UPDATE @ 4:57pm
By: The Associated Press
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Police say they've stopped searching for the remains of a Jersey City baby thrown out in a hospital's trash.

Police have been looking for the body of Bashere Moyd Jr. since Jan. 2, when a funeral home worker who went to pick it up at Christ Hospital in Jersey City was told that it was missing.

Police say the body was thrown away with the hospital's trash sometime between Dec. 21 and Jan. 2 and may have been hauled by train to near Ashland, Ky.

No evidence of criminal wrongdoing was found by police.

Jersey City police chief Thomas Comey says the search was called off because it was "a Herculean undertaking" with little chance of finding the tiny body.

Hospital officials say the baby was delivered stillborn on Dec. 21. The mother initially said the child was born alive.

Update at 1:30p.m. Thursday
In Jersey City, police and prosecutors are meeting right now, talking about a trash train secured at the Russell rail yard and a possible newborn's body on board.

The contracted train hauls trash from New Jersey to the Big Run Landfill in Boyd County.

Police say a car on the train may hold the remains of a newborn baby's body that was lost at a New Jersey hospital.

The baby's mother fears a possible medical cover-up.

Kentucky State Police tell us any search is on hold while New Jersey officials consider possible criminal charges against the hospital or an employee.

There is also a concern that the corpse was incinerated on the way to Kentucky

Update at 6 p.m. Wednesday
BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A Boyd County landfill is now the focus of a search for a missing newborn baby's body.

There's a fear, however, that the body already has been incinerated.

Kentucky State Police investigators said a train that hauls trash from the East Coast is being held in a CSX rail yard in Greenup County. Meanwhile, back in New Jersey, a heartbroken mother fears a possible hospital cover-up.

Police said if the newborn's body was discarded with the New Jersey trash, it very well may end up at the Big Run Landfill in Coalton.
New Jersey police said the stillborn body of Bashere Moyd Jr. turned up missing last week from Christ Hospital in Jersey City.

The baby's mother said the child was born alive and died 20 minutes later.

New Jersey police and Kentucky State Police are working together. Both agencies believe the baby's body was put in the trash, but there has been no comment on that from the hospital.

Kentucky State Police said detectives have verified that it's the right trash train, but, they say there were some stops along the way that included some burning.

"New Jersey tells us there were some stops for incineration," Kentucky State Police Lt. J.P. Stephens said. "That means there's a possibility the body may not be in this train car."

Stephens said the trash train travels through Pennsylvania, Cleveland and Buffalo on its way to its final destination at Big Run Landfill.

The hospital said the baby's stillborn body was placed in the morgue on Dec. 21, but when funeral home workers came to pick up the body on Jan. 2 it was gone.

On Thursday, police will begin a bag-by-bag examination at the landfill that may involve a haz-mat crew, police from two states and perhaps landfill workers.

The baby's mother has a lawyer, who said the baby's body was tagged with identity and medical information and then mysteriously lost. That's part of what has generated the concern of a possible medical cover-up and lawsuit because New Jersey law doesn't consider a stillborn a person.

We will keep you updated on this developing story.

Original story
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (WSAZ) -- A family in New Jersey is dealing with the devastating loss of their baby in a case that is hitting us close to home.

Kalynn Moore delivered her baby boy, Bashir, on Dec. 21, 2008.

Hospital officials said the baby was stillborn, but the family insists he was born alive.

Now, the hospital says it can’t find the baby’s remains, and he may have been tossed out with the trash.

Police are searching trash dumps in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ashland, Ky., to try to find the baby’s body.

New Jersey police say they’re interested in searching the Big Run Landfill in Boyd County because of a measure approved back in 2007. That measure expanded the landfill, allowing trash from New Jersey to come in on a rail line.

OK listen!!! My mom would figt for me like every other mother would for her child. So if someone threw my child away I would be so pi**** it wouldn't be funny! So people may want to rethink about not looking for the missing child. Still if the child was still born, the parents would want A BODY to be buried. If they would the body at least they would have the body of their child, and could bury it the right way. Cause if you have a funeral without the body well, its like you dont even cared who died!!! That is how I feel about all this!!!

I am appalled at the comments being posted on this story. WSAZ : I thought you screened all comments before posting them. What criteria must be met? Just wondering.

ok for one if this were to happen to me I would sue the hospital and also the police who stoped the search, My child is dead the hospital threw away my child I have no baby to have closeure with, and you say there is no charges with the hospital? WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!!!! OF COURSE THEY NEED TO BE CHARGE, how could you confuse a baby for trash?? the guilty person need to loose their job and face the family and GO STRIGHT TO JAIL!! Lets get real, put your self in this faimlys shoes, what if this happend to your child, what has happend to this world has every one lost there morls, God has been taken out of our schools snd now trying to take God out of every thing we believe in, this world is going to hell in a hand basket. SHAME ON YOU. You will have to live with yourself for the rest of your lifes, I hope this person does not have children.

Outraged mom: Sounds to me like you're the racist one!! This is terrible no matter how you look at it! And I'm pretty sure that EVERYONE is shocked that the search is over! ~And the the police saying that they found "no evidence of criminal wrongdoing" how can there not be "wrongdoing" a baby was trashed and/or missing and there is no "wrongdoing"??? This is one of the most terrible stories I've heard! May God be with the Baby, Mom and the men who decided to call off the search! And also to the one who decided this baby was "trash" I hope you end up in the trash somewhere!!!

Shayla is trying to get the attention she craves. She must be a very sad person to do it at the expense of this mothers loss. If she does indeed have children pray for them. I only hope they do not grow up like her. She must not get much in the way of love....wonder why! This mother lost her child twice, and people (aka monsters) are worried that their tax dollar may go to help find him. Dead or alive he is someones child. To bad we can't use are tax dollars to get some people a heart!

Posted by: Brittany on Jan 10, 2009 at 01:00 PM
Everyone please remember a mother lost her child. That is a enternal pain that last a lifetime. My god be with each and every family memeber to help them through their time of need. And may we soon one day give baby Bashere his final resting place. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Posted by: Outraged Mom on Jan 10, 2009 at 10:07 AM
I can not even imagine what that baby's mom is going through. I am saddened and shocked that the search is over. I wonder if this baby had been white would the search have ended so early. There are hundreds if not thousands of African- Amerucan babies and children who disappear and/ or murdered every year. You see big investigations and searches for white children such as Jonbenet Ramsey and Caylee Anthony but rarely for minority children. How could someone in the hospital throw away a dead baby? My heart breaks for his mother. She will never have peace of mind not knowing where her baby's body is. I pray that she and her baby find justice.

Posted by: ginnie on Jan 10, 2009 at 07:32 AM
ther no reson for thes to happen they need to close thes hospital DOWN the family need to take ever penny they got or could get how would we fill if that was your baby god help the family

Posted by: wouldnt u like to know on Jan 10, 2009 at 01:30 AM
u know u people like to bash people for them expressing their freedom of speech i think that is childish, my heart does go out to the mother but something is awful fishy if the baby was born on dec. 21 and the funeral people didn't even come til jan 1 whats up with that... so quit bashing each other on here for the freedom of speech and just remember the mother in prayer just leave this in God's hands he can handle this a whole lot better than some police officer he knows the whole story and he will have his vingeance on everyone that is involved in this....

Posted by: Amber on Jan 10, 2009 at 12:45 AM
Shayla, I'm sorry that you feel that my comment was childish, but for you to say "If the baby was dead, whats the big deal??" sounds a little ignorant to me. Do you not know that every time a murder happens or someone goes missing, our tax dollars are used. I just can't believe a mother of two children would say something so unbelievably cold-hearted. It sickens me that people like you even have children. Furthermore, how can they accept the fact that their child is dead if they can't even have a funeral for him.

Posted by: connie on Jan 10, 2009 at 12:04 AM
my prayers are with the family and i hope they find the baby may god bless u and be with u and i would make them pay like they have made u suffer good luck

I am outraged at some of the ridiculas comments on here...I mean, I can not believe that people are so heartless...If that was my child, I would go to the ends of the earth to find him, no matter WHOSE tax dollars was being used. This was a Human Being, a precious baby, a gift from God, and to have him thrown out with the daily trash is unspeakable. If that little boy was in fact stillborn, I am sure that he is safe in the arms of our Heavenly Father....God Bless this family during this tragic time.

Posted by: lee on Jan 9, 2009 at 10:28 PM
shayla...are you afraid your foodstamps arent going to be in the mail or something?Helping to find this baby is one of the few things I am glad my tax dollars are being spent on. I only wish they would go toward putting people like YOU in those landfills

Posted by: KathyInOhio on Jan 9, 2009 at 10:07 PM
This a very very sad tragedy. Someone needs to be held responsible. This mother needs answers that she probably will never get. How could anyone throw a poor innocent baby in the trash. Reguardless if The baby were alove or stillborn. The mother and her family know if the baby was alive or not how stupid can this hospital be? If you took your newborn baby and put them in a trash can and got caught you would go to prison. Why isnt there no charges brought on the hospital. I dont care what there laws are . A baby is a human life not a piece of garbage. I believe ohio laws after 5 months you have to have proper services for the infant.. Anyone that could do this to a human life is one sick person .

I can't believe they stopped searching for this baby boy. Just imagine how you would feel to have your baby die then to have someone throw him away like a piece of trash! Poor baby boy may God hold you in his arms no matter where you end up.

Posted by: gilbert on Jan 9, 2009 at 06:41 PM
the baby that is lost is in gods hands. However the person who moved at the hospital needs to confess as where the body is.don't the hospital have cameras on there grounds that shows who went in and out of the morgue?

Posted by: I'M JUST SAYIN' on Jan 9, 2009 at 04:56 PM
WE SHOULD NOT ONLY BE PRAYING FOR THE FAMILY BUT ALSO THE THREE IDIOTS (ALLISON, BILL BOB, AND SHAYLA)WHO HAVE NO HEART.I THINK THAT THE BABY MAY HAVE BEEN ALIVE AND SOMEONE IN THE FACILITY STOLE HIM. EVEN IF THE BABY WAS STILL BORN WHY DIDN'T ANYONE IN THE FACILITY LET THIS MOTHER HOLD HER BABY AND TELL HIM GOOD BYE? I'M PRAYING FOR STRENGTH AND CLOSURE FOR THE FAMILY AND WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING FOR THE THREE STOOGERS(ALLISON, BILL BOB, AND SHAYLA).

WSAZ, Why do people have to submit comments for approval? Based on these comments, you obviously don't have to meet much of a criteria to get a comment on here. Other sites screen their boards, why can't you????

Posted by: i care on Jan 9, 2009 at 04:14 PM
to the ones that are so worried about our tax dollars did u know that when someone dies and none claims the body what happens to them u guessed it your tax dollar pays for the burial they dont throw them in the trash they dont just leave them to rot and u all waNT TO GRIP ABOUT FINDING A BABIES BODY AND IM WILLING TO BET THAT IF THIS POOR MOTHER THREW THIS BABY IN THE TRASH NEW JERSEY WOULD HAVE a diffrent set of rules on this and they would have her locked up AND they would DOWN HERE looking for the body them selfs i think that ksp should go ahead a look for the baby and not wait on new jersey to ss what they want to do

Posted by: To Eric on Jan 9, 2009 at 03:48 PM
Great point! Why does WSAZ not inform us of how trash is being allowed to flow into our state? This upsets me!

Posted by: Tom on Jan 9, 2009 at 02:19 PM
Also,Why not just roll those railcars back to New Jersy, with a couple of KSP troopers riding shotgun-to insure safe shipment.Last time I checked those railroad tracks go both ways.

To Shayla... Here is what you said.... If the baby was dead, whats the big deal?? is this how they use our tax dollars??? searching for a corpse?? The parents need to grow up and accept that there child died. im sorry but i have better things to spend my tax money on, im outraged!!!!!!!!!!!! SO YOU HAVE KIDS???? REALLY... YOU ARE ONE SICK PERSON... IF IT WAS MY CHILD AND YES I HAVE KIDS. THAN THE SEARCH WOULD STILL BE ON. AND YOU BETTER BELIEVE THAT I WOULD SPEND YOUR TAX DOLLARS ON FINDING MY BABY.. SO YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SAY ANYTHING AT ALL. THIS IS SOMEONES CHILD. HOW ABOUT IF IT WAS YOURS?? WOULD YOU STILL SAY THE SAME THING.. NO YOU WOULD NOT AND IF YOU THAN YOU WOULD NOT DESERVE TO BE A PARENT. THIS STORY IS HORRIBLE..

Posted by: Eric on Jan 9, 2009 at 01:10 PM
Why does anyone not see the real problem here? Why is trash being brought in to KY?

Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 9, 2009 at 11:56 AM
YOU CANT MAKE A PARK OUT OF A MEDICAL WASTE LANDFILL. LORD ONLY KNOWS HOW MANY DISEASED NEEDLES AND VIRUS INFECTED SHEETS ARE PUT IN THERE EVERY DAY. DIG A LITTLE DEEPER NICE THOUGHT BUT TO RISKY KIDS PLAY IN THE NASTY DIRT GET CUT OR AND CATCH ANYTHING.

Posted by: Tom on Jan 9, 2009 at 11:18 AM
So sad about the death of a child, but the loss of his body has opened many peoples eyes to the fact that the Boyd Co.is a dumping ground for out of state medical waste.I always wondered what the plastic lined train cars were hauling up tunnel hill. Now we know!Close the land fill, make it a park and name it in memory of Bashere Moyd Jr.

Posted by: ANONYMOUS on Jan 9, 2009 at 10:55 AM
I would much rather have my tax dollars go to finding the baby so he can have a decent burial than to have the government give it to some of the lazy people around here who won't get a job.

Posted by: pepper on Jan 9, 2009 at 10:10 AM
it is a shame they are stopping the search.how long did they look for Caylee Anthony in Florida. This was a human bieng. I just don't undertand how the baby was thrown in the trash, who came to that conclusion. As for Shayla you are a very heartless person I hope to god if you have children nothing ever happens to them. You must be one of the many people on welfare so it is fair for you to take from us but god forbid you want to help someone. I hope you choke on you're big steak that the taxpayers bought you.

Your so self centered....One comment from you was enough....Stop getting thrills from this page!!!!!!!!

Sounds funny to me.Was the baby even really dead in the first place? It does sound like a cover up!I think someone stole that baby and are now going to get away with it!AND to Shayla, what is wrong with you!what if this was your child, mother,or father?Would you mind paying for it then?

Posted by: Kim on Jan 9, 2009 at 08:16 AM
Listen people! Shayla and everone else can speak their mind. We many not like what some have to say but bashing a person for what they say and feel is not right. This is called freedom of speach!

Posted by: cee on Jan 9, 2009 at 07:19 AM
I also would like to see this mother stand up and fight to have the NJ law changed

Posted by: cee on Jan 9, 2009 at 07:15 AM
shayla, it doesnt seem to be the parents who need to grow up. To say such a thing is very immature and just down right rude and heartless. I bet youd want the to look and look if it was your family member.Sympathy to the mother of this baby, may she somehow be able to cope with this. I dont think I could ever get over it.

Posted by: Lisa on Jan 9, 2009 at 07:03 AM
WOW, they stopped the search due to the baby being JUST STILLBORN, OMG this is horrible, stillborn or born alive, does law enforcement not think this mother MAY want to put her babys body to rest, possibly in a family cemetery? I would go nuts NOT knowing where my baby was, to think of it in a landfill? OH my heart breaks.. I have lost a child an i would be out of my mind!!!! I wonder about a cover up hearing it, was it born alive and given away to a 'wealthy' famiy, if this mother had been white, would they care to look further? did the hospital kill this child and covering it up? HOW insane this whole story is!! I truly believe if this had been a wealthy, white family the child would be found- one way or the other.. I cannot belive this- a child in possibly in the trash and no one cares.. WOW, our country is bad in more ways than one.. Yes im white..

Posted by: Max on Jan 9, 2009 at 06:39 AM
How do you "accidentally" throw away a dead baby? I smell something fishy about that hospital and would sue them until hell freezes over.

Posted by: BETEER THINGS TO SPEND OUR TAX DOLLARS ON? on Jan 9, 2009 at 03:58 AM
You mean like bailing out the idiots who are getting richer by that bail out. So I guess you think their fancy vacation houses and trips over seas are more important than finding a baby. Hey, I have an idea. Let's take Shayla, the other heartless posters and the CEOs of those companies and throw them in the dump.

Posted by: Heart on Jan 9, 2009 at 12:54 AM
Well, to say the least, we can put out a warrant on some dope head and have bounty hunters who will travel to the ends of the earth to find someone for money, but we cant volunteer to help look for a infants corpse? And we even can really somewhat norrow a location down where it may be, unlike the baby they looked for in Florida and finally found. Shayla, iam not goin to crucify you like the others, cause iam goin to pray for you instead, whether you only said it to get people's skin crawling or whether your jus ignorant either way we should keep you in our prayers too for being uneducated.

Iam ready to volunteer my time to help look through the landfill for this baby, if only they would conclude the search. This lady does not deserve this what so ever no matter what kinda mom she would or would not make. I hope this mother absolutely "Sues" the socks off this hospital for such ignorant mistake, me and my wife feel as though they are definatley covering something up! The people at the hospital in NJ are idiots saying a still born is not considered human. What do they consider it trash??? Obviously!! They should be put in jail for allowing this to even happen. What if that was them and their child? This really upsets me, and i dont think they should be trying to cover up their mistake, but take responsibility for it. I also think they should be punished!

If the baby was born/died 12/21 and the funeral home called for it 1/2, that's about 13 days (almost two weeks) before anyone apparently cared enough to arrange a burial. That's certainly not standard or normal. This needs to be explained.

What upsets me is that a baby is not considered a life at any stage of its development according to stupid laws. A baby is a life from the time it is created. No matter what stage of development it is in when it is born, or if it is alive or stillborn-it is NEVER trash! And people crying about the trash train-wah!! God have mercy on this undeserving world!

I had a son that was stillborn at 39 1/2 weeks. I know how hard it is losing a child knowing you will never hold him, hear him cry, or any of his firsts. I can't imagine what these parents are going through though, we got to have our son a memorial service, it helped with some closure. Its still very hard knowing he is not with us. To Shayla: How could you say something so heartless and cruel. What if this was your child, would you want them to keep searching? I know I would, I wouldn't stop. He is her baby, he was alive in her womb and she says outside, something happened and the hospital is trying to cover it up. I hope and pray they change their minds and search for the baby so the parents can lay him to rest. Shayla, I hope nothing like this ever happens to you, its the worst pain you could ever feel. No parent should lose their child, especially their baby. I am so sorry for the familys loss. Take comfort in knowing, he is in Heaven with all the other little angels.

Proud Shayla. I feel sorry for your children. They are probably messed up mentally to have a mother like you. I wish someone would kick your face in for you. You are no mother. You are the one who needs to be in that landfill, not that seet little innocent baby boy. That also goes for I believe it was allison. May God bless the family of this child, and also Shayla's children because they are going to need it.

SHAYLA!!!! I'm sorry for your kids. You cannot be a good mother with that cold and cruel attitud. I hope your children do NOT read your comments. Shame on you!!!!

SOME OF YOU NEED TO THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE OR IF YOU CAN'T SAY SOMETHING GOOD THEN DON'T BOTHER READING THE STORY. I MEAN THIS WAS HER CHILD SHE CARRIED IT FOR 9 MONTHS IT WAS LIVING INSIDE OF HER SHE COULD FEEL IT AND THEN ITS GONE.....AND THE WAY IT IS GONE MAKES IT EVEN WORSE. I HOPE THEY FIGURE OUT WHO DID THIS AND I HOPE THEY DO NOT GET A SLAP ON THE WRIST BECAUSE OF THE LAWS IN NJ, THAT WOULD BE A SHAME AND WELL JUST PLAIN HORRIBLE.

Posted by: Angela on Jan 8, 2009 at 06:55 PM
I've read the story and the comments on here..wow, what heartless people come out of the back hollers to leave comments about wasting their tax dollars! Let me guess, you're on welfare or going to the meth clinic right?? What mother could say what you said?? My heart and prayers go out to this family, closure will never be brought to them. I'm a mother of 2 and so help me I would use any means necessary to find an innocent child. May God help this family find some kind of peace and may God help the ones on here who leave stupid heartless comments..if you are a mother I feel so sorry for you children, put yourself in others shoes..then ask what would you do for your child, then I bet you'd be willing to use those precious tax dollars..right! Amazes me how ruthless and evil some people are..great role models!

Hey, you people in Boyd County need to put a stop to the trash trains. It is hard to tell what type of waste is being hauled into your county. Apparently, the state of New Jersey doesn't want the trash. This is a serious issue for health matters.

Posted by: Jeanie on Jan 8, 2009 at 06:19 PM
I cannot imagine what these parents must be going through. This is a baby we're talking about. To just abandon any chance of finding the body to me is unthinkable. No amount of effort should be considered 'herculean' regardless of time or personnel needed. Better to know that the body was incinerated en route than to have the constant thought of him decaying in a distant landfill.

Posted by: PS on Jan 8, 2009 at 06:17 PM
SHAYLA AND BILL BOB IF THIS WAS YOUR BABY WOULD YO WANT TO JUST MOVE ON AND NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED? THINK ABOUT THAT!!!!! THE NOT KNOWING WHAT HAPPENED WOULD BE WORST THEN KNOWING. HOW SAD FOR THE MOM AND HOW SAD THAT PEOPLE LIKE SHAYLA AND BILL BOB THAT DOESN'T HAVE A HEART.

What kind of person allows trash to be brought in from other states?

Posted by: Anon. on Jan 8, 2009 at 05:55 PM
In a way, I agree w/ Shayla and a few others. If there is evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that the baby was in fact still-born and is noted as such in the medical record, then this case is closed. Even if NJ law says a still born infant is not considered "human" then so be it. That's THEIR law. Do I agree with it? NO. I'm sure there is a lot of bio-trash that gets inadvertently discarded when it wasn't supposed to (tissue samples, lab specimens, etc) It all depends on how authorities in NJ interpret their own law.

Posted by: Michelle on Jan 8, 2009 at 05:48 PM
Born alive or not, that was her BABY. This is disgraceful and beyond a casual mistake. My child died soon after birth and I CANNOT imagine not having gotten to lay her to rest where I could go and honor her memory and short life. There is no payment in dollars that is going to make this right...there is nothing that is going to make this right. How sad that this young mother had to say good-bye and then this travesty happen to her baby. You don't just LOSE a body...there is protocol to be followed when handling. Lets see if they mess up the billing for delivery so grossly as they messed up handling this child. Bet they don't..in fact, I bet they double the allowed amount by her insurance. Ask me how I know. This is pathetic. God Bless this woman, my prayers go out to her and others like her who have lost their baby regardless if they were born alive or already having passed on.

I don't reckon that it's right to be transporting your trash from place to place. They ought to keep their trash there, so that in the event of some bollocks like this, they can find a body and ultimately find whoever is responsible, and hang 'em in the streets. How awful...

Posted by: SUE on Jan 8, 2009 at 05:37 PM

Posted by: Jessica on Jan 8, 2009 at 05:22 PM
Comments on here have been ridiculous! A mother lost her baby. There's nothing in the world that can compare to that. Whether he was alive or not at birth, she'll never have closure if they never find his body. She insists that he was alive, maybe he is, and someone took him. She'll never know for sure what happened to her baby until his body is found, alive or dead. This whole story is so bizarre! That hospital should be closed down! What kind of person puts a baby in the trash?!!

This is such a heartbreaking story, I can not imagine how this poor family must be feeling! You should be careful what you say Shayla...it may come back to haunt you later! Posted by: Ashley...To Shayla on Jan 8, 2009 at 03:22 PM
Shayla the only thing you should be outraged about is how incredibly ignorant you are. Have you ever heard of anyone just tossing a deceased body in the trash. I don't even think that is legal. I am really sitting here dumbfounded by what you said. I'll give my tax dollars any day to help with this search. Poor baby desrves better than this. I'm reaaly sitting here p*ssed about what you have said.

shame on you. you must not have kids yourself, or you are extremely COLD hearted. A HUMAN BABY died, and got THROWN out in the GARBAGE. how can you say YOU are outraged? you are a very sad individual. A new mother has lost her child in a LANDFILL and you are worried about your tax dollars. It wasnt some fish that gets flushed, a bird that gets thrown out, it was a HUMAN BABY. this mother and father have to live with the fact that their baby's body was put in a garbage pile, not be buried as most people need for closure. And for you to tell the parents they should grow up? just how heartless are you? did your parents not love you enough to make you want to say such harsh things? WOW. you seriously need therapy. im so sorry for the loss of this baby. and i hope the parents of the baby can find some closure. as for shayla, i pray that she finds a decent psychotherapist that can help her through her inability to love and have empathy.

Posted by: PS on Jan 8, 2009 at 11:05 AM
THIS IS SO SAD BUT MY QUESTION IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT. WHEN THE LANDFILL WAS GOING IN IT WAS SAID LOCAL TRASH ONLY AND NO HAZ. WASTE SO NOW WE HAVE TRASH AND HAZ. WASTE FROM OTHER PLACES?

I cannot believe wsaz would even allow such a comment from SHAYLA! If this lady has no more compassion that than why is she wasting her time typing stupid comments? You know what I lost a baby... he was stillborn And ALLISON omg this is the saddest story i ever heard. Cant you imagine how this womans heart is aching... not only beacuse her baby boy was born sleeping but now they cant find his body. this poor woman needs her closure. That is sick that WSAZ would even post comments from these immature GIRLS! I will also be praying for you and hope to God nothing like this ever happens to you or anyone in your family. You dont know how you would feel or what you would do until you've been there. Heartless!!!!

Shayla are you even a parent for that matter? I dont believe you could be . Regaurdless of the state the infant was in when the body went missing the woman in this story still carried that baby inside of her body, she named the baby, im sure she spoke to the bay,she delivered the baby, she loved the baby! Lets use you analogy in another situation, are your parents deceased or someone that you are close to? If so why have a funeral thats not them anymore, merely through them in the garbage and have them end up in a landfill! That is exactly how this mother is feeling right now , we all need to pray and show compassion.

My prayers go out to these poor people, and I hope they do find the child. But here is my next thought... NJ throws away dead bodies? And we except there trash? So then there have be many dead bodies sent here from NJ and put in our landfill? Dumps are for trash, not dead bodies. I think the Landfill should reconcider allowing dead bodies from NJ to be brought to Ashland.

This is to Shayla, You are a heartless person this was some poor womans baby that died, how can you say something so mean shame on you you must not have kids or at least I hope you don't because you possibly can't love them. Anyway may GOD be with this poor lady I am heartbroken for her, can't even begin to imagine how she feels. I hope they find this baby it would be nice if they find it alive it sounds like someone my have wanted a baby and stole it, stuff like this has happened before. Either way the mother and family needs a baby in their arms so they can have closure or a new baby to enjoy. As for everyone else who cares about garbage right now and tax dollars a baby is out there somewhere dead or alive and needs to be found. So GOD BlESS this poor little baby boy and his mommy and family. And for Shayla your are the one who needs to grow up and get a heart my GOD be with you and God help you because you are one mean evil person to say something like you have. A baby isn't garbage

Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 8, 2009 at 05:11 AM
Shayla, Have you ever lost a child? You don't know what these parents are going through! It's not just a dead baby, it is a person too! The big deal is, that the baby was much wanted by the parents. I for 1 don't care to use my tax dollars, when wrong has been done! You actually need to be the one to grow up! How old are you anyways. It is hard for anyone to accept that their child has passed away. I hope you never have to experience the heartache and loss of a child. My prayers are with the parents and family of Baby Bashir. It seems like that maybe the baby was still alive and was taken or the possiblity that it passed away due to the neglect the hospitals tend to have. Either way I hope they find this BABY and the parents can have a proper burial for him. I lost a still born baby boy at Cabell Huntington and had to fight to get his remains so i could bury him. I signed papers for autopsy, i didn't sign papers so they could have him. Think before you speak!!!!

Shayla you have to be the coldest person ever to leave on comment. This poor infant does deserve a proper burial. Guess you didn't know that every soldier kill in combat we, rightfully so, hunt until we find the remains and send them home to their families to be put to rest. I guess research and development on how to stop pot holes is a more useful way to spend the money, huh!?

First of all, my heart and prayers go out to this family. Secondly, I agree with others, we do not have all the facts here. There is a criminal investigation going on I almost guarantee it. We may never know all the facts. From what I read it doesn't sound like the family is claiming kidnapping but possibly a negligent death. And finally to Shayla, obviously you are not a mother. As a mother to 5 and a grandmother to 1 I feel sorry for you. Every human life is precious. How would you like it if you were possibly murdered or had died under suspicious circumstances and your "loved ones" said "Oh well, she's dead. Who cares why or how, just dump her in the garbage and everyone forget about her."?

Posted by: to: shayla on Jan 7, 2009 at 11:25 PM
That is the most unbelievable thing I have ever heard. You must not have children or value life. This precious baby deserved a decent burial. Shame on you. I will say a prayer for you tonight.

They were able to get this Trash Train approved by keeping it hush hush until it was a done deal. They knew better than to ask the people what they thought of it. Have you been over by Princeland and smelled how bad it smells over there? It is horrible, almost all the time. In the summer, it is nauseating. The citizens of Boyd County need to stand up and demand that these trains are stopped. They can keep their garbage in NJ and stop using us for a wastebasket.

Posted by: Allie on Jan 7, 2009 at 10:54 PM
I know this is going to sound horrible, if this wasn't a cover up story, thank goodness the baby passed on before being thrown in the trash. I can't imagine why someone would do this, why not just let the mother have her child?

Posted by: shayla m on Jan 7, 2009 at 10:52 PM

I hope and pray that the mother(parents)not only have a lawyer, but has someone helping her emotionally. I have a question..don't most hospitals have some type of cameras? Come on...what's going on here...was this child still alive and someone took it home? Who was on duty, near the baby,etc...if someone threw this child away ,they need some serious help and I doubt they have a good nights sleep from now on......

Way to strange...Sounds from this story they accidently killed this child and threw it away in hopes of covering it up....but than again thats only one thing the other needs more facts such as did the mother see the dead body or did they just say the baby died? Then maybe it is still alive and its a cover up like the other comment posted at 8:32 by Shelli...either way this is nuts!

I feel the same way as most of you, but we must remember that the police may be withholding the facts pending a criminal investigation. The media is only telling us what they have to tell us, and even then they may have skewed it to create something more interesting, although I don;t see how you can. the fact remains that we don't know all of the circumstances and evidence and so we should withhold judgment until such items are released.

IF, this baby was stillborn and just tossed in the garbage, how terrible. What else has this hospitel put in the trash? There is a thing called a "Biohazard container" As bad as it sounds, that is where healthcare professionals are to put medical waste. By no means was this baby a waste. My personal opinion is that this baby boy was born alive, and someone took him. Check into it.

Posted by: me on Jan 7, 2009 at 06:54 PM
Even if the baby was stillborn, did the hospital not think about the parents wanting to have funeral or something for this child ? Don't understand the trash thing. Something is surely missing from this story.

Posted by: Another Ashland resident on Jan 7, 2009 at 06:52 PM
I don't understand why we have to get other states trash. Do they not have somewhere closer to NJ to put their trash? We generate enough crap here and really don't need to deal with others. I hope they find the child, I just hope it's not here.

I hope the blessed baby boy's remains find their way back to its family for proper burial. But to the hospital words cannot describe what you have let happen. I hope your irresponsible, neglegent so called practice get what it deserves!!! I hope what has happened haunts you. There is no excuse for such behavior. I read about this yesterday on CNN's website - that story said the baby's body was taken to the morgue but that when the funeral home came for it, they couldn't find it and a subsequent investigation determined it must have been swept up with the trash. There's also some dispute because the laws in New Jersey would only consider the child a "person" if it were born alive, not stillborn. Apparently the penalties for defiling the remains of a "person" are harsher than those of a stillborn child who is not a "person."

This is so strange how can someone lose something so precious as a child, it really looks as if thee hospital was just being careless. i along with others think that the hospital should have to pay even if they find the remains, because that was their fault and now the family has to pay for it. I am a mother myself and if this ever happened to me or someone i knew i would be very upset and world file a lawsuit. this was not just a mistake, there are no words to describe what this was.

Posted by: Shannon on Jan 7, 2009 at 10:51 AM
I am just sickened by this story! This poor family lost their precious baby and some IDIOTS at the hospital just threw the baby out??? That is just heartless and cruel. This family is in my thoughts and prayers. This type of careless act should not happen in this day and time. I hope that an appropriate lawsuit is filed at this medical facility. The staff there is obviously incapable of providing adequate and appropriate care for its patients. Deceased persons should NEVER be thrown out in the trash! This poor family lost their child! I am just at a loss.

Posted by: Stef on Jan 7, 2009 at 10:43 AM
I don't understand how this could happen. After the family said their goodbyes, shouldn't the body have gone to the morgue until it was picked up by the funeral home? I am sooooo sorry for this family. Such a horrible tragedy.

Posted by: Proud Mom of 2 on Jan 7, 2009 at 10:41 AM
OMG I cant not even believe this story!! This is horrible as a Mother of 2 I could not even Imagine what the family is going through...How can you just throw a baby in the trash? I think there is probably more to this story this is unthinkable! The family is in my thoughts & prayers!

My heart is breaking for this family, may god be with them at their hour of need. I dont live to far from this "landfill" and its created nothing but nightmares since it opened. I hope the hospital is sued to the max and those responsible be thrown in a trash dumpster or made to ride the train to here for a few days, but this is to weird have they thought that maybe if the baby was born alive that maybe it was actually given to some one else, it can happen it has happened, I would be looking at all prospects in this reguardless of outcome I pray they find this baby or its body...

Posted by: jim on Jan 7, 2009 at 10:18 AM
what hospital was the baby born at?

Posted by: Questions? on Jan 7, 2009 at 10:13 AM
Could it be a possability that someone stole this newborn? It sounds awful, but then at least there would be hope of finding the child alive.

Posted by: mike on Jan 7, 2009 at 10:08 AM
This is unreal, how do you loose a babys body? Is this normall to toss a body out in the trash and hope nobody cares? I dont really know what to think. God be with this family.

Posted by: anon on Jan 7, 2009 at 09:59 AM
what if the baby wasn't stillborn, but actually kidnapped or sold by someone in the hospital. A nurse maybe. That sound more like what happened than throwing it in the trash. I would be investigating each and every person at that hospital. This is so sad. I will be praying for your family.

Posted by: Heather on Jan 7, 2009 at 09:58 AM
Sounds odd to me... "Hospital officials said the baby was stillborn, but the family insists he was born alive." Sounds like something out of a movie... A mother would know.. I'd be checking to make sure they didn't still her baby... My prayers go out to her and her family.

Posted by: Shannon on Jan 7, 2009 at 09:43 AM
My mother gave birth at 20 weeks to a premature baby and the hospital in Maryland let her hold him and even had a priest called in to baptize the baby and we had a funeral for him. I cannot even fathom "throwing away" a baby whether still born or not. Amazing what this world is coming to.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 7, 2009 at 09:40 AM
This is terrible. It sounds kind of "iffie" though. I'm sure the police are very good at their jobs and have probably ruled this out, but it sounds like someone might have taken the child. THe parents say he or she wasnt still born (and yes, I know you can tell yourself lots of things until you believe them) and I'm sure ALL of the hospital staff couldnt have been so poor at their jobs that NO ONE took care of the child...it just seems strange...

Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 7, 2009 at 09:39 AM
I think it all sounds a little fishy. They need to check for all newborns and do a DNA test. A childs remains just don't disappear.

Posted by: Anon on Jan 7, 2009 at 09:37 AM
If the parents don't believe the baby was dead, and there was no body, could it be that the baby WASN'T dead???

Posted by: Me on Jan 7, 2009 at 09:28 AM
It is silly, how can you not find a body? Someone (dr) had to pronounce death, plus they just can't throw it to the trash. Better start checking staff and videos and see who took the baby. Sounds more like someone stole it than a death......

Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 7, 2009 at 09:09 AM
OMG. My prayers are with this family. If their is EVER a reason to SUE... This would be it.! I pray they find the answers they are looking for.

Posted by: anon on Jan 7, 2009 at 09:03 AM
IS IT POSSIBLE SOMEONE SOLD OR STOLE THE BABY AND THIS IS JUST A COVER UP? THE PARENTS WOULD KNOW IF THEIR BABY WAS BORN ALIVE, THE WHOLE THING IS JUST NOT RIGHT.I CAN'T IMAGINE ANYTHING COULD BE FOUND, THE PROCESSES GARBAGE GO THROUGH.

Posted by: unknown on Jan 7, 2009 at 09:00 AM
I just would like to know what kind of hospital would throw the remains of any human out in the trash if it was old enough to tell what it was the family would proably want to have a grave site for it but sounds like someone has stolen a baby I also think that, that hospital should be checked out if they just throw babies in the trash what else have they thrown out.

Posted by: gvn on Jan 7, 2009 at 08:47 AM
This cant be resolved but the parents , can tag the hospital for a huge court settlement . I bet they already got a lawyer and the papers are ready to file .The hospital's risk management guy should have had this possibility in mind before it happened , now a pore management practice will take the profit out of their non-profit operation .I guess you could call it redistribution of wealth .

Posted by: Debbie on Jan 7, 2009 at 08:42 AM
Gosh this is like a lifetime movie special where someone hatches a plot to steal a baby for money from an adoptive family and tries to convince the birth mother the baby died. Something is very fishy about all this, who pronounced the baby and signed the certificate? There are too many procedures in place to prevent this, someone's head should roll over this.

Posted by: Lydia on Jan 7, 2009 at 08:33 AM
Don't get me wrong, I am devastated for the family. I fell deeply for the family and agree that the hospital, doctors and nurses should be held responsible; but what do you expect. We live in a day when abortion is routinely done and all those babies are thrown in the trash. If this staff was used to doing abortions than why do you expect it to treat one dead baby any different that another dead baby.

Posted by: Chris on Jan 7, 2009 at 08:28 AM
How can you trow a baby away? Even if the baby isnt alive how does it get thrown away like its trash? I hope this hospital gets sued and shut down!!

Posted by: Lynne(To RN) on Jan 7, 2009 at 07:28 AM
RN...Yesterday, I read the story on FoxNews. The hospital staff did clean the baby up, dressed it and gave it to the mother to hold, then took the baby to the morgue to await the funeral home for pick up. It was the funeral home staff that brought it to the hospitals attention that they were unable to locate the baby's body when they arrived to pick it up. This is si sad...doesn't leave any chance for closure for the family. I can't believe that a hospital would throw baby's bodies in the trash...whether they are considered a body or not. According to NJ, still borns are not considered "human". FoxNews story was pretty good. I would think they would have to be "dsiposed of" at least through a funeral home by cremation if the family wasn't able to provide services for the baby. My prayers go out to this family...

Posted by: Samantha on Jan 7, 2009 at 07:03 AM
I lost my first son, and this is unreal to me. My son was sent to the funeral home just like anyone who would pass away in the hospital. These parents should own that hopital. My prayers are with them. I hope they find out what happened and how/why.

Posted by: debbie on Jan 7, 2009 at 06:56 AM
why is the family insisting the baby was born alive and the hospital saying he was stillborn? then lose the body?! sounds suspicious to me! my prayers go out to this family. may god comfort them.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 7, 2009 at 06:32 AM

Loose a baby's body?...how can this happen?...Throwed out in the trash?...Even if the baby was still born....do they just put it in the trash?...Shut this hospital down , because evidently they dont know how to run one....My prayers are with the family...something is seriously not right here...I wouldnt rest until i found out whats going on....this is a travesty!

Posted by: RN on Jan 7, 2009 at 04:53 AM
I am not sure how this can happen. Usually when a child is stillborn you clean them up and give the family the option of holding them and taking pictures. Also the family can bury the baby, in that case the body would go to the funeral home. The whole story sounds very bizarre.

Posted by: Utterly SHOCKED on Jan 7, 2009 at 03:46 AM
WOW.. Just WOW.. I hope and pray that they find that baby and that God gives the family the strength to endure these days ahead.. OH WOW.. I'm so so soooo sorry.

I seriously got chills reading this story. That is beyond heart breaking and makes me really sad. I hope they find the baby's body and the hospital has to pay for their horrible, careless mistake! Not like it will ease the pain that the family is suffering, but the hospital should have NEVER allowed something like that to happen (can't really say "oops, my mistake" to something like that because that is really suspicious... how do you just accidentally throw a precious child away).

Posted by: Rachel on Jan 7, 2009 at 02:24 AM
regardless if the child was stillborn the parents have rights to do with their child however they please. what gave the hospital the right to throw that baby out like trash?? how awful

  • Posted By: AnonymousMy comment is about the WV Unemployment office. The people who work there must be the most incompetent baffoons imaginable because it seems that they can never get anything right. It is bad enough that you have to wait in line for hours with all the other people who were unfortunate enough to lose their jobs due to the bad economy but when you finally get to see someone, they always manage to completely mess things up. As if to add insult to injury, they also seem to take great pleasure in denying someone because of their mistake which forces you to appeal their "decision" and go through it all over again. These people are far worse than your typical state employee, they are morons.
  • Posted By: EveHas anyone had people soliciting at their homes for "Cabell County schools"? Had a female come to the house this morning (on the July 4 holiday) from "University of Georgia" on behalf of Cabell County to talk to local parents. She had no list of student names and made the assumption that we had kids by the toys/bikes in our yard. She had a notebook with "local parents" names that she had talked with, but I didn't recognize any of the names. She asked about the neighborhood and if any other kids lived there. I didn't disclose any info except that lots of kids live in the area. Didn't let her in the house. Just suspicious because of the holiday and local home robberies. Called Huntington Police to inform them. Wanted to post to get more info out to other families. Have a safe holiday and if anyone else has similar info, please call the Huntington Police Dept. @ 696-4470.

  • Posted By: bonnOne more thing and I really will stop. Why does the weather cycle? I do not know everything-no one does. But everything has its purpose. Sometimes, more cold is called for. If we don't have hard winters snakes and mosquitoes thrive, for one. Mosquitoes are a large part of fish diet. And snakes keep rodents in check. But too much cold hurts other things that call for warmer temps. Quail is one thing that comes to mind that suffer in the frigid temps. We just don't understand all of the workings of these things. But it is all to keep a balance-many times in things we ourselves have killed off, such as bear and wolves. Even if we don't like some species, they all serve a purpose and nature helps keep that balance. Our world really was wonderfully made. With all the changes in temperature, we still have seasons. You can know it will be cold in winter and hot in summer. The excesses serve a purpose we sometimes can not see. Strive to learn of all of her wonders, not follow blindly.

We each were given a mind to think with. Question everything before taking it as it appears. And be sure and thank a veteran for the freedom we celebrate this weekend. Too many have died to protect it to just give it up willingly. And whether or not you are religious, lets try to love one another. Love can fix so many things! Try to keep our world clean, But that doesn't have to bankrupt us. We can all do our part in whatever ways we can. The old saying "Give a hoot, don't pollute" should not have gone out of style. This means that homeowners, for example, could be required to retrofit their homes to meet federal “green” guidelines in order to sell their homes, if the cap-and-trade bill becomes law. The bill, which now goes to the Senate, directs the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to develop and implement a national policy for residential and commercial buildings. The purpose of such a strategy – known as the Retrofit for Energy and Environmental Performance (REEP) – would be to “facilitate” the retrofitting of existing buildings nationwide. In other words all your appliances-heating-stove -fridge-windows-would have to meet green standards before we sell SOCAILISM HAS ARRIVED YESWEDID

Mindless devotion to whatever is contrary to common sense and whatever theory is being passed around. Most families have both parents working, some two jobs, just to make it now. Soon you won't even be able to work enough to carry your family, the government and the ones who won't work. Then you will be disposable and they will start killing you off because you can't give them enough money. But you will blindly keep following. One group of scientists call for us to spread soot on all the snow up north to absorb heat to counter the coming ice age. Another (more popular) group calls for painting our roofs white to reflect the heat that is melting our ice caps. Which group is right? Neither. Our earth is doing exactly as it has been doing all along. Cycling naturally. Did it plan it all on its own? Hardly. But no one wants to hear that. It reminds me of "chicken little" yelling "the sky is falling". Only this is not so funny-this is control. And what is even sadder is-people seem to WANT to be controlled. This earth will continue as always until one preplanned day it all comes to a screeching halt. Then a new earth will be created. I will not be caught off guard. I read The Book. I know where I will be. Do you? And do you really enjoy giving those schemers your money that much? I hope one day...
  • Posted By: KeithA few questions for the Yell audience: Does anyone remember when Obama gave that interview in SanFran Cisco and said that he would not prevent the construction of a coal fired plant, but his policies would bankrupt anybody that tried to build one? That policy was cap and trade. I heard O say that energy prices, under his administration, would "necessairly skyrocket." Is this the hope and change you guys voted for? How will you afford your electric and gas service under this man who cares so much for the poor? Obama said once that he was not bothered that the price of gas had risen so high, just that it happened so fast. How does everyone feel about the gas price? Obama raked John Pablo McCain over the coals for suggesting health care benefits be taxed as income, now he is going to do the same thing to pay for "free" care to illegal aliens, deadbeats, etc...but union workers will be exempt from this tax. How does that make you feel if you work for a living and are not in a union? H&C
  • Posted By: AmyHteik, "all is well" because people like us! Give me a break. If all were well, we would not have the largest unemployment rate in 26 years. The stimulus package would prevent it from going above 8%, remember? How is Iran not our business but Honduras is? The people of Honduras have a Constitution very similar to ours and we should support the people not an extremist who is trying to take over their country. The 22nd Amendment does a great service for our nation. IF it would be reversed that would be O.K too. At the rate Obama is going W. could beat him in 2012. At least I would sleep better at night.
  • Posted By: Just MeWow Jane Doe, give it a rest. I really don't think God would be please with this going on and on and on...healthy banter is fine, but this is not healthy banter. Christians absolutely can and do get angry, it's what they do with that anger that counts. It doesn't matter where, when, or even IF you go to church...what matters is that you have accepted Christ into your heart and asked for forgiveness of your sins. God didn't save us to judge others, he saved us to lead others to him. I've said many times...what if the person you just yelled at, told off, or whatever showed up at your church on Sunday? Would you be proud of your behavior?
  • Posted By: SophieRoane County is a beautiful place. The country roads snake along past fields, farms and old homes we wish could talk. Looneyville is indeed named after the Looney family, so is Gandeeville. My father was from Roane Co. & graduated from Walton High School in the 40's. He told me tales of his school days, friends, boyish pranks, old cars and the fun they had at the 4-H camp. Spencer was a big place to them. Roane Co. gave us many war veterans and kept distant family & friends together with the annual "Roane County Reunion". I don't even know if they still have it, but we used to go. I remember seeing Sen. Robert Byrd play his fiddle there. The Black Walnut Festival in October(?) is a good time to visit Spencer. They usually have a parade, arts & crafts and a museum. You can enjoy a slice of Americana, along with a slice of homemade pie.

Cause you obviously have none! You have all this free time on your hands! Why don't you spend this free time helping others instead of puttin them down! You know..WSAZ has job postings...Maybe you could find one on there!!!!I'm not a negative person. Maybe I'm just like everyone else that has a job and three kids and a lot of things to do! I get stressed out, I know that goes way over your head,You don't get stressed. But because you go to church doesn't mean you can't get angry about stuff!!LOL My father-in-law is a Deacon at my church and even he has a temper!! Look out craveontruth! Looks like RoaneCo. has found someone else to pick on!Good Luck!! Have a perfect day ( I know you will)!!
  • Posted By: RoaneCo.Yes Craveontruth, there is a place named Looneyville.(no Jane Doe that isn't where I live) It is on Rt.36, nothing there but the Looneyville Post Office, and I am not joking. There is also a Lefthand Post Office on Rt.36, always wondered why there wasn't a Righthand also. Our County seat is located in Spencer, (middle of nowhere) which for years was only known for its State Mental Institution. (no Jane Doe this isn't my Alma mater) It was closed years ago and now a Wal-Mart is on that location. I guess the only other thing to speak of would be the Black Walnut Festival which is held in Spencer every October.
  • Posted By: bonn, the simpletonDon't we have a smart earth? She formed herself from a dust cloud, they say and planted herself just the right distance from the sun to support the life she would create. She also filled her insides with molten heat to maintain the right temps and if that builds too much she decides to blow some out holes (volcanoes) to keep from exploding. She makes her own rain, knowing whether she needs a gentle soaking rain for her plants, or a gully washer to cleanse the filth. It pours down the mountains, into the rivers and out into the ocean which she just happened to fill with salt (her natural sanitizer). And she knows if she doesn't have ice she will over heat, but too much and she will freeze, killing her life she so carefully made. So she melts some, then as it heats up, she freezes more. All just coincidental happenings? She is brilliant! But not so smart as the humans who are making a fortune controlling the other dumb humans by convincing them THEY are causing her to do these things!!!

  • Posted By: HteikWell it is nice to see that the war in Iraq is ending under President Obama. Who would have thought, it seems the world is backwards right now, huh? Obama gets elected, the world understands our good will, and all is well. Just like history, Republicans start wars, Democrats finish them. Hate to say we told you so but we told you so, I just get fuzzy inside thinking about all the people that love us now that hated us because of that old Bush. Another thing too, leave this Iran thing alone, that is none of our business. I dont recall anybody from Iran coming over here to help us in 1776 so why should we stick our nose in their business? When you get a strong leader like in Honduras, a good strong leader with a military background, everybody goes nuts because the guy takes things over well I support him and Obama. In fact, some people are so needed we better start now to get rid of the 22nd Amendment, it was only put in by jealous radical extremist crazy Republicans to hurt FDR.

Oh and Kris your right our God won't kill a 1 yr old or a 100 yr old just do to it. He would do it for his glory and maybe take them from being around a half heartened sadistic person that would do this to a child. Although I have different views, I have no issues with anyone going to church and trying to live according to their interpretation of the bible. I think that is wonderful. I also thank you Bonn for being open minded and seeing the point I was trying make. And for Anonymous on Jul 1, 2009 at 03:11 PM, no Craveontruth and I are not the same person. We do agree on some issues, and disagree on others. And when we do disagree (speaking for myself of course) we do it without anger. Also, for Bob... sorry, it isn't working. Yeah, we're with you - there are a bunch on weed-o's coming around these days trying to shut us down for the sake of some owl...We get it. We all hate it. Roane Co/Jane -It appears Roane has been very hurt in their lifetime by family conflict involving belief. Many people get hurt because of superstition & misinterpretation and overzealousness. It has been this way since time began. I hope Roane can someday get past the hurt & retoric to work out his/her own salvation. Simple belief in Jesus Christ is where it starts, the rest as I put it, is just "gravy". Jane: I'm sorry your child was hurt. This indeed must be reported. I got hurt @ CP one time too on "The Whip". It beat me so hard against the side I had a major bruise on my hip. I strained my arms trying to keep from slamming into the side. A fun thing was not so fun. No rides for me, anymore. Not there.

Well people I am here to tell you that this bunch at the so called CSPI and no you hippies I don’t mean the TV show calling us fat should look in the mirror they look like something off night of the living dead pasty faced scarecrows and beanpoles and what is so great about that. WV has some of the best staple foods anywhere in the world I have eaten paotatoes beans meat flour and corn meal all my life cooked in lard and I am not one bit worse off for it and can mine coal with anybody. People all the good foods we eat are natural growed in the garden or on the farm so it should even make a tofu eating hippie type happy. I am more bothered that two states beat us out in the race for the top so I tip my hat to the people of the great states of Alabama home of the best country music band ever and Mississippi but people of WV get busy we have to reclaim our title to best fed in the USA I recommend the Kentucky Fried Chicken with gravy and biscuits as a good place to start our comeback.
  • Posted By: RoaneCo.Actually Jane Doe, growing up I did attend church and read the bible. Being subjected to religion for many years I would not consider myself "confused" or uneducated. If one looks at organized religion with an open mind it isn't hard to see who is confused. For example, you have one bible yet there are numerous religious groups ( methodists, baptists etc...) that believe their interpretation is the only correct interpretation. This is understandable because the bible itself is very contradictive. In my opinion the the bible and organized religion is nothing more than a tool created to control the masses. Yet this tool has pitted man against man, brother against brother, state against state and country against country, not to mention the wars, death and destruction it has caused. I have witnessed in my lifetime many family fueds, broken marriages and busted churches at the hands of organized religion. I have heard the words of hate spoken by christians. I am not confused.

  • Posted By: bonnTo Jane Doe: I am afraid RoaneCo's common sense is more attractive than your comments. Read your last post at 8:58 and see if it shows the Light you are suppose to give. We are suppose to control our anger. Yes, we are forgiven, but it is not a license to keep repeating our faults. It is mercy so we can improve. Viciousness does not become a child of God. RoaneCo., may God forgive us for driving you and others away from Him with our failure to shine the Light of Love. And Jane Doe, I am the one you called ignorant just because I was showing compassion (another expectation of a Christian). It is scary about your child. But that person was not attacking your child, nor joking about it, only disapproving of your outburst. Not very attractive in anyone, especially one called to set an example for others to follow. If you must get angry, use it to accomplish something good. Christians are hated enough WITHOUT cause. Love is the answer.

Republicans were overwhelmingly against the measure, arguing it would destroy jobs in the midst of a recession while burdening consumers with a new tax in the form of higher energy costs. And there was plenty to work on in a House-passed measure that pointed toward higher electricity bills for the middle class.Budget Office and the other from the Environmental Protection Agency — that suggested average increases would be $175.00 a year.

What I don't care for is someone like Jane Doe on here week after week preaching her little sermons all the while calling people ignorant and showing her hostility toward others. It has always amazed me how most christians will belittle someone else but the minute you catch them being unchristian like they always come up with the old "we christians ain't perfect". Well I know they are not, but by golly they are the first to judge everyone else. These hyporcitical self proclaimed christians are one of the reasons I turned away from organized religion years ago. I just don't agree with these people shoving religion on everyone else. I respect Jane Does right to religion and I would even fight for her to keep that right, but she, like so many others need to keep their religion in their church and their home.
  • Posted By: Big EarlWell hello again good working coal mining families in WV this is Big Earl and I for one am very disappointed that this cap and trade bill got passed into law the other day no thanks to our good representatives from WV. People all I can say is get a woodpile and a bunch of cow chips because your electric is going to get real expensive real quick. These hippies has run up to Washington DC and boo hooed to them tree huggers and longhairs in the EPA until they got even worse done to our jobs but then again what do you expect from a bunch that has a leaf from a dope plant on there sign like the EPA does if you don’t believe me look on this very website I seen a picture of it. Birds of a feather flock together that’s why the good working people were kept out and not allowed to talk at that hearing and the hippies let in. People these hippies has slandered our great state and coal miners first they bring in professor moonbeam from NASA to insult us then he tucks his tail and runs back to NASA and wont debate Mr. DB then they attack our state university mascot the WV mountaineer. Well people I Big Earl have a solution to this lets call WV the “Ivory Soap State,” make our mascot a bathtub that’s a sure fire way to get rid of these smelly hippies and longhairs and keep them out forever.
  • Posted By: MEWe christians are most always judged by our actions and that is to be expected since we are not perfect in any way. We all make mistakes every day,we get angry,we say things we shouldn't and act out our frustrations sometimes to those closest to us and our friends. We try to do better and ask forgiveness when we do stumble from our christian path. Actions speak louder than words at times, good or bad. Yes we adults act like children at times and children try to act like adults all too soon. We never know who we are influenceing with our actions and words so we need to always try to act,say and do what is right. As long as we are on this earth we will stumble but we should strive to be the best we can be and treat people with love and respect no matter how we are treated. I have turned the cheek many times and been slapped alot and will keep on doing it as long as I breath. My time will come soon enough to be judged as to the way I have lived and treated people.

I thank each of you for your information. I am not out to attack anyone whether acclaimed or the average joe. I just know what I have read from reports and from different sites. This information is what our scientists, meteorologists and so forth use in reference to report the records of weather and temperatures. Again thank each of you, and at last Fox news was the channel the fine people at our local (American made) dealership had channeled on the tube, personally I just watch WSAZ, at the local level.

I am just like everyone else in the know, they lie all the time but please dont press me to cite anything specific as I am having coffee right now. I am new to your side, so pardon me if I get something confused. Those photographs of the ice caps are proof positive as far as I am concerned, these flat earth types that dont believe global warming should compare them to the satellite picutres from the colonial period and over the years since for comparison purposes. I once heard the hottest year on record was in the 1930s but what does that prove. And before one of you know it alls talks about Al Gore riding everywhere in a private plane and having such a huge house and running a company that profits from selling carbon credits, some people in life earn their special privileges simply by showing up and enlightening the rest of us, so there.

And just for the record, I would never "make fun" of a child, but don't think for one second that I won't point out an adult being hypocritical. Are you not the same Jane Doe that three weeks ago was preaching about God, then in the same breath calling someone "IGNORANT"? So let me say it one more time, I hope your little girl is ok. As for you, thank you for proving once again how kind, loving, patient and understanding some of you fine christians can be.
  • Posted By: KrisThis respectfully goes out to "food for thought" for what they said about fox news and global warming.FOX has great movies and tv shows but their view when it comes to the "news" is so far on the "right" way of thinking that it totally obscures reality in their opions of the subject at hand. They'll twist their views to make sure that it is opposite of "liberals" or people on the "left" and how they feel about the subject.Asf or global warming, we have actual time lapsed pictures of the polar caps melting at an alarming rate. You can actually see it happening. If things are cooling down, then why are the polar caps and icebergs melting at an alarming rate? The evidence is right in front of our faces. I sure do hope you're right because if I am, our planet is doomed. Sincerely, Kris

Some people up there has got big names but nobody apparently listens to, that is if they show up at all in court to help you out, those who are sick are excepted. Then there are some people in Charleston who should be in Washington who shall remain unnamed because nobody in Gov. Joes office asked me to say that. But remember who had that bunch from FEMA down here handing out checks before two weeks after the flood water hit and figure out who has clout. You people that went up for the hearing last week should be thanked but the good people never got to say a word but these hippies did, they are apparently now running around the creek with microscopes looking for fish that cant be seen with the eye, something called a microbe, now they are blaming the coal miner for killing off this worthless animal and I sincerely hope Captain D or old Long John will never put some slop like that on my plate when I want good seafood. Have any of you people in Huntington ever lost a chicken to a wild dog. Even these back to nature types and hippies up here in Boone County tie up there dog to guard there dope patches but they don’t have no sense anyway if they aint going to Washington DC to try and rook us out of our jobs by carrying signs and yelling about some invisible fish that is no good to anybody they are screaming about the coal miner killing polar bears and other animals that don’t even live here. Apparently this bunch had the bright idea to go down to the park on Sunday down in Huntington when people was out with there families trying to walk around and enjoy things and they chained themselves to trees with real dog chains trying to get people to sign a protest petition to of all people a mayor named Wolf now I don’t know about you but that mayor better forget the beware of dog sign he needs to put a beware of the PETA nut sign up in that park.
  • Posted By: The Seeker@food for thought: It is indeed important to check facts, and it heartens me to see that you're of the type that actively seeks them (even thought I fall on the side of the debate that believes in climate change, as it has solid science behind it). However, I caution you on taking anything from FOX news at face value. This is an organization that in 2000 won a case in Florida appeals court in which the court ruled that FOX has no obligation to tell the truth to it's viewers, and can misinform the public under the first amendment. This is also an organization that has been proven to have an agenda, and frames every bit of it's coverage to favor one political party over the other. My advice is to seek out less obviously biased news sources, especially in cases such as global warming, which is an issue that transcends political parties and affects every being on the planet.

If I wasn't so old and crippled, I'd bungee jump from the New River Gorge Bridge. Have folks who live in the Talcott area and some around Hinton. Well won't take much of your time today. Just wanted to check in.
  • Posted By: what is foor for thought?foor?? for thought, you do know Bush made those he commissioned to study it alter their reports when he found out it supported global warming, don't you? Anyone who just sees pictures of the ice caps 30 years ago and now would have to be mentally handicapped not to know there's global warming, the only thing that's possible to debate is the cause of it. Wonder why Fox didn't mention the Bush fiasco? Well I don't really wonder.

  • Posted By: Lou AnnIve had a similar bad experience at camden park several years ago. Havent went back since. The pricing is just another deterrent to doing business locally. I love this area but am very discouraged by the lack of pride in our appearance in several of our towns, the prices of doing business, the attitude towards the customer , the lack of merchandise. I could go on. We definately are not tourist friendly in the great ohio valley area.
  • Posted By: foor for thoughtLooks like my comment on June 24th may be right. I have done some reading about this Global warming fad the government is putting on. I was sitting in a local car dealership and FOX news was reporting on the government sitting or "burying" studies by two of the highest ranking EPA officials contradicting this myth. Some of the comments from their studies proves the Global temperature if anything has decreased. Although, you should be skeptical about anything the media reports especially when it involves the government these are facts that have been recorded over time. I ask how come when these bozos as Dr. Hansen whom is from NASA(which has done innumerable amounts of damage to our air with their testing) never mention facts as these when trying to prove things they are claiming is a fact. People we in America have became lazy in seeking the truth, I am not disputing anything these scientists and the government tells us, but as we learned in elementary school check facts of both sides.
  • Posted By: gays in u.s.a.another reflection on gays.if you think god doesn,t care about you because you,re gay ,he must love you more than you can comprehend,if not you could have been born ina muslim country.islam has no homosexuals ,they are not rehabilitate, just beheaded.as a loving and compassionate god says"GO AND SIN NO MORE".that doesnt mean just you it means all of us.yes god allows you to choose,he must really care.
  • Posted By: City of MiltonI'm glad that the City of Milton has so much money to spend and that they spend it wisely. Every time I drive through town on a nice day it never fails that someone is washing their personal vehicle at the VFD. Good to see that they budget personal car washes into the city budget. I think I'll stop in there today and see if I can wash my car as well...should be a nice day!
  • Posted By: ValorieAbout four weeks ago, I sent a letter to Camden Park with a friendly suggestion to open the park to the casual visitor again. As of today, I still haven't had a response from them. There used to be a small fee for admission to anyone who just wanted to visit. Once inside the park, a visitor could buy a corn dog or pay to play a few games or ride a few rides. Now people have to pay a full admission price for all day rides, even when they don't plan to stay all day. A lot of people are grandparents who just want to watch their grandchildren ride for an hour or two. Some are young parents with small children who tire easily. As empty nesters, my husband and I would like to drop by to get a bite to eat, play some games or just walk around. Everyone I have spoken to said they would visit Camden Park a whole lot more if they didn't have to pay the full admission price. I challenge everyone to contact Camden Park and ask them to give the people a choice!
  • Posted By: to gay questiongod is not a cruel and unfair god.we all have our faults.is homosuxality a bigger sin than adultry, pornography, lying, stealing, and the list goes on.the clue to these behaviors is wanting to make our lives better.we cant blame anyone but ourselves for what we do.if anyone doesnt change its what they want to do.but as long as it doesnt affect me thats between you and god.but it is wrong, just as cheating on your spouse is sin.would we tell the adulterer that its not sin and not to try being a better person,i think not.celibacy would be better than the same old behavior.these have been struggle since creation.
  • Posted By: RoaneCo.Losing your religion Jane Doe? What happened to "turn the other cheek"? I do hope your little girl is ok. I have children of my own, I know how precious they are. But next time you read of someone else being "furious" or commenting on their personal issues, maybe you should keep your bible quotes to yourself.
  • Posted By: Jane DoeI recently went with my church and my family to Camden Park this past weekend. Me and my 6 year old daughter rode the Spider, We thought it was going to be lots of fun, we were wrong! It was a nightmare! It went on for 10 minutes and was going way too fast! My daughter was terrified and was screaming! I was furious when the man that helped us off asked if she was okay and I said what do you think and he laughed!! I have rode this ride for many years and loved it, But this time I could tell it was different! But then it gets worse, A friend of mine that stayed at the park longer than us informed me that after we left, The spider closed down and said they had crossed wires and the ride was malfunctioning!!! My daughter can't hardly walk today and has a four inch bruise down her back! I'm taking her to the doctor in the morning. If there is something seriously wrong, I will be speaking to the owner and this situation will be takin care of!!!!!
