WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSAZ) -- United States Senator Jay Rockefeller took the oath of office for the fifth time to represent West Virginia in Washington, D.C.
Rockefeller also began a new assignment as chairman of the Committee on Commerce. Rockefeller says his focus will be on reviving the economy.
“We are facing an economic crisis of extraordinary proportions, and our first priority must be to come together to jump-start our economy and help hurting families. We have critical challenges ahead of us, and it’s time to deliver the real solutions people deserve,” Jay Rockefeller said.
Rockefeller was the chairman of the Intelligence Committee and will continue to serve on the panel.
Rockefeller's wife Sharon, son Justin and daughter-in-law Indre joined Senator Rockefeller at the swearing-in ceremony.
