Video will be available shortly

UPDATE @ 9:55pm Thursday: State police say they now believe the possbile abduction is a hoax. Information from the cell phone carrier linked police to the owner of the cell phone--a person state police say has "done this before." Officers are working right now to track down this suspect. Police say they intend to file charges, and because the FBI was involved, the charges may be federal.

More than three dozen police officers from the West Virginia State Police, FBI, and local agencies helped in the search for the car.

ORIGINAL REPORTS:
State Police in Braxton County are reporting a possible child abduction that happened between 4:30 and 5pm Thursday. They're looking for a light blue convertible with a gold top and Ohio plates containing the numbers 20446.

State Police believe a young girl may be calling 911 from the trunk of the car. The car has Scooby Doo and Mickey Mouse heads on the antenna. Police say the possible abductor is a heavyset man with braces wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the word "beware" printed on it.

Right now, state police say the girl told them that her mom was changing a tire on the side of the road when, a man matching the description above, shot her mom and stuffed her in the trunk of the car. The girl has made several calls to the state police and 911. She reported seeing a sign that said "Buckhannon." Police have not found the girl's mother.

State police have launched a helicopter and have called in the FBI. They believe the car could be anywhere in or around Braxton or Upshur counties. They're also trying to track the cell signal.
