CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - L. Wade Linger Jr., who has years of experience with high technology in the public and private sectors, has been appointed to the West Virginia Board of Education.
Gov. Joe Manchin announced the appointment Friday, saying Linger's background is a good match to the state's goal of providing high-tech skills to its students.
Linger's appointment fills a vacancy left by Ron Spencer, whose term ended on Nov. 4.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, Linger has worked for a variety of high-tech companies, including a stint as the first vice president of research for the West Virginia High Technology Consortium.
