According to State of Illinois records, Obama was useless the first 6 years in office. His last year the dems took over and Jones, SML, said "Gonna make me a US Senator. Barack Obama." He proceeded to change all the sponsors names on every high profile bill to Obama. Jones was paid back with $$ from pork barrels , or as Jones says, "I call it steak." Obama did nothing. He was a pawn. "Obama evaded leadership on a host of critical community issues, from historic preservation to the rapid demolition of nearby public-housing projects, according to many South Siders," per Todd Spivak, the reporter who was assigned to cover local Chicago Politics. However, while a community organizer (one in training for radical overthrow of gov't as defined by Ayers), he did work for a radical socialist communist group. He taught ACORN members how to intimidate others with force, all while not even being a US citizen. He is still a citizen of Indonesia. He never took the US oath to gain US citizenship.

To McCain supporter: Why are you so hateful? It seems to be a trend with McCain people. Hateful, angry, and plain mean spirited...Just like your canidates.

Palin maybe in the race but she will never be Hillary!

I caint wait till the democrats get in office. I hope they send the whole package to me in my mailbox. All my free stuff at one time. That would be awesome !!!!

Posted by: JOe on Oct 13, 2008 at 12:28 PM
Hey Jon, He is white. He is a white as he is black. Wouldnt it be good for canditates to run unseen. That way they would not get elected by the color of their skin. That would be truly a great moment.

Big "o" is a good name the way you guys act when you see him.

Posted by: JC on Oct 13, 2008 at 11:41 AM
Obama and his campaign are trying to start another Civil War by redefining the lines of the class system. He has no idea of how to run the country, nor does he truly care about the people in it.

When in the coarse of human events it becomes a nation to vote for DEMOCRATES.No nation can survive under a leader like BUSH and make no mistake about it,McCain is and always has been a copy of the great leader BUSH who has lead us to the brink of depression as the republicans did in 1929.McCain recently even quoted Hoover as having a "good policy on economics" only mistakes were made!72 years old and still thinks we are in a "good economy"=for the rich.

Looks like things are really getting seious. Some of us don't even care anymore about rep or dem, male or female, white or black. We'd rather see our dollar go further, and know that a dollar is a dollar and it's really ours if we earn it. Most important we're allowed to keep it and govern it because we are americans. Or at least we think we are.. Oh well, as for me and my friends we thought about writing in Hilary, then decided we'd have better luck just writing in Carrot Top as our vote.

I am amazed that people get on here and get so upset. They say... "Vote Democrat, it's those darn Republicans that have us in this mess, they're so dishonest!" Geez! I hate to be the one to break this sad news to you, but, they all lie. Yes, I'm sorry, but it's true. They all lie and lie and lie and lie. They are politicians so they lie. The job requires a long resume of half-truths, distortions and yes, lies. Get yourself informed, know what is truly in your own heart and VOTE. Don't allow any politician, their spouse, running mate or anyone else to tell you how to vote. You must look in your own heart and stand up for what you believe in... not what your told to believe. We must not be sheep. We must not allow ourselves to be led or mislead. Stand up and be counted. VOTE.

yeah, democrats have done a great job allowing our economy to crumble. I especially like how they all voted for a bailout that would include earmarks as bribes.

WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE IN THIS AREA RELATE POLITICS WITH RELIGION? RELIGION AND ABORTION SHOULD NOT EVEN BE A CONCERN TO THIS ELECTION, GET OVER IT. WE LIVE ON A PLANET THAT HAS MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE ON IT. IF CHRISTIANS START SAYING THAT WE ARE THE ONLY RELIGION THAT IS RIGHT, HOW ARE WE ANY BETTER THAN HITLER AND THE NAZIS, AND LET ALONE THOSE WHO HATE US FROM THE MIDDLE EAST? CHEW ON THAT GOSH DARN IT JOE SIX PACK.

To ohio voter: your post says more about you than it does about anyone else. Palin is completly out of touch with us average folks. She said in the debate she was in sh was middle class!?!? Middle class? she has got to be kidding, since when did middle class become $1,200,000.(million) in assets ans $250,000. in income last year? Vote for change we can belive in.

By reading comments on this issue it appears there are many narrow minded people. Obama Biden are going to do a great job! I think many people need to get out of the 17th century and realize that the rest of America is not as racist as the Ohio River Valley and down into the mountains of WVA and kentucky. Also if McCain and Palin want to rebuild our economy, why the heck would they pick a place like WAL_MART in which 90% of the product is from China! It must be a really horrible way to live life being a so blind, and Hypocritical!

To adorable. Did you have to be cute and flirty to get your degree or did you just have to work to get them. Good looks only get you so far. Most people have to have some brains behind the looks. You have made it. Encourage others to try instead of making them think they have to be attractive to succeed.

For those who followed Senator Hillary Clinton I do not understand your resistance to continue to follow her and her request to vote Senator Obama. She has asked you to remain in the party and vote accordingly. If she was right earlier this year has she Changed or have you? Where you as devout to her as you now claim? Are you saying she is a hypocrite and she is not sincere in her words now? Explain, please, your deep respect then to her but not to her request now. She has made 50 campaign stops for Senator Obama. So at each one of these stops is she lying more and more?

Posted by: Debbie on Oct 12, 2008 at 05:49 PM
I have listened to all the comments about who they want for president but over this past week since everybody blames Bush for our problems lets not stop at the White House lets vote all the incubents out of office and really have a change because if all of them get back in office we are going to have the same o'l stuff. So if your going to point fingers lets clean house.PS-To anonymous, let's remember who signed the NAFTA agreement and it wasn't a republican. Also, to let you know I am a registered Democrat and I am sick and tired of all the senate and house politics.

THE DEMOCRATS HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB THE PAST 2 YEARS SINCE TAKING OVER 29/50 GOVERNORSHIPS, 30 STATE LEGLISTORS, AND HUGHE MARGINS IN BOTH HOUSE AND SENATE. THEY HAVE PASSED 2 GREAT PEACES OF LEGILTION, THEY GAVE TEMSELVES A PAY RAISE AND THEY BAILED OUT THERE CROOKED BUDDIES AT FREDDIE AND FANNIE, THE ONES WHO GAVE OBAMA ALL THE MONEY STRIPPED FROM THE WORKING MANS PENSIONS AND BENIFITS, SO OBAMA CAN LOOKED AT HIM SELF IN A MIRROR AND TELL PEOPLE HOW GREAT HE IS AND BLAME EVERTHING ON BUSH WHILE HIS PARTY CONTROLS 2/3 OF OUR GOVERNMENT. A YEAR FROM NOW WE WILL HAVE A DOUBLED ENEMPLOYMENT RATE AND GAS AT 5 BUX A BARREL SO THE LIBERL NEWS MEDIA AND EVIL HOLLWOOD CAN MOCK JESUS CHRIST AND THE CHRISTIANS AND BLAME BUSH 20 YEARS FROM NOW. OBAMA IS CHANGE OF MORE OF THE SAME. OBAMA IS WORSE THAN BUSH. IF YOU LIBERALS HATE BUSH SO BAD VOTE FOR OBAMA AND YOU WILL HAVE BUSH PLUS A LIBERAL COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT.

why doesnt wsaz report what time mrs palin wil be in gallipolis? they sure was quick to let everyone know when obama was arriving and his schedule. i guess they figure if you dont know what time you wont show up.another example of the medias bias.

I CAN NOT believe after seeing Palins interviews, her background, her TROOPERGATE, her HATEFULLNESS, that any voter could possibly think she could be our next Vice President, even more of a danger our President! Its sad that we have a country that is so full of prejudice. I bet if Obama was white he would have a 50% lead instead of his 10% lead he has now.

Posted by: charles carroll on Oct 12, 2008 at 02:52 AM
They have to know how bad their numbers are now , It will be close to a landslide for Obama now . I have to admit the one thing I have in common with the " Palin-toligists " shes a good looking airhead , gets me everytime .

Hey Maverick lady - nice abuse of power as Governor of Alaska! Obama's so much more presidential than McCain. And the way his crazy followers are insanely mad that a black man is beating him shows we don't need another four years of conservative leadership! Obama/Biden in 08!! The time has come to make history and turn our country around!

It was good to read your comment. It is good to see people using their head and admitting to the goods we have reaped with our President. My husband is in construction and even though most union members WILL NOT admit it, they have had more work in the last 6 or 8 years than they have had in the last 20. We have enjoyed having 2 good full time jobs and when he cut taxes, that allowed us more freedom to buy a new home and send a child to college. Most people want to complain they're worse off now, but if people would look past "republican", they would have to admit that most people are better off now. I am all for working, keeping as much of my money as I can and using it wisely for my family's needs. Go McCain-Palin!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, if she stops in Gallipolis, No one will know where, they aren't releasing that info... if she has to be in St.Clairsville by 6pm.. She will probably be like McCain.. his bus went through and they didn't even stop for a red light.. She wouldn't have time to get to BEF. then to Marietta and St. Clairsville. Just stand on the street corner and wait for the black SUV's and the bus.. Wave bye bye. This is insane, why announce you are going to be ther ... but not the time. Great organizational planning.

If I were John McCain I'd be worried about having her as my VP. She will stop at nothing to get her way. Wonder if he'll hire someone to taste his food like they did in the Middle Ages?

Posted by: woollesseyes on Oct 11, 2008 at 09:48 PM
how dumb do the republicans think we are? Did McCain think any ol' woman would do? This will be a republican loss of historic proportions! The whole world is looking at us...some circling like voltures. We need leadership that will bring us back to the respected world power we once were and the only way to get that this time is to vote obama-biden. Mccain/Palin is trying to play a little good-cop/bad-cop with you republicans, are you so jaded you can't see that? He's the one(and his associates) who is/are planting the seeds of fear and stirring the racial pot, but that's just his "strategy" or is that a tactic? Anyway, let McCain enjoy this run because the loss will be quite devastating! Oh Yeh...SEE YOU AT THE POLLS! GO VOTE!

To Just the Facts who said "During his eight years in the Illinois state Senate, Senator Obama worked with both Democrats and Republicans to help working families get ahead by creating programs like the state Earned Income Tax Credit". YOU ARE AN IDIOT!!! Obama is a complete fake. I work and I always have and I make decent money, although still far far from rich and I can tell you now that George Bush has been the reason that my husband and I have blossomed over the last four years. He is the reason we had tax cuts and child tax credit that helped us make a down payment on a house (for which we've never missed a payment because we take personal responsibility). Although I no longer qualify for earned income credit, I did for years and I can assure that the "second coming" had nothing to do with it. I can't believe how stupid people are being about that smooth talking, lying, diry crook who hates this country and what we stand for. Not to mention his evil wife.

It's too bad many democrats will vote Nobama just because he's in their party without questioning anything about the guy.He does a lot of talking to make people feel good and that's about it knowing that some people will believe anything. If he's turning the corner in WV why haven't him or Joe showed up in WV? Maybe if he came there telling folks his message of change they'd vote that sorry Rockerfeller out of office. Now that would be change!

mavericks ha ha ha ,they both lie, anyway after reading troopergate,if that one gets in, the palins will knock off mccain within the first year then look at the empty headed mess you got.when she steps up to the prez.and toddy run the white house like he does alaska. admit it shes stupid all shes good for is making mud pies and fling them at barrack, and after another week with the press on her she may quit because of the other stuff she dont want to come out. i can see russia, gotcha,i ll bring him tooya. ha ha ha look at courics intervu with her she knows nothing and mccain doesnt know anything about the econ.he even said so bomb, bomb, bomb, iran he is a war monger.he never got that high rank in the navy and has no idea whats going on or how to win a war.when he went to washington he got there 2 hrs. before the meeting was over and never opened his mouth, now he has another stupid idea about the bail out, wake up,repub core values= greed hogish lies haa haa lol.

Palin apparently is trying to imitate Hillary. Sen. Clinton visited the Bob Evans Farm before the Ohio primary. "Governor, we know Hillary. Hillary is a friend of ours., and Governor, you're no Hillary Clinton."

Posted by: Mary on Oct 11, 2008 at 10:29 AM
I find it amusing that people blame "the Republicans" for everything when in fact Congress was controled by a Democratic majority. Everything the president does has to be passed through Congress. Therefore, Democrats approved of what Bush was doing. Democrats approved the war in Iraq, national budgets, everything we complain about. I am definately not saying that republican are not to blame, but I think there is enough blame to go around on both side of the aisle. What we need to be looking at is how to fix the problems, not who to blame for them.

"she has more experience than nobama. so what your argument. go mcain palin" Check your facts there trayne, she does not have more experience then Obama, she has less than 2 years of exp in being a governor and obama has more than 2 yrs of exp as a senator. Palin sworn into office on Dec. 4, 2006 Obama Sworn into office on January 4, 2005 Palin =Since taking office, her top priorities have been resource development, education and workforce development, public health and safety, and transportation and infrastructure development. Obama= During his eight years in the Illinois state Senate, Senator Obama worked with both Democrats and Republicans to help working families get ahead by creating programs like the state Earned Income Tax Credit, which in three years provided over $100 million in tax cuts to families across the state. Now, if you don't believe what I've put up here, go to their offical websites and look for yourselves, afterall, this is where I found the info.

Cry all you want, but Obama will carry W.Va. And I never thought I'd say that, but it will be happening. He's going to the White House, or McCain is going to pull off a miracle that has never been seen before. I don't care if it's Democrat or Repub., but both of these candidates stink to high heaven. And Palin? She doesn't even have any business being in this, even as bad as the prez. candidates are, and that is saying something. Buckle in, because it's gonna be a bumpy ride, folks.

I live in Huntington but work in Gallipolis and I am so excited that we will get to see Sarah up close and personal. I just hope she will speak in Huntington so I don't have drive one hour to see her. She needs our support because the people are being fooled by the MSM into thinking Obama is just like them. But, he is a socialist extreme who is a front for some pretty seedy people. Please look into what he REALLY believes. and who he really is? He scares me so bad. John McCain may not be a true conservative, however he is the only alternative we have in this election. The fraud in this election may help get Obama elected so please vote with your head and vote McCain/Palin. Get out and show your support for her. You won't be sorry!

I for one will not be attending a rally for Palin. She can keep her Hockey Mom, Joe Six Pack , Maverick truckin right on up the river. I can not believe that the Repbulicans are trying the best to make a very inexperienced woman like this look like someone who could run a country. She maybe a woman... but she isn't a replacement for HILLARY. We woman are not fooled by her "down earthy" metaphors. We need someone who can answer questions without saying, I'll get back to you on that one...or Gottcha

  • Posted By: joeI have worked for companies all over this nation and have had to take drug tests. Why should teachers be exempt from this practice? It is now common to be randomly tested(and I have been) so what makes a teacher any different than a steel worker. I can say proudly that I passed but I have seen those who didn't. They chose to use drugs and lost their jobs I didn't.
  • Posted By: KatyAs a teacher, I have no problem being randomly drug tested...as long as you agree to drug test the parents who enter the doors of my school as well. Most teachers deal with students who are exposed to/use more drugs and alcohol than any of the teachers. If these students or parents who are using drugs (and are not drug tested) enter our schools, the safety of the teachers and students are at risk. Since children spend more time with them, let's randomly drug test PARENTS, too!!!
  • Posted By: stephenWhy the heavy emphasis ont he damage to property and life Israel is doing . Where was the media uproar for years that Hamas was rocketing Israel irespective of innocent israelis.. Hamas is actualykilling their own citizens by firing rockets from UN schools and residents. Why does UN allow Hamas to use facilities for attacking Israel, then complain when Israel responds to protect their territory and citizens. Israel targets military targets, respons to from whence rockets or gun fire comes. What would we fire at if Huntington was attacked? Why does the media not put bla,e where balame belongs, and give moral support to the aggreived. What would America do if attacked? to whom would we listen? Russia, Saudi Arabia,Iran?.Media get REAL! Who has given Hamas and the Palestinians millions with which they could buy weapons---American taxpayers money!
  • Posted By: RobertAlthough I feel for the employees that lost their positions at Cabell Huntington Hospital, at least more nurses were hired. I recently had a relative in the cardiac unit at Kings Daughters, in Ashland, and I was told that the nursing staff had been cut back and that no overtime was being given. This seems to be a drastic cut in patient care for a facility that spends thousands advertising that they are in the top 5% of cardiac hospitals in the country. I would be willing to wager that the Cleveland Clinic has not cut hours of those giving patient care.
  • Posted By: BoydIf the state's budget is doing so well, why don't we use some of this money to help towns and cities in the state who are in trouble with their budget, or will this just become another pay raise for politicians?
  • Posted By: RobWhy does everyone have to be so into using the term "racist" and have that kind of attitude. I know what my heritage is and who my ancestors were but you want to know what I consider myself? I AM AN AMERICAN! I was born and raised in this country and that's how I feel it should be. Born here, raised here.....then by God you are an American. Not an African American, not an Asian American etc. etc. You are an AMERICAN!
  • Posted By: ChrisTo Ex-Officer: I agree with you 100% about the pay of police dept and the drug testing. I was formerly involved with the BCPD and had multiple ride alongs with the BCSO. I am probably one of their biggest critics due to having watch some of the bad side of the department for a long time. I wish that I could tell everything that I have seen officers do,which would put most of them behind bars or they'll lose their sheild, But retalliation is bad in our area. To the cops that do their job and do it with the best intentions, I proud of you and don't mean any disrespect. To the ones who I personally watch being more currupt then the "badguys" here, your day will be coming.
  • Posted By: PabloTeachers aren't the only ones underpaid. Law enforcement officers are underpaid also. And I'd like to speak about them. For example, I'm sure any parent would sacrifice their live for thier children. And several may give thier live to save their spouse. A few individuals may even do it for a close friend. But, I only know of 3 types of beings who will sacrifice thier lives for complete strangers; indeed even for people who hate them. The first would be our men and women in our armed forces. The second would be our law enforcement officers. And of course, third would be our Savior, Jesus Christ. Others are killed in the line of their employment, but not in order to save a complete stranger. Everytime a cop puts on his/her uniform, they can be a target for anyone upset about something. Even though it doesn't involve the cop personally, that very cop will give his life to save yours when a problem arises. We need to give our cops not only a wage, but a living wage and a great big THANKS.
  • Posted By: CraigIf what I am hearing is correct that Kanawha County teachers accepted a pay raise in return for submitting to drug testing, and then sued successfully so they do not have to be subject to testing, then why shouldn't we the taxpayers demand they return the raise?
  • Posted By: teresaracist lmao i am one cherokee, german, irish, german, and who knows what else TIRED of hearing of racist comments u are either GOOD OR BAD k no skin color needed just evil or NOT
  • Posted By: Ex-OfficerI agree with Robert 100% I worked in law enforcement and loved the job but try to rise a family on less than 10.00 an hour (out of that pay for your own duty gear and gun). I believe that all public safety workers should be drug tested but i also believe that they should be paid for the job that they do. Not many people understand what a public safty worker goes through. Would you put your life on the line for this kind of pay? Remember the saying that you get what you pay for. I see this in several new officers in my area. Don't get me wrong there are still very good officers in law enforcement. Something really needs to be done about the low pay for these jobs.
  • Posted By: GarlandWhat's the difference between teachers and other workers(coal mineers, bus drivers, state employees, etc.)? Teachers aren't any better are they?
  • Posted By: This is not a comment, but I would like comments on it please. What do you think of Poca High School? Racist or not?
  • Posted By: RobertWe the people, through our own self centeredness and apathy, have allowed our teachers and police officials to be some of the most underpaid people in the United States. We are trusting our childrens education and our public safety to the very people that are some of the most underpaid profesions in the U.S.. If I could change this, I would. However, I do believe that these people should be randomly drug tested. I work in the construction industry and I have no problem being drug tested. I have nothing to hide. I also believe that any person who is intrusted with the safety of others should have nothing to hide. This includes plitical officials up to and including the president.
