Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden.

OMG you people are so missinformed. truth is Obama is trying to help and you all think McCain really cares, what a joke. I have watched and listened to both sides (which is more than some of you people)and Obama gives you an outline of what he plans to do, where as all McCain/Palin can do is bash. thats Bushes way of doin things more of the same. and I thought the amercain people would be smarter than to vote for another republican. If McCain in god help us all. It will be the end of the americain dream as we know it, unless you make 5 million a year. by the way you know a lobbiest runs his campain, huh I thought he was against lobbiest. so much for the truth huh.
