COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio voters today rejected a proposed $600
million casino -- the fourth time plans for expanded gambling in
the state have been turned down since 1990.
Voters approved a new payday lending law that cuts the annual
percentage rate that lenders can charge to 28 percent and limits
the number of loans customers can take to four per year. It is
among the strictest laws in the country.
In early unofficial returns, the gambling issue was defeated 62
percent to 38 percent. Support for the payday lending law was at 66
percent.
Supporters of Issue 6 bet that voters would think more about
Ohio's economic problems than their previous opposition to casinos
and gambling. The state in August recorded its highest unemployment
rate in 16 years at 7.4 percent.

what is the last name of lisa and her duaghter on the issue 6 commerial. is she from wilmington, ohio. did she lose her job at dhl airpark.
Well as I sit here and type it has been just been 8 days since issue 5 passed and already 1 of the payday loans building has been destroyed in Chesapeake and those 4 people that worked there are now unemployed. Also 1 payday loan building has not even opened since the 4th of this month.Their employees haven't worked for 8 days and we all know that if you don't work you don't get paid.So as this story goes on just in the tri-state area alone those steel mills aren't the only businesses that are out so are these people.Just today Ohio announces that the state is running low on unemployment funds.Seems to me that these folks that voted for issue 5 put the cart before the horse this time.I am Mark Thompson, proud, patriotic,God fearing Ohio raised, and this state has about gone to the dogs with the ignorant government that we have ruling over us.So thank you all that voted against issue 6 and for issue 5.Our state is in for some bad economic times.
