Members of the United Steelworkers Union voted late Friday 352-158 to accept the terms of a three year contract.

Workers say the approval is a relief for a community that was on the verge of a strike. The union reached a tentative agreement with Century Aluminum managers on the eve of a scheduled strike at the company.

The main issue between the union and company had been over health care.
