CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Colonel Dave Lemmon plans to retire at the end of this year as superintendent of the West Virginia State Police.

Lemmon will have completed just about four years on the job when he steps down December 31st. Lemmon came out of retirement to take the job in 2005.

“Col. Lemmon has led the State Police through a number of positive changes, and his efforts have benefited the safety and security of our citizens, while improving the ranks of the troopers under his command,” Governor Joe Manchin said in a written statement.

No replacement has been named yet.
