JEFFERSON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies say a fight between a man and his girlfriend at an adult bookstore Thursday night escalated into a serious situation.

It happened at about 7:00 p.m. at Crazy Mitch's on MacCorkle Avenue in Jefferson.

According to a news release from Lieutenant Sean Crosier with the KCSD, 25-year-old Paula Shultz was lying on her back and crying with 31-year-old Robert Holley standing over her when deputies arrived.

Crosier says Holley tried to leave, but was taken into custody by one of the deputies and immediately started to fight the deputy. Two other deputies jumped in and handcuffed Holley, then placed him in the cruiser. They found hypodermic needles, prescription narcotics, and marijuana on him.

Shultz followed suit, according to Crosier, and began fighting with deputies, kicking one of them and kicking a large dent in the cruiser.

After Shultz was subdued, Crosier says Holley tried to kick out the cruiser window. Deputies then put leg shackles on him. Again, Crosier says Shultz followed suit, also trying to kick out the window. Shultz also spit in the deputies face during the ordeal, according to Crosier.

A witness told investigators that the two had been physically fighting and arguing on the back lot of the store for about an hour before someone called police.

Holley is charged with 3rd offense domestic battery, assault during the commission of a felony, resisting arrest, and obstructing an officer. Crosier says he already has already been convicted of 3rd offense domestic battery.

Shultz was charged with domestic battery, 3 counts of battery on a police officer, obstructing an officer, resisting arrest, and destruction of property.

Both were taken to the South Central Regional Jail.

Odd they pulled you over Jules and that you had Xanax on you. Had you taken any of them before you were driving, because if you did, you probably shouldn't have. That is still driving under the influence.

If you want to get spit on at work, work at the DMV. Drunks, spitters, crackheads, and white trash stumble in there all the time. As for these people, too funny!! Sounds like an erotic "date night" went sour, huh?

paul, cops pulled me over, thought I was intoxicated. I passed the breathalyzer. They took my cell phone and my prescription xanax and pocketed it. I wasn't charged with anything. I don't have a phone or my prescription medicine now. I don't want to contact the police for fear of some retributive trumped up charges. Yeah, some cops are dirty.
