"Chantix" works by targeting the area of the brain that nicotine affects. The drug provides a small amount of nicotine to help ease withdrawal symptoms, and then it blocks the effect of nicotine if the smoker lights up again.

Studies show it works better than other smoking cessation drugs on the market. The best chance at quitting for good requires 24 weeks of treatment. The most common side effect is nausea.
