CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The University of Charleston rolled out the red carpet Friday for its Starry Starry Night Fund-raiser.
Charleston's own Jennifer Garner came home to host the event and was the star of the night.
Almost eight hundred tickets were sold to the event.
To keep things under control, Jennifer was almost the last to walk the red carpet.
She was very excited to be home and to see so many close friends and family. She also took time out to stop and talk to the media.
She says this was her first big public event in Charleston and she's happy that she can bring a positive image to West Virginia.
Jennifer's husband, actor Ben Affleck was also with her, but he didn't walk the red carpet.
The goal of Friday's fundraiser was to raise money for a new gym at UC. It will be named after Mario and Louise Palumbo. Jennifer was very close with the Palumbos while she was growing up and wanted to be here to show her support.

She seems like the most kind hearted person. I am glad that she is standing up for her home state. A couple of years ago she even thanked West Virginia when she won an oscar or emmy. We need people like her to shine a different light on how people look at our state across the U.S.
I love both of them! They deserve credit for being down to earth and I think Jen is gorgeous!
I thought this one was married to Billy Joel. Who's Billy Joel married to, then? I can't keep all these WV celebrities straight.
