Logan Hospital Addition

When you make a trip to the hospital, you expect cafeteria food and elevator music, and it most likely isn't for something fun. But that certainly wasn't the case today in Logan, as the community ushered in a new era of health care.

Steve Chapman already knows what he likes about this $18 million dollar addition. He says, “You had to lay in a hall in the old ER, so this is far, far better. I think this is a giant step forward to be able to provide emergency services.”

Forty thousand people a year use those emergency services. So the chance to grill hospital officials about what they can expect before an emergency actually happens is something to celebrate.

“It just means everything that we might not have to go to Charleston, and we might not have to go to Huntington, that we have the facility here.”

Jackie Brown is from Man where the hospital sits empty. She says, “I was in the hospital last November, and I just think it's wonderful, that we have this facility here.”

Paramedics couldn't agree more. A tour today means a better chance for tomorrow. “Every second counts. We see a lot of heart attacks and auto accidents. This facility will greatly increase the chance of life here.”

Peace of mind that allows us to enjoy what life has to offer, knowing help is there when we need it. Tuesday morning doctors and nurses will welcome their first patients into the brand new ER and Women’s Center.

The official ribbon cutting ceremony will be Monday morning.
