CINCINNATI (AP) - The Kroger Company has a new program that's
appreciated by customers who like saving money but don't like
bothering with coupons.
The Cincinnati-based supermarket chain is part owner of a data
mining firm that allows it to take advantage of the reams of
information collected by its shopper cards. One way is by mailing
shoppers coupons mainly for products they usually buy.
Kroger says as many as half the coupons it sends regular
customers do get used. That compares with the 1 percent to 3
percent of paper coupons that consumers redeem, even in the midst
of the recession.

The employees at our Kroger in Barboursville are always curtious and friendly. I've been using shortcuts.com to put coupons on my Kroger card. There are opportunities to put coupons for generics on there too! It's a great program.
If you could just get the rude union employees to give you credit for the coupons you take the time to cut out. It would also be nice if they had some milk and cola on the shelves between Christmas and New Years. I miss Parkway!
While WalMart may be cheaper on most grocery items, I tend to spend less when I buy groceries at Kroger. When I grocery shop at WallyWorld, I end up spending way too much on items that aren't grocery related. Also, it seems that while WalMart is keeping the shelves stocked, the variety of brands and items isn't what it once was.
