Repeat DUI Offenders Subject to More Testing in New Ohio Law

COLUMBUS (AP) - Authorities in Ohio can now force drivers who
have two or more drunken driving convictions to submit to a blood
or urine test without their consent.
A new law that takes effect Tuesday gives police more leeway
than most states to compel blood or urine tests for repeat
offenders suspected of drunken driving. A few other states require
mandatory blood testing but only in certain circumstances.
The law applies to people convicted of intoxicated driving twice
in six years or five times in 20 years. It also requires an online
database to track offenders with drunken-driving and related
convictions.
Supporters say it will help stop dangerous behavior. But civil
liberties advocates call it unconstitutional and plan to challenge
it.

To Debbie: Very good point! Although i dont think im happy with the idea of the police restling a guy to the ground and sticking a needle in his arm based solely on a cops suspicion. Your thoughts??

Good. But the thing is, with 2 or more DUI charges, how are you still driving in the first place? What ever happened to the strict "We're out to get the drunk drivers" laws?? DUI laws are a joke.

Ohio resident, you can be under the influence of substances a breathalyzer won't detect. Alcohol is not the under dangerous substance to use while driving. repeat offender should have to install ignition lock devices at their own expense.
