CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The doctor named in dozens of malpractice lawsuits in Putnam County has lost his medical license in another state.

A spokesperson with the Alabama Board of Medicine tells WSAZ.com the board revoked John King's license this week.

The board heard testimony back in August after allegations that King overdosed two patients in 2006 when he worked at a clinic near Birmingham.

King still faces dozens of lawsuits in West Virginia, but some of them have already been settled.

Back in 2003, King voluntarily surrendered his West Virginia license.

King worked at Putnam General Hospital from November 2002 until June of 2003.

If he loses his licences in one state, he should lose them in all states.

Well, that's a good start!! I totally believe that he overdosed patients, when you consider his standard practice was to bring you into the exam room, ask if you have had any pain, then he'd write a script for Lortabs or Maxidone and send you on your way, at least that's what he did for me. After a being a patient of his for a little while, he'd then start talking surgery for you. It STILL amazes me that he is basically free to walk the streets. Worker's Comp needs to review the claims for services rendered that he submitted. I'm willing to bet that he submitted claims for work he never performed!

The medical profession is just like the police departments. They close ranks and will not tell anyone except their own families about these bad doctors. The only thing we can do right now is call the state that the doctor is practicing in and ask the licensing board if their license is valid and what lawsuits they have pending or have settled. It is up to the consumer to protect themselves. Medical practice is just like any other business. Yeah, it's considered a business now. So like every other business I suggest....."Buyer be ware".
