CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Democrat Natalie Tennant will be West
Virginia's next secretary of state, defeating a Republican
challenger to become just the second woman to hold that statewide
office.
Tennant was beating the GOP's Charles Minimah with nearly 69
percent of the vote and 5 percent of precincts reporting.
A Kanawha County resident, Tennant is a consultant and former
television news anchor. She will succeed Secretary of State Betty
Ireland, a Republican who chose not to seek re-election.
Tennant ran for the office in 2004 but fell short in the
primary.
This year, she bested two legislative leaders to win her party's
nomination. She's campaigned as someone well-versed in the
secretary of state's various duties. Those roles include West
Virginia's chief elections officer.

Way to go Natalie, I also used to watch you on channel 8. I've always voted for you every time your name came up on the ballot. This time it worked and I'm proud of you. Just maybe the next it will be for governor.
Big whoopie. What does the SOS do, anyway? This lady just wanted a cushy job in politics, and she finally got one. The only reason she won is because Betty Ireland decided not to run for reelection.
I know Natalie will do a great job as Sec of State. She's been fighting for this position for a long time. Best Wishes!
