Spring Valley Flood Relief

Almost two weeks ago some folks who live in Spring Valley lost everything in a flashflood. Now a special fund has been set up to help the flood victims.

The neighborhood association meeting last night found that although the red cross has come to the rescue with money and cleaning supplies, rebuilding walls, replacing furniture and flooring is what people there are still facing.

Other local churches are also helping out. One church donated one-thousand dollars in gift certificates. Another donated clothing vouchers to help flood victims get back on their feet.

Justin Lucas, “I can't believe the water got that high.”

It's still like a bad dream for Justin Lucas. Four feet of water surrounded and invaded his home. He's getting through the ordeal with help from generous neighbors.

Justin Lucas, “I feel relieved, getting extra money helps some.”

Folks who attended the Westmoreland Neighborhood Association meeting Tuesday night voted to start a Spring Valley Flood Fund.

Anybody who wants to donate to the Spring Valley Flood Fund can contact Jim Ritter at 429-1882.
