A man from Huntington is facing charges of malicious wounding after a robbery attempt at a Lavalette pharmacy. Police say Larry Boggess was wearing a black cape and hood when he went inside the McCloud Family Pharmacy Saturday morning. Officers say Boggess had two knives and a crowbar and tried to rob the pharmacy of Oxycontin.
Trooper J.K. Ramey of the West Virginia State Police was already nearby when the call came from 911. Trooper Ramey says when he went inside the pharmacy, Boggess was fighting pharmacist Jeff McCloud. Ramey says Boggess cut McCloud several times, and the Trooper himself was cut on his arm while trying to arrest Boggess. Boggess is in the Western Regional Jail. McCloud is recovering at home and pharmacy employees say he is doing o.k. Both the victim and suspect declined our requests for an interview.
