CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shield is getting help from the state to build a new headquarters in Parkersburg.
The state Economic Development Authority approved a $10 million low-interest loan for the project on Thursday.
Mountain State awarded a $19.3 million contract for construction of the 127,000-square-foot building in December 2007. Including furniture, equipment and fixtures, the project's total cost is expected to be nearly $27 million.
The new headquarters will house all 675 employees based in Parkersburg. Besides the existing headquarters, the company now leases space in three buildings.
Mountain State is West Virginia's largest health insurance carrier.
