SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - South Charleston High boys basketball Coach Bobby Dawson is recuperating after suffering a heart attack.

Principal Mike Arbogast said Thursday that Dawson was on his way home from practice when he was stricken Tuesday night. Dawson was taken to a hospital and a stent was placed at the spot of the blockage.

Arbogast says Dawson is in good spirits and hopes to be going home soon.

South Charleston has reached the Class AAA championship game in each of the past two seasons, losing to Huntington in 2007 and Woodrow Wilson in 2008.

South Charleston opens the 2008-09 season on Dec. 17 at home against Huntington.
