Miner Injured in Mingo County
911 dispatchers say a miner suffered a serious hand injury at a mine site in Mingo County.

BEN CREEK, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- 911 dispatchers say a miner suffered a serious hand injury at a mine site in Mingo County.

It happened just after 1 p.m. at the Mountaineer Alma Mine in Ben Creek, owned by Cobra Natural Resources.

Dispatchers say the miner's hand was somehow crushed.

According to Jama Jarrett, spokesperson for the Office of Miners' Health Safety and Training, the injured miner is being taken to a nearby hospital with a non-life threatening injury

No other information is being released at this time.

They won't ever stop shortcutting safety.. it might interfere with their travel & entertainment fund for their corp. officers! I think the miners should all strike until safety conditions are improved! Maybe that'll get something done.

when are coal companies gonna quit shortcutting safety. these miners are just trying to make a safe living.
