UPDATE: Saturday @ 6pm
By: Amanda Goodman
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A quiet night at the movies turned out to be anything but after a man with a gun held up the Marquee Cinemas last night at Pullman Square.

But if you weren’t by the concession stand, you probably had no idea what had just happened.

Katie McDonald was watching the new James Bond movie when the robbery took place, but was completely unaware

"We had no idea what was happening," said McDonald.

The feature presentations went on and no movies were stopped, even as police dogs searched theaters for a scent of the suspect.

Xnji Luther was in a theater the dogs searched, she too had no clue what was going on.

"The police officers didn’t say anything, they didn’t say excuse us we apologize, no one told anybody what was going on," Luther said.

By that time, McDonald said she was getting anxious.

"You could feel that something had happened and people hadn't forgotten about it but nobody was saying a word," McDonald said.

Outside of the theater, word spread that there was a gunman loose at Pullman Square. Huntington Police Chief Skip Holbrook says the theater was never on lock down, but they did lock down the parking garage for about a half hour, stranding drivers.

Chief Holbrook also says they specifically chose not to inform moviegoers about what was going on.

"It was quickly determined that he had exited the facility so there was nobody in imminent danger, so our first concern was of course to make an apprehension with him and secure the crime scene, that is why the decision was made not to interrupt the movies and create confusion and possibly scare people unnecessarily," he said.

But because there was no information, whispers, rumors, even text messages started spreading like a game of telephone, every story different than the next.

"We asked what was going on, it was very hush hush, they acted like they were offended that we asked them anything to begin with so we left the theater," Luther said.

Leaving behind what turned out to be a scary night at the movies that had nothing to do with what was on the screen.

UPDATE @ 12:53am
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Huntington Police Chief Skip Holbrook says the man who robbed the Marquee Cinemas got away with some cash.

Holbrook also released a description of the man: he is white in his 20s or 30s. He was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt at the time of the robbery and had a white cloth or surgical mask across his face. He was wearing a pair of goggles over his eyes.

The man walked up to the concession stand inside the theater around 10:10 p.m. Saturday and demanded cash. He showed some kind of a small barrel rifle or shotgun. Chief Holbrook says it was altered in some way.

One witness who was inside the theater says she was enjoying the movie when all of the sudden she heard a dog barking.

"We thought it was someone's cell phone with a new ring tone or something, but they actually brought in the K-9 swooped around a couple of times," said Xnji Luther.

Chief Holbrook says they are still searching for the suspect.

ORIGINAL STORY
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police in Huntington are on the scene of an armed robbery at the movie theater at Pullman Square.

It happened just before 10:10 p.m. Saturday night.

Police Chief Skip Holbrook tells WSAZ.com it happened at the Marquee Cinemas and Pullman Square is not under lockdown.

A woman who was in the parking garage at Pullman Square at the time of the robbery says it was a tense situation.

"When we came out of our movie theater, they had one movie theater on lockdown and wouldn't let anyone else [in]," said Natalie Hall of Milton.

Chief Holbrook says officers are investigating the crime, and does not believe anyone is in imminent danger.

WSAZ reporter Amanda Goodman is at Pullman Square and reports that a lot of people were there at the time of the robbery.

Does anyone know if this person has been caught yet, or if there are any leads or anything?

Do they actually know the guy who did this... Have they named a suspect??

I hate to say it, but everytime I read something on here or actually watch the news it's about the crime in Huntington, seems to be lots of issues down there. Used to be all you heard about was Charleston's West Side. Hmmmm, wonder how they cleaned up their act. Only time I go to Huntington is to go to Charlie's Harley shop. I figure gotta be some brave people to try to jack a bunch of Harley Riders, so I feel pretty safe there...but only there.

To: MR Obvious...you are right, actually the population has gone down, but the amount of people in huntington has increased.. at least 5 days a week I notice there is a LOT of traffic compared to what it used to be downtown, and the reason being that the town has stuff to do now. I'm happy about the towns direction other than the fact that crime has gone up some. But, if you want economic growth you have to be prepared for the other things that will come with that, the only unfortunate thing is that Huntington (including policemen, firemen, and regular residents) hasn't learned how to deal with crime going up as business does.

This weekend was the 2nd highest box office for Thanksgiving. So I've gotta give this guy some credit. Hitting a theater at Thanksgiving or Christmas is quite the heist.

To "HEY PEOPLE", if you want to move these crackheads in with your family go right ahead. I don't want these people around me or my family. I didn't help them get started using drugs and it sure as heck ain't my job to help them get off drugs. Hang them all in the courthouse yard, I bet that would change the drug use to a positive, as you put it.

Posted by: barry on Dec 1, 2008 at 09:02 PM
TO BLAH"/ : IT IS TRUE THAT WHITE PEOPLE DEAL DRUGS. THE PROBLEM IS, THERE ARE 20 BLACK PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR IT BEFORE 1 WHITE PERSON IS. IM NOT RACIST, ITS JUST A FACT. SO THINK TWICE BEFORE DISRESPECTING WHITE PEOPLE. AND YOU KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT. NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR NO GANGSTER TALK. HAVE A NICE DAY.

My 18 year daughter and some of her friends were attacked as they left the movies at Pullman two years ago. Apparently the boys who committed the crime had brass knuckles and according to numerous witnesses these kids had been terrorizing people around the complex all evening...in plain sight of the security guards. My daughter's boyfriend and another boy were stuck in the head to the point that they were knocked unconscious. This crime was a random case of wilding. The problem with Pullman Square is that it is designed to be a hang out. These type of crimes are going to occur when you have loitering going on to this degree. Security needs to deal with this before someone gets killed.

Posted by: blah. "/ on Dec 1, 2008 at 04:38 PM
i hate people who think black people are the reason there is so much drug dealing and crime down in Huntington. WHITE people do it too?! keep your mouth shut, racist rednecks.

Posted by: HEY PEOPLE on Dec 1, 2008 at 04:05 PM
AS WE ALL KNOW MOST CRIMES ARE RELATED TO DRUGS IN SOME WAY.. PEOPLE ASK ALL THE TIME, WHAT IS GOING ON? THE ONLY WAY PEOPLE CAN COMBAT THE FUTURE DRUG EPIDEMIC IS DRUG EDUCATION TO ALL...I MEAN TO THE USERS AS WELL AS THE NON-USERS. PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT DRUG USERS OR ALCOHOLIC'S CAN HELP. GET EDUCATED ON HOW THE DISEASE WORKS AND SEE HOW YOU CAN BE A PART OF CHANGING THE DRUG USE TO THE POSITIVE. WE ALL NEED TO COME TOGETHER AND TRY TO FIGHT THIS.. THINK POSITIVE DONT GIVE UP ON YOUR COMMUNITY AND LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT. IT CAN GET BETTER IF THE COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER AS A WHOLE...HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL AND A SAFE ONE TO...

Actually Scott, Huntington is losing population, not gaining...

Posted by: Scott on Dec 1, 2008 at 09:29 AM
Okay, has crime went up in Huntington? Yes. You know, the people who are comlpaining now about huntington's crime are the same people who complained about the lack of population, economic growth, and excitement a few years ago. Thats what happens when there is huge growth in a city. Unfortunately yes it is more dangerous, but move to Cincy, or Philadelphia and listen to the news stories. Huntington is not a "there is danger around every corner" place... you just have to be smart about everything. Sure, this is an instance where it's sad that noone could stop this, but 95% of crimes are drug related crimes. Stay away from drugs and neighborhood where drugs are sold and you will be fine in most cases. I go downtown all the time, and have never had an instance where I've questioned living here. The people panicking are the same folks that used to warn their kids: don't go near Marcum Terrace: people get shot down there every hour. It's paranoia based off the media.

Hey guys.. I think maybe you need not be argueing about the Saturday thing..I think WSAZ accidently made a typo. The first {at the top} says "Last updated @ 6pm Saturday". But the middle blog says the crime happened at 10:10pm Saturday.. Just trying to spare a fight...

VERY SIMPLE. I GUESS THEY DONT HAVE SECURITY THERE ANYMORE. IF THEY DID, THE SUSPECT SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTICED. I GUESS IT WAS TO COLD FOR THEM TO BE OUTSIDE... I THINK I SAW THE ROBBER. HE HOPPED IN A WHEELCHAIR AND ROLLED AROUND ASKING FOR CHANGE AND AN EXTRA CIGARETTE.

Gregg: What in the world does OJ or Obama have to do with Huntington and its police? That may be the dumbest thing I have read on the web this week. Congrats to you, as well as your parents and schools that failed you. Chris: Believe it or not, most keyboards, while easily locked into all caps, also allow one to unlock caps. You may also be surprised to learn the contraction for "you are" is "you're". Another citizen failed by his folks and teachers; yea for WV. Pablo, perhaps people would not complain so much if we did not have a chief on TV and in the paper, with his detectives, telling us just how close they are to solving a certain murder (never mind the one that killed the four kids). Now, I know this is not CSI with a tidy one-hour resolution, but good grief let's wrap it up when they claim to know the identity of a murderer that is on the loose. Jesus Christ might judge us for our faith, but taxed citizenry tend to judge their servants by deeds.

How does my statement have anything to do with your reply? The track record speaks for itself. So they arrest a few drug dealers and prostitutes those are crimes where the evidence is not hard to find. I agree with KB and what he said about the detectives. Oh and btw I am a conservative.

It's not the fault of policmen. It is the people who are doing the crimes. If the judges would slap them with harsher sentences then it would make them think twice about what they are doing when it comes to crimes. The policemen are doing their jobs,it is the citizens that make it hard for them to do so.Blaime the judges for being so easy on the criminals.

There is everyone there from cub reporters to the King Felonton trying to make sence of the hanius crime that has paralized The City. But alas, the purity of Pulman Square has been tarnished forever!

I'm in 100% agreement with Mr.Obvious. He is speaking the truth. IF families and friends of these criminal would stop helping by hiding them and minimalizing their actions etc. it would be easier to solve crimes. I also blame the court system for not punishing criminals enough to fit the crime. Ricky Williams was murdered in Milton, now Danny Ray Vaughan is out walking the streets of Milton drunk again along with his cohort and accomplice. What about Chris Chiles our prosecutor? He would rather cut a deal than to actually try a case in court. That really makes it easier on criminals. WV is headed down the gutter fast. I can't wait to move away from here.....maybe Detroit would be safer since the criminals seem to all be in Huntington.

Posted by: Andrea on Nov 30, 2008 at 07:04 PM
This isn't the first armed robbery in the history of armed robberies! Yeah, it's unfortunate, but it's no more important than any other armed robbery that occurs. It just so happens that it's in WV, and everyone knows if it happens in WV, it gets ALL the coverage. WSAZ, you are broadcast in two other states, ya know?!

Posted by: Pablo on Nov 30, 2008 at 06:56 PM
I see the regular "police bashers" are at it again. Perhaps if we'd pay our police a decent salary, fund our police departments and sheriff's office the way they need funded, hire more cops, and generally support our law enforcement people instead of bashing them all the time, we'd have better protection. But some of you will never have anything good to say about law enforcement. No use talking to you; you are already lost. I can only hope your children will respect the police and give them the support they need.

I really dont know what is wrong with are society, my brthr was murdered here locally and the 2 that killed my brother are out on home confinement and have been still waiting trial, there should be nothing for either one of them, the law is way to easy on criminals they know it and that is why there is much more going on a slap on the hand and bck on the streets they go unbelieveable

Posted by: KB on Nov 30, 2008 at 04:29 PM
I'm not saying it's all of the HPD. It's NOT. It's not the Chief IMHO It's our so-called "detectives" who can't find their backsides with both hands as is PROVEN by their record. Not speculation, just FACT! The street cops or most of them ARE doing a good job I believe as is Holbrook. Someone's shut them down since he came into office though 'cause he had 'em going 24/7 busting druggies, moving the bums etc at first. I hope he's finally turned loose again along with his force to get them all again. HOWEVER, as others have said, it's the so-called "judicial officers" - the magistrates and judges who let these thugs go IF they even bother locking them up to begin with. Until THAT changes, it doesn't matter how many arrests the HPD or other local law enforcement agencies make! If a few more of these little drugged out thugs find out that people won't put up with this as evidenced by homeowners recently they'll be less bold We need new magistrates/judges AND laws!

Posted by: Gregg on Nov 30, 2008 at 04:05 PM
For Pullman Patron - I guess you agree, O.J. was innocent just because a cop once uttered the "N" word. The Police are not really the problem, yes some of them need to do a better job (I'm sure you are perfect at you job too) but what about the courts and legal system that let someone go just because they didn't get a hearing within a certain timeframe, or a cop doesn't take the time to read someone their Miranda Rights before returning a punch in self-defense. Our police get treated worse than a baby treats a diaper and they are expected to maintain the dignity and poise of Miss America while nothing is said about how the lowlife scum treats them or the community around them. Mr. Obvious has it right, time to take back the streets. Can't wait to see how things are under President Obama...you folks wanted him so bad...and now we will pay for it. Vote Conservative in 2010/12.

Posted by: lalala on Nov 30, 2008 at 03:54 PM
haven't you guys ever heard "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all?" all of you people posting negative comments about the HPD... do you think you have the cajones to get out there and do their job better? if not, then shut up. :D

Posted by: Anonymous on Nov 30, 2008 at 03:29 PM
Huntington is now Detroit Jr. It used to be a great place to live, but we got out 2 years ago. I loved our home in Westmoreland and lost a ton of money leaving, but I was too afraid to be there alone when my husband was in the hospital. There was a meth lab just 3 blocks from us, the bank on the corner was robbed and a guy from the street behind us robbed Fruths at gunpoint and ran through the yard next door after doing it. For me that was bad enough. I feel bad for the elderly people that were stuck in that neighborhood and couldn't leave.

Posted by: MrObvious on Nov 30, 2008 at 02:53 PM
This stuff happens because Johnny Lowlife is allowed to roam the streets and even when caught gets a slap on the wrist and is re-released. People make excuses for the criminals and never want anyone from THEIR family punished saying things like, "he was such a good boy" or "he was turning his life around" or "he has had a rough life" etc. etc. They should be calling the police and pointing him out in a line up. Until the people take back the streets from the thugs, this will not stop. Families know who the criminals are in their midst. They just circle the wagons and protect them instead of getting them off the streets.

Hey xxxxxxxxx, why do they need to detect if anyone is bringing in a MEDAL? Who cares? Are you afraid someone is going to get whacked by an olympic medal? They could put in a metal detector at the door to detect guns and such, but who cares if someone brings in a MEDAL? Huntington is getting worse by the day. Everyday on the hews, we hear of someone getting shot, stabbed, drug arrest, or a drug deal gone bad. Anyone going into Huntington is taking a big risk of not coming back out of the town in one piece. Bad place to be, especially at night!

Things will get better but before then they will get worst,ALOT WORST!Buy food, water, firewood, gas and a gun.Get lots of ammo because as more home invasions and more robberies happen,it will be hard for the stores that are still in biz to keep in stock.Good luck people!

Some interesting comments here, as for crime - crime happens anywhere you have people that refuse to respect another person. As for the City putting cameras in the consessions area - or the theater in general, that is the responsibility of Marquee and not Huntington. This is a real problem; people expecting Government to do all and be all. If cameras were not installed (and only upper management of Marquee knows for sure) they will be in the coming days. As for the "minister" who said she was not treated in what SHE believed to be the proper manner, the police had a job to do and didn't have time to talk with each and every person. They also couldn't tip-off someone that may have been involved - that could have resulted in a hostage situation or worse. Besides, I noticed your necklace...maybe that is why you dislike the performance of law and order; right prevailing over wrong. Thank You God and Jesus for protecting the public and giving us fine men and women to perform your good works.

This is so scary. You just aren't safe anywhere anymore. Did they have cameras? I hope they catch him. To think he had a gun, right there around all of the patrons...scary. You just never know, do you? Bad times, bad times.

my girlfreind worked there and had a shotgun in her face...no cameras inside the stands.... when the city spent the money on a pullman they bought no cameras inside the theater...whats wrong with this? oh shouldnt they buy a medal detector at the doors and a police officer to make sure safety?or atleast get medal detectors in all stores...all this city thinks were safe when we dont have enough cops around and to many people comin in sellin dope...huntington is like a money jackpot if u have no cameras anyone can get away with robbing...if city can save money for a plaza building to attract outsiders shouldnt cameras be everywhere?and lot of security?

It already IS the hotspot for lowlife thugs. There ought to be a dress code. Hat on straight, pants up. That would get rid of a lot of the little pieces of crap.

Oh my gosh, me and my best friends were going to go down there tonight. then as soon as we found a ride, my best friends grandma called and told us about this!! good thing we didn't go!! (:

i was there.i came out of the movies and i saw people that were working there and they were crying and i asked a lady what happened and she said that there was a gun point robbery.it was very scary the thought that i could have had the gun pointed at me or my friend or her 11 year old brother that was with us.it was very frightening.

Reply to anonymous regarding Pullman Square destined to be future hotspot for crime: Give me a break! That is the problem with the people in this town... all you want to do is down anything that is positive. Crime happens every year at this time. I was accosted at an area Hospital a few years back during this exact week. Does that mean that the hosptials are the "crime spots"? It happens and until everyone stands together to make a difference, it will never change. You need to watch what is going on around you, be careful, and try to help the police in situations such as this instead of being "debbie downer" trying to focus on the worst. Put your efforts into helping instead of sitting around judging the area! Get off your butt and make a difference!!

My 15 year old daughter was there at the movie when this happened- frightening. 'Tis the season...

what time did this happen?

Posted by: Anonymous on Nov 29, 2008 at 11:24 PM
Pullman square is destined to be the future hotspot for drug dealing, lowlife, and a bunch of night clubs. In other words, it'll become the highest concentrated crime area of the city. This is just the beginning.

Its simple NO TEST, NO CHECK. This is not an attempt to violate rights, it is an attempt to enforce the publics right for our money to go to people in government and on welfare who can be TRUSTED.

  • Posted By: omgI am so sick and tired of hearing how public school teachers are indebted to the public for their salary. Many of you are so freakin nosey that if your neighbor stopped too fast, you'd have to get a crane to remove your head from their rear. I am so tired of this drug test line. Teachers deserve to pee in peace and so do you. Why should teachers be forced to have their personal lives paraded all over the news? That is exactly what would happen. If a typical joe blow got fired from the coal mines for drugs, it wouldn't make front page news. A teacher being fired for drugs would. You people expect teachers to be the mother, father, grandparent, clergyman, counselor, as well as the teacher. You don't do anything with your kids but expect the teacher to fix all the problem you create. Some of them probably need drugs by the time they are done raising your spoiled kids who think the world owes them something on a silver platter. Take your own drug test before you get pregnant.
  • Posted By: SophieRe: The student (Hinzman?) being expelled for using foul language after being bullied & beaten on school grounds; you should not have been expelled for expressing your hurt, anger & disgust. You were a victim and did nothing. It is unreasonable to punish the victim - so what if he cussed - I'd cuss too if someone beat the beegeebers out of me. The kid who beat you should receive jail time & counciling; the kid who filmed you & released it on U-Tube should too. It has often been said that television is desensitizing our children so badly they have no empathy for others. This is a prime example. I hope the school board will have enough common sense to clear this victims school record of the incident as he should not have been expelled, and get him counciling also as such a trauma will surly have an effect on a young life.

  • Posted By: GeorgeAs a parent I have no problem being drug tested. I'll stand in line right behind Katy.
  • Posted By: goodorbadI look at it like this-if you dont have anything to hide, shut up and do the test!
  • Posted By: RickI think all teachers should be drug tested, I drive a transit bus for our county and I want the public to know I am drug free and teachers should want everyone to know the same, that their children are not in the care of people on drugs,if you have nothing to hide why object to random testing I know I don't
  • Posted By: TeaI can't even imagine that our teachers have not been drug tested up until this time. Anyone who refuses should be fired. These are our children!!! People take drug test when they don't even work with people, let alone children. These are government jobs and we should have a say in what they have to do.
  • Posted By: AriCheers to Rob-I feel ya!
  • Posted By: joeI have worked for companies all over this nation and have had to take drug tests. Why should teachers be exempt from this practice? It is now common to be randomly tested(and I have been) so what makes a teacher any different than a steel worker. I can say proudly that I passed but I have seen those who didn't. They chose to use drugs and lost their jobs I didn't.
  • Posted By: KatyAs a teacher, I have no problem being randomly drug tested...as long as you agree to drug test the parents who enter the doors of my school as well. Most teachers deal with students who are exposed to/use more drugs and alcohol than any of the teachers. If these students or parents who are using drugs (and are not drug tested) enter our schools, the safety of the teachers and students are at risk. Since children spend more time with them, let's randomly drug test PARENTS, too!!!
  • Posted By: stephenWhy the heavy emphasis ont he damage to property and life Israel is doing . Where was the media uproar for years that Hamas was rocketing Israel irespective of innocent israelis.. Hamas is actualykilling their own citizens by firing rockets from UN schools and residents. Why does UN allow Hamas to use facilities for attacking Israel, then complain when Israel responds to protect their territory and citizens. Israel targets military targets, respons to from whence rockets or gun fire comes. What would we fire at if Huntington was attacked? Why does the media not put bla,e where balame belongs, and give moral support to the aggreived. What would America do if attacked? to whom would we listen? Russia, Saudi Arabia,Iran?.Media get REAL! Who has given Hamas and the Palestinians millions with which they could buy weapons---American taxpayers money!
  • Posted By: RobertAlthough I feel for the employees that lost their positions at Cabell Huntington Hospital, at least more nurses were hired. I recently had a relative in the cardiac unit at Kings Daughters, in Ashland, and I was told that the nursing staff had been cut back and that no overtime was being given. This seems to be a drastic cut in patient care for a facility that spends thousands advertising that they are in the top 5% of cardiac hospitals in the country. I would be willing to wager that the Cleveland Clinic has not cut hours of those giving patient care.
  • Posted By: BoydIf the state's budget is doing so well, why don't we use some of this money to help towns and cities in the state who are in trouble with their budget, or will this just become another pay raise for politicians?
  • Posted By: RobWhy does everyone have to be so into using the term "racist" and have that kind of attitude. I know what my heritage is and who my ancestors were but you want to know what I consider myself? I AM AN AMERICAN! I was born and raised in this country and that's how I feel it should be. Born here, raised here.....then by God you are an American. Not an African American, not an Asian American etc. etc. You are an AMERICAN!
  • Posted By: ChrisTo Ex-Officer: I agree with you 100% about the pay of police dept and the drug testing. I was formerly involved with the BCPD and had multiple ride alongs with the BCSO. I am probably one of their biggest critics due to having watch some of the bad side of the department for a long time. I wish that I could tell everything that I have seen officers do,which would put most of them behind bars or they'll lose their sheild, But retalliation is bad in our area. To the cops that do their job and do it with the best intentions, I proud of you and don't mean any disrespect. To the ones who I personally watch being more currupt then the "badguys" here, your day will be coming.
  • Posted By: PabloTeachers aren't the only ones underpaid. Law enforcement officers are underpaid also. And I'd like to speak about them. For example, I'm sure any parent would sacrifice their live for thier children. And several may give thier live to save their spouse. A few individuals may even do it for a close friend. But, I only know of 3 types of beings who will sacrifice thier lives for complete strangers; indeed even for people who hate them. The first would be our men and women in our armed forces. The second would be our law enforcement officers. And of course, third would be our Savior, Jesus Christ. Others are killed in the line of their employment, but not in order to save a complete stranger. Everytime a cop puts on his/her uniform, they can be a target for anyone upset about something. Even though it doesn't involve the cop personally, that very cop will give his life to save yours when a problem arises. We need to give our cops not only a wage, but a living wage and a great big THANKS.
  • Posted By: CraigIf what I am hearing is correct that Kanawha County teachers accepted a pay raise in return for submitting to drug testing, and then sued successfully so they do not have to be subject to testing, then why shouldn't we the taxpayers demand they return the raise?
  • Posted By: teresaracist lmao i am one cherokee, german, irish, german, and who knows what else TIRED of hearing of racist comments u are either GOOD OR BAD k no skin color needed just evil or NOT
  • Posted By: Ex-OfficerI agree with Robert 100% I worked in law enforcement and loved the job but try to rise a family on less than 10.00 an hour (out of that pay for your own duty gear and gun). I believe that all public safety workers should be drug tested but i also believe that they should be paid for the job that they do. Not many people understand what a public safty worker goes through. Would you put your life on the line for this kind of pay? Remember the saying that you get what you pay for. I see this in several new officers in my area. Don't get me wrong there are still very good officers in law enforcement. Something really needs to be done about the low pay for these jobs.
  • Posted By: GarlandWhat's the difference between teachers and other workers(coal mineers, bus drivers, state employees, etc.)? Teachers aren't any better are they?
  • Posted By: This is not a comment, but I would like comments on it please. What do you think of Poca High School? Racist or not?
  • Posted By: RobertWe the people, through our own self centeredness and apathy, have allowed our teachers and police officials to be some of the most underpaid people in the United States. We are trusting our childrens education and our public safety to the very people that are some of the most underpaid profesions in the U.S.. If I could change this, I would. However, I do believe that these people should be randomly drug tested. I work in the construction industry and I have no problem being drug tested. I have nothing to hide. I also believe that any person who is intrusted with the safety of others should have nothing to hide. This includes plitical officials up to and including the president.
