Ohio University has fired two computer specialists who were suspended in June after a series of electronic break-ins.

University trustees voted in June to spend up to $4 million to upgrade the university's computer security system.

The university also suspended Tom Reid, the director of Computer and Network Services, and Internet and systems manager Todd Acheson.

They were given termination letters Thursday.

Bill Sams, the university's associate provost for information technology and chief information officer, plans to leave those jobs when the university finds a replacement.
