PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A teenager from eastern Kentucky was shot and killed during the weekend.

It happened Sunday morning near Belfry in Pike County. Police said Ray Rice died after the shooting. It happened at a friend's home. Investigators said it appears Rice and three other teens were getting ready for a hunting trip when Rice was shot, but they're still working to determine exactly what happened to the 16-year-old.

On Monday, students and teachers at Belfry High School were mourning the loss.

This is so horrilbe. Ray was one of my best friends. I went to school with him in elem. & middle. I will miss him so badd=( He was a great person && he belonged to church. He always made me laugh. There was never a time that I didn't have fun when he was around. I gave him a nick-name. I called him "Pinky". Lol it's a long story. But it is really funny. I will always have you in my heart. && Always Love You!!! 12/3/91-11/30/08...={{{
