CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A case of domestic violence took a dangerous turn Tuesday night in Charleston.
Now Charleston Police are looking for the man they say "violently beat" Cherylin Olivia Bown.
The crime happened Tuesday night around midnight at 210 Daniel Boone Drive.
According to a press release, Officers served Richard James Lynch, 34, with a domestic violence petition around 10:30pm Tuesday and escorted him from the residence and told him not to come back. A short time later, while Cherylin was standing outside smoking, Lynch returned.
Police say Lynch knocked Cherylin down, kicked and punched her, and threatened to cut her face. However, she was never stabbed.
Cherylin told police Bown told her he was mad about the petition and he was going back to New York.
Cherylin was taken to CAMC General, but her injuries are not life threatening.
Police are still looking for Lynch. When he's caught, police say he will be charged with malicious wounding.
According to court records, Lynch was charged with domestic battery on July 8, 2008.
