UPDATE @ 4:15 Wednesday
The Huntington police department will not pursue charges against Huntington Mayor David Felinton and his wife, who were involved in a domestic call at his home Sunday morning.
Huntington Police Captain Steve Hall said Bethany Felinton, the mayor's wife, admitted to embellishing the story with police and 911.
"She lied if you will," Captain Steve Hall said. "Because she was just flat mad at her husband and wanted to see him in trouble."
Police Chief Skip Holbrook said there were no visible signs of injury on either Mr. or Mrs. Felinton. Holbrook said there were signs both consumed alcohol, but neither appeared to be impaired.
Hall said the police won't charge Mrs. Felinton for making the false call Sunday morning. Hall said it would set a dangerous precedent for the police department.
"It would have a chilling effect. It would deter anyone from reporting a domestic incident," Captain Hall said.
Chief Skip Holbrook applauded the work of his department in the case.
"The way we approached this from the beginning is to be professional, ethical and consistent with how we handle any domestic situation," Skip Holbrook said.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- WSAZ obtained a copy of the 911 call made by Bethany Felinton early Sunday morning. Mrs. Felinton tells 911 dispatchers that her husband, Huntington Mayor David Felinton, was trying "to jump into me and my mother."
Mrs. Felinton claims on the call that Mr. Felinton tried to slam her head into a brick wall.

Original Story, Sunday September 15th
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Huntington Mayor David Felinton held a news conference to explain a domestic disturbance that happened at his home early Sunday morning.
Huntington officers responded to the Felinton home after the mayor's wife, Bethany, called 911 around 12:45 a.m.
When officers arrived, the mayor was standing on the sidewalk and his wife was on the porch, according to a police report. Police found a broken wine glass on the front porch and personal items thrown across the front yard and sidewalk.
Neither was injured, and no one was arrested in the incident.
Mayor Felinton said it all resulted from a misunderstanding due to his wife's stressful situation.
Bethany Felinton asked for forgiveness from emergency workers for her "misuse of the critical resources" that are provided to the community.
Mayor Felinton would not elaborate on what started the argument, other than to say it was due to stress in their relationship. The mayor said the couple will seek counseling.
Police have never been called to the Felinton home before.
Mayor Felinton said police followed proper protocol and did not treat him any differently than any other member of the public.
